    I'm sad that the AAF failed so quickly. I hope that the XFL will take the teams from the AAF and convert them into the XFL.

    The AAF did a few enjoyable things :
    * No kickoffs. What's the point of kicking the ball if 95% of the time, there is no return. If you want to keep the KO, look at how the CFL handles kicking since... Ever!
    * 35 seconds clock (CFL is 20).
    * No kicking extra points. You are force to make a 2 points conversion.
    * Fewer adds and placement.
    All of these changes led to faster games. I was a football fan back in the 1980s. Now, I have to sit 3h30 to watch a single NFL game on average... Which maybe explains why ratings are down.

    There's a lot of blame to go around with the AAF debacle, but most of it belongs squarely on the shoulders of Charlie Ebersol. To decide to start a new football league expressly because you thought you could avoid the mistakes of another failed league and then to fail so miserably anyway is monumental hubris & stupidity. It isn't as though Ebersol hasn't been around pro sports his entire life & just didn't realize that you have to have your finances in order if you want to succeed. He just played a long shot with money he didn't have yet, hoping he'd hit big and be able to cover his debts with the winnings. In no other area of endeavor except business does gambling with such high stakes like that not land you in jail or dead.
    I feel bad for the players, the coaches, the staffers, and the affiliates, but my deepest sympathies go out to the fans. This crooked sack of shit asked us to believe in & support his product, lied through his teeth about how secure the venture was, and then walked away basically unscathed after the plug has been pulled before we got even one full season. We were cheated out of a championship game because this dickhead couldn't be bothered to get the money squared away before the first season got underway. Maybe that's a minor hardship compared to all the folks who had to go & find new jobs after the league folded, but as a fan, I can't think of anything less satisfying than spending months passionately supporting a sports league, only to have it end abruptly without even crowning a single champ.
    Charlie Ebersol can eat a bag of dicks.

    Ok this isnt just a football issue this happens to 95% of all businesses.
    You need capitol (and reserve) for 3 years. The first 2 years ur gonna be in the red. By year 3 is where a business sees what direction they are headed. Its common business sense.

      The Rebirth Of The AAF We’ll see in 2020! The XFL is nice but they’re too cocky for there own brenches and pride becomez before an Fall I give them an 50/50 shot to make it to 2021. My prediction we’ll see the AAF back in 2020!

    Money is everything in this business, if they got a couple of prospects they could become a revolutionary business and power house competitor but they don’t have the money. Imagine if Tua & Lawrence did only 1 year of college and signed with the AAF for a couple of million?

    • @J_Caban

      Exactly, you have to have money to get it in this business. They could’ve took advantage of NFLs 2 year rule for NCAA players if they had the money to.

    • @lonelychameleon3595
      @lonelychameleon3595 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cormel - You’re assuming a lot of those players would even want to play in the AAF, which wasn’t even a minor league.

    • @cormel6895
      @cormel6895 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brock Lobster
      No, I’m saying they’ll go wherever the money & opportunity is. A lot of MLB & NBA players go play in pro leagues instead of playing in the NCAA bc it’s quick money with the same eventual outcome if they’re ready. Plus a couple of AAF players got signed this year.

    This AAF league made the USFL look like the NFL. The only spring football league I see possibly withstanding is the upcoming 2020 revived XFL. Reasons being because it has operated before, and has had nearly two decades to figure out, what they did wrong the first go around, plus it does have some cache with NFL followers, unlike the AAF, which didn't...

    Football already has controversy with the head injuries. Parents are waking up and getting their kids out of the sport.
    Football is a dying sport. It is a 20th century sport.
    The game as we have known it will be gone in less than 20 to 40 years.
    No new football league will make it. The NFL will probably downsize by 2030 and have no major media networks covering the sport. It will be semi forgotten just like hockey.

    • @colinw8121
      @colinw8121 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chase McBrien people have been saying this for years and nothing ever happens. Football is the most popular sport in this country and millions of people watch every game. It won’t just disappear because dumbass conspiracy theorists like you say it will. And btw hockey isn’t semi-forgotten lmao. The Stanley cup playoffs are the best tournament in sports and game 7 of the finals last week was the most watched game in NHL history.

    • @Cofitube94
      @Cofitube94 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@colinw8121 you're not thinking big picture. Football as we know it will never be the same. Every year there's less and less contact permitted in the nfl. Lets say in 10 years its probably gonna be touch football. Im not saying people wont watch it but it wont be the same

    • @davidboniface858
      @davidboniface858 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually disagree. The participation in football is still high especially in low income areas and among minorities. Also if the NCAA would allow payment of athletes the sport will continue to thrive especially with the revenue the NFL and NCAA receives. The sport is still in a great position to thrive

    • @davidboniface858
      @davidboniface858 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also players have leverage to get more money. If done right the NFL will still be a popular sport

    • @chasemcbrien3327
      @chasemcbrien3327 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Ryan Irwin- Diehl NFL is not as huge as it use to be. Social media may make it appear that way. Most kids these days can't explain the playoff system or know which division or conference these teams are in.
      The NFL might be taking a nose dive in the upcoming years. If you went back to the 1950s or 60s, and told people that the NHL will lose it's popularity in 35 years they would have thought you were out of your mind.
      Once the Generator X people start dying off, then you will see the huge declines in football.
      They are already trying to mold its replacement with 7 on 7. Schools across the country know they are just a few more lawsuits away from having the sport banned in their state.
      By 2050 football as we know it will not be played anymore. Unless it is played by advanced robots that look human.
