Quick addition here: NTSC is mostly for america and south/latin america. For most european countries you use PAL. It still varies a lot between countries, so it is wise to google NTSC and PAL regions, so you know which to use. It also good to know, that NTSC and PAL is mostly linked to TV, and they usually shoot interlaced FPS at 60 FPS on NTSC (or 29,97 or 30 when not interlaced) and 50 at PAL (Or 25 when not interlaced). For movies we just shoot 23,97 or 24 FPS. Just set your PAL or NTSC according to your region to be safe, but it is mostly for TV broadcasts that this really matters.
Keep up the great work, Chris. You may have single-handedly convinced us to purchase a Canon 70D (Canon should pay you commission, ha!) I see this channel getting very big, especially with your enthusiasm and work ethic. Keep it up!
Good explanation! However, a good video mostly requires a good location and lightning settings. I was wondering if you have a any more information on how you setup your studio? What kind of lightning equipement do you use?

When I download TechniColour to my computer and my camera is connected.. the option to follow for "Resgister User Defined Style" to select the download is not an option... won't let me click the open file icon. Thank you for this tutorial it was very helpful there's not so much tutorial about video settings with this camera. I used this camera in my music channel with the 81 135 lens and now i'm changed it to Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM Lens and i' want to know what is the best settings for my use to create more depth field that the background will by very much blur if i close to the background ..and not so close to the lens..so what do you recommend me?
Just do a series of test shots on different aperture settings, review them on a big screen and see what looks best. Try starting on f/10 and increase/decrease it a few stops.
Depends on your budget. The Rebel T3i is not as good as the 70D/80D, but it's still a very fine camera and not very expensive. In the end, the mise en scene is which makes the images look good, not the camera/lens.
I downloaded the Technicolor file. it comes with a list of system requirements. it asks 4 EOS utility version 2.6 at least. This doesn't exist. Am I missing something? The latest version of utility is 2.1.4.

Not sure what you are referring to as it's been so long but in the video my advice on sharpness stands from the fact that the image is way too soft to fix in post and that is why I have my sharpness settings as such.
750/60 D got more pixels and were lower budget , so you can take whatever 70 or 750/60 i had both in hands . Even if i would recommand ggh4 anydays now . Most people turning their ass to sony (wich is normal) Canon policy has been terrible those last 3 years for consumer , amateur dslr . They didnt step up their video quality . I had T2I it was the revolution back then (with 5DMKII) . And then 5 y later they release camera without 60p in 1080 really ? when sony camera offer 4K camera +120 fps HD at same price. At the end of movie , you said absolutly interesting things about sharpness . I always watch some cc , most says lower the sharpness in camera settings . But most of time i don't add sharpness then. And i do think i should let sharpness around +1 or 2 like you advice. Most of you video on youtube have a beautiful qual (and its due to your lightning and video codec setting ) Huge respect , But you can add some write text (i had to enable the english audio stuff to understand your passage about sharpness) i don't blame your english level (look mine ^^) but it's just that it would be more clean to have info on the part of the video.
Glad to see you found the video interesting! One thing you dissmiss on your 750/60d comparison is the autofocus function which is a must (70d and above have what is called dual pixel AF tech) for filmmakers that use those ''level'' cameras
In video mode i have the autofocus but i use it only if i do glidecam shot otherwise i prefered manual focus anyday. It works well i do some macroshot (video) . T6i/s is kinda underated , got more pixels + autofocus in video but a bit less functions compared to 70d. (but doesnt matter canon sucks for not providing us a 60 p 1080 (at least).
+MarkVirtual if you follow the link for the picture profile and then go to the Faq page you will see that it says the profile is for Canon EOS DSLR's. Regarding the other settings it really depends on the camera and the level of control it allows you to customise. I think the 60d has similar settings except maybe the recording options (All-I low comp)

Can someone help? I'm using the kit 18-55mm for 70D. I can't seem to find the 1280x720 60Fps. Only 50Fps on mine. Is it cause of the lens or memory card space on my camera? My memory card is 8GB
Chris, im having another issue. My footage is noisy. im using a super low iso, shutter speed according to the 180 degree rule and apeture not too bright but its still noisy when i view it on the laptop. Is it cause of the kit lens?
It seems you might be reffering to vertical banding noice that occurs when you underexpose your shot. Make sure to properly expose so that the sensor can capture details instead of noise.
Cinestyle is garbage, I've done photos and videos with it. Unless you do B&W films wich makes it a very flat image, Cinestyle degrades the colors, contrast and sharpness of the image you take, and makes you work the image in edition all over again to obtain a certain possible contrast similar to the real one, wich you can't. Guys, seriously, work with Neutral if you wanna do the color and stuff, but don't break your asses trying to obtain a certain color and contrast you loose with that thing.
I find it hard to see your point especially due to the way you express it. That said I have a completely different experience with Cinestyle and I do not need to say anything more as my videos speak for themselves.

JCTV France I too have only recently started filming with the 70d, it's bloody amazing. I was using a 650D until recently.

Another tip: stick on a ND filter to keep wide apertures / shallow focus

It sounds like the problem lies with your settings/post edit. There is no way the lens is the issue.

Why does your 70D has 30 fps at 1080p as highest setting and mine just 25???
my 70d shoots 24 fps as well as 30 etc. If you can't see those options you need to change the NTSC - PAL settings
