How the Greens Want to Fix Australia With Tax Reforms

- The Greens are proposing a Robin Hood tax reform that would see big corporations slugged with a 40% tax on super profits, which could raise $514 billion to help Aussies through a cost-of-living crisis.
Greens leader Adam Bandt explains.
#RobinHood #Auspol #Greens
How about we address the loopholes enabling corporations to shift profits offshore? What if we eliminate corporate political contributions and lobbying incentives so that politicians truly work for us instead of just pretending to? Just picture the continuous rise in costs every year - from rent to repayments, food, bills, and taxes.
DESIREE RUTH HOFFMAN? I've heard her trading calls across forex, stocks, and crypto have been the best in the last five years.
That's amazing! I've heard of them too. I'm thrilled to learn about their success stories. I've even heard managed to pay off my mortgage by following their guidance.
That's intriguing! How did you end up meeting her?
That's awesome! I looked up Desiree Ruth Hoffman online and it was surprisingly simple to book a consultation.
If you watched the video they basically say this in the first 10 seconds
If big business and big corp have any issue with giving back 40% after to the community in which provides to them above 5% profits, then I have no issue in same not operating in Australia.
Great policy Greens 💚
It's funny watching people simp over billion dollar multi-national companies. People out here turning down free money because it might hurt the feelings of billionaires
Yep, that male anchor was so cringe to listen to.
Why should corporations be gifted with more financial benefits than individuals? Good on you Adam.
First time I've heard the greens talking sense. I've been saying this for years, profits are fine till they become obscene and the common man gets stung. Why should the worker get taxed more and more but corporations can pull in unlimited profits making the rich richer? Extra taxes on big profits and plough that money back into infrastructure and public services.
It won't work. It only scare away investors and guarantee more businesses will go overseas.
He is 100% correct. Banks, mining & tech companies should not be making billion-dollar profits when there are Australian families living in the streets.
You have no idea.I feel sorry for you

@@thewayneflyinghigh9128putting dental into Medicare could potentially increase productivity by increasing the health of Australia’s workforce.
Paying off Australian government debt could give Australia more stability.
(Once government debt is paid) the additional government revenue could fund the removal of other taxes.
As an example, payroll tax is a tax on employment.
As a second example, stamp duty is a disincentive to moving. When people move closer to their work it reduces the amount governments need to spend on additional road lanes and public transportation capacity.
@@JamielDeAbrew really? That could increase dental problems becuase someone other than the dental patient will pay for going to the dentist hence less chance of people looking after there dental health care.
Sweden tax their petroleum industry @ 70% and then invest the money on behalf of their citizens. Government has over a trillion dollar for the country to use in the future. 🤔
I think you mean Norway and besides that’s not the policy he’s putting forward. This one’s more broad reaching across all kinds of business and will be detrimental to the country as a whole. I’m all for making miners, ect. pay what they owe but this plan sounds like a disaster. Why should we tax a private company that sells discretionary products that are optional, that provides jobs people?
Adam answered the questions the worse way possible. Companies that operate in this country benefit from educated workers, Medicare that is provided by the state, infrastructure and a safe environment to do their business.
All need taxes.

How about closing the loopholes that allow corporations to take profits off shore?
How about getting rid of corporate political donations and lobby incentives, and then perhaps the politicians would start working for us, rather than pretending to.

How about just lowering taxes for most Aussie taxpayers and having a tax system that encourages hard work and encourages jobseeker recipients to find work?.

@thewayneflyinghigh9128 yes how about abolishing the gst for food and excise for fuel??? Agree with that?
1. Profit isn’t the same as turnover
2. Robin Hood fought against high taxes taken by the government
I believe Robin hood fought against high taxes charged against the peasants and working poor. Right now, i think living expenses and mortgage debts are comparable to the high rents and taxes charged on the peasants by the nobility and lords of Robin hood's era during the feudal system.

The greens are right sometimes and I as a conservative wouldn’t mind some of there policies that are Australian first. And acknowledging the facts about negative gearing hurting Aussies for those who own 3-7 homes is good.Sadly them being for more migration and woke leftist mentalities is a huge turn off. We need Australian first that beats companies that create the living and housing crisis but the greens are too flawed!
Re migration. From an economy side of things, it's a really good thing for Australia. We need to do both, ensuring that we reinvest the benefits back into housing and health, etc. And tax the ultra rich 🤪.
Protectionism will make Australian worse.
Put Australians first, these multinationals can make profits and pay a fair amount of tax as well. Enough of the excessive greed
When the Liberals take hold in Qld, they'll be rolling back industry taxes, it sucks... cause we have to gibe up ao much to get rid of Labor though.
Should Getup! pay there fare share of tax?. Btw don’t big companies pay tax when they make a profit?. Why not have a tax system that encourages investment (and employment) in Australia, not discourages it?.
@thewayneflyinghigh9128 why are you obsessed with getup? About 6 months ago you made a reply on my comment (unrelated) to getup.
What is your relation to getup?
You're a lazy simpleton
It will only scare away investors and guarantee for business to go overseas. The only one that be hurting will be the poor. Less jobs. Higher gas prices and other ect.
I'm not necessarily against the higher tax for company profits, but it seems that the greens don't understand the difference between turn over and profit. I think just strengthening the current company tax so international companies pay their fair share would be much better result, i.e. no tax heavens.
I love how this was an attack rather than an exploration of the idea to a problem everyone knows exists. It’s like the problem is more acceptable than a solution. Media is a blight for Australian democracy and the Project is one of the worst examples, slightly better than Sky News

Share holders are nothing but public. The dividends are ploughed back into the community. Your super returns are linked to these dividends and every adult Australian has super.

@@nitehawk9270 thank you for your response (genuinely, not sarcastically).
Per capita spending on pensions for politicians and judges is next to nothing. A potential benefit is that it decreases the financial incentive for politicians/judges to be corrupt.
Removing medicines from the PBS could lead to more people needing government assistance. Likewise it could lead to some people no longer being able to work.
I have a problem with ‘work for the dole’ and limiting the duration of unemployment benefits. My issue is that some unemployment is built into Australia’s economic system. The idea is that if the employment rate falls too low, people switching jobs would put upward pressure on inflation. So that the majority don’t suffer from inflation, the minority suffer from unemployment (or underemployment).
I release the statement above sounds like a nut job conspiracy theory. Please read about the NAIRU on the official Reserve Bank of Australia website. And please also read the Wikipedia page on “full employment”.

Better off trying to get them to make a percentage of social investment and therefore the profits go into community infrastructure which then becomes an asset for the company... i.e. the banks supplying low cost housing options

Bandt operates at the level of a very competent 15 year old debating on a high school council
Well he been in parliament for 15 years since 2010 so that probably explains it 😂
How we can fix most of the financial and bureaucratic issues in Australia
Australia is one of the most over governed over regulated countries in the world
Our level of bureaucracy is insane
Australians in their indifference allow bureaucrats
The ones that actually run our government
To continually implement unrealistic and useless rules and regulations
Under the auspices of false statements such as quality and safety
We have far surpassed what is reasonable
All that is happening is a thing called empire building
Many of the bureaucrats have positions that they get paid quite well for with exceptional working conditions that include much more leave entitlements and other benefits
That are not available to the rest of Australians
One of the major concerns is the excessive rules and regulations that are designed to hinder progress and prosperity to the rest of Australia
I offer a solution that no politician has the courage to implement
Proposal number one
A sweeping review of the bureaucracy of Australia
In particular the billions of dollars we pay these people
In return for very poor or no productivity
That are designed to justify their position and create pretend jobs /positions
Absurdly excessive ridiculous rules and regulations
That are mostly not necessary in many cases
Proposal number two
When dealing with citizens the ones who pay their wages
All bureaucrats must be forced to supply an ID NUMBER
For all interactions with citizens
This is for accountability and performance
I can as many people may be able to in their professions refer to
Site certain excessive ridiculous rules and regulations
In some ways are against human rights in other countries
I will give on very quick example in my area being training
If you want to complete a simple CPR course
There are two government departments that if you do not comply
You are not entitled to obtain your CPR certificate
One the unique student identifier USI or useless student identifier as I call it
An employer does not care about your USI database
They just want to see the actual certification
In addition the USI is never up to date or the site is down
Next you have AVETMISS too long to write out here
This is another useless government department
That you have to comply to where they ask you obtrusive questions in order to get a database they can so called interpret
Don’t comply to both of those things you cannot get your CPR certification in Australia
This does not even happen in other countries maybe not even communist countries
Other countries would call this educational blackmail
In fact a breach of human rights your right to an education
Another statistic I recently come across was in the Australian health sector where one in three employees In the health care system do not have anything to do with patient care
The ration in most other countries is one in ten employees
Another issue is the ridiculous benefits
We pay to politicians once they leave office
This needs to stop
Good luck on this one
Australians need to stop being apathetic on these issues
The billions we pay these highly unproductive bureaucrats
Could fix the healthcare system and infrastructure
Ok if you are a bureaucrat or a close relative or politician in their pocket
You will be saying oh no we are needed we are important
How about this we close down your department /organisation today and see how it impacts production and society
Probably for the better
Yes we do need some government institutions but nowhere what we have
Note I am only discussing bureaucrats
Not the real government employees who make a real difference
Medics Paramedics Nurses Firefighters the list goes on we need a lot more of them
Again clean out the useless dead weight from the government and employ the real professionals
Yes it is a pipedream very few politicians have the courage to do this
We lack courageous leaders or if they try they are quashed
And Australians who are too apathetic until one day it will be too late
Leading to little to no freedom left for your children
Fees on super will explode...
Look at the rentals in Victoria. How the greens stuffed that up..
Question should be, who is funding the greens to destory Australian business, so it moves abroad...
When the greens attack the textile industry, it was funded by a French fashion house, to give the excuse to move to a third world country....
Greens won’t be happy until there are bread lines.
Insurance companies..anyone
?
No companies No Jobs simple !
But the politicians would not ever have to worry about that....
@fsm12385 that's not true at all. Jobs exist without companies, absolutely.
We will always need food, teachers, carpenters, nurses all these roles can exist without a company

Let’s start with taking half of Adam’s investment properties away from him and handing it over to the poor
@@archiekabooom2928 will adam speak of his investment portfolio?
Why not start with everyone same time ?
Weird he's quiet on negative gearing
It's all about the shareholders. The circle of profit within a public business is the problem.
Business do do alot for the community but id respect that more if those companies wernt offshoring the profits, sacking people left and right for decades and clearly not giving a single f about the cost of living and rent in favor of taking advantage of overseas talent and people who can pay out the entire 12 month rental contracts in advance.
Always make us fix the problem and use this sea of talent to block, negate and reduce thier share. this is the logical course for them.
The amounts he is talking about are actually greatly reduced esp if you go into the territory of retroactive recouping of the years where there was no royalties due to their predatory lobbies.

WOW... this guy truly has no idea about how the economy works and has a truly naive view of the world. He is under the assumption that businesses have no other choice but to operate out of Australia and more importantly to not understand that revenue is totally different from profits. On a separate note, if he is essentially saying that companies are only allowed to make a 5% return in Australia and anything above that is obscenely high, he clearly has no idea about how businesses operate. Most companies would just shut down and put that cash in a bank and get better interest on the money sitting in there and millions of people would be unemployed but I suppose politicians would not have to worry about that right..?
