You had Gilchrist, Hayden, Symonds, Ponting, McGrath, Warne, Lee, Bevan, Gillispie, Watson, etc. Its like the team was scientifically made in lab and then cloned into great cricketers. they used to crush aussies in tests in in austrailia like elephant crushes an insect.
even second best team at that time was no where near the windies.
nobody came near to their level whereas aussies recieved close compitition from sa, sl, ind and pakistan
aussies won 1999 wc because of sa brainfade in semis
2007 wc also their was duckworth lewis against sl.
luck was always on their side

One of the reason why Australia win this game because at that time there was one ball rule in odi which help the bowlers with reverse Swing in last 10 overs mainly and help them defend the total of 270+ which is impossible now a days that's why now odi's are ruined and mostly one sided and boring and we can see also double hundred by batsmen which was a humongous task that era
Note: many people in replies saying that Australian team was just legend at that time and as a cricket fan from 2000s I absolutely agreed with them, That team was the best team cricket can ever have but i stated the reverse swing factor which makes the 2000s decade odi's interesting rather than today's dull one sided odi

Yasir Hameed Murdered Brett Lee in this game. Pulls, drives, flicks, Cuts, back foot punch.... Yasir ripped Lee apart. Haven't seen Brett being treated like this often. The Crowd noise at 8:38 when Yasir Pulls Lee was 🔥🔥
And he did all that with pure grace. What a player

The difference between the two sides in this match and generally between Australia and the rest of the world was their superb fielding. They took the important catches and made the run-outs which was a major reason why they won 3 consecutive world cups and hardly lost an ODI series between 1999-2007.
