I did too. Immediately after his concert he took ill and had to have the ambulance come get him. This was in 1996 in Seattle and then year old Key Arena, which has since been torn down. Time flies but this him lives on forever.
As a catholic, Ave Maria holds a very special place in my heart (I got great joy in hearing you say a Hail Mary), and the prayer gives me a peace that no other prayer can. Thank you fire your very honest reaction to this! Enjoyed every minute of it.
I agree 100%. Love JVs choice of music and his pure genuine reactions touch my heart. I find myself teary eyed in most of these videos. Especially this one. Touches my heart so deeply. Thanks JV for your heartfelt gift to us.
You are such a gentleman and a scholar, my friend. This tune changed my life while working in fine Italian dining. You have a tremendous palate for music, and I really thank you for that.
Thanks to you I spent several hours last night listening to opera. I think I'm addicted now - especially listening to Pavarotti. I think you might be addicted too. TY 😊
My cousin was a Sheriff in the Monroe Co. Sheriff's dept. and he was a diver for drowning victims and on one search, he had an equipment failure and he ended up drowning. This cathedral where is funeral was was packed with Law Enforcement officers from around the country. This song was played/sang and it was the most amazing moment I've ever experienced....both visually and audibly. Thanks for your reaction, Jay. I enjoyed it. Take care and be well. Peace.
Non opera singer named Barbra Streisand sings this. I get goosebumps with her singing anyway. But when she sings this song- oh maannnnnn!!-. You would love her voice
An opera singers voice is their "instrument". Just like playing a trumpet or a flute, the singer must spend hours and hours, years and years in perfecting their tone, pitch and musicality. Some people have a natural 'gift', but that doesn't mean they can let down on perfecting their craft. No electronic enhancements in singing opera. It's purity of the voice that touches your soul.
Even more. I was trained in this art for nearly 8 years now and at first its like you would have to take the parts of this instrument and put them together, that's what you do the first maybe two years, and after that you have to learn to play it. It's quite complicated, because you don't have an instrument standing before you and when you press this button, there is this tone. You have to imagine most of the things you learn and out of this imagination comes the technique. Luciano Pavarotti mastered a technique (translated it means 'the masc', im from Germany so I don't know the English name) and especially this one makes his singing sound lite and like it touches your soul. Unfortunately this technique is often neglected in singing schools (at least in Germany Idk about the other ones)
@@antoniavonrothkirch4453 Thank you Antonia for your insight. I never sang opera, but I did play flute and have been with people who play other instruments. I hope I wasn't being too forward in my "analysis", I've always been fascinated with how opera singers produce something so beautiful with just their vocal cords (and all the rest)... It's an amazing genre.
It's so beautiful to see someone having the first contact with the best of European culture, welcome! There is so much beauty in the world and we should be a lot more focus on good things and not in bad things. It was a joy to see your honest reaction. Cheers from Europe!
Thanks for your honest appreciation of Luciano, who's been the last of all the great tenors of the last century. I've heard him live in 1983 in Munich for the last time, unfortunately. He was an outstanding opera singer and artist. Again, thanks for reacting to him and your appreciation!

Enjoy all of his music and it will expand your soul❤️When he died his beautiful instrument became even more precious to me! I missed his concert when he came here and I will regret that forever.
He does have the most spectacular voice. Really goose bumps. I have heard other opera singers say Pavarotti had a Perfect Technique. He was inherently beautifully talented, and hard work pays too
One of the most transcendentally beautiful pieces of music ever written, performed by the greatest tenor of his time. How could it be any more perfect?
Beautiful music grabs your heart, takes your breath away and leaves you speechless! Pavarotti is so gifted! I love that you appreciate all kinds of music, which makes you a true music lover. ❤️❤️❤️
JayVee, That's the first prayer you learn as a young Catholic boy or girl. Say the Hail Mary. With the music of Schubert and the voice of Pavarotti it's truly a Marriage made in heaven. So glad you liked this.

I really love your face ... I can see every single emotion coming out of you ... Luciano truly touch your deep soul!!! don't worry about your pronunciation ... its sounds good👏👏👏
I'll never forget the first time I heard this song. It was the the middle 1960s, I was a child and it was the first time I was allowed to go to midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. I felt so grown up! This was when the Mass was still said in Latin, so I understood little. We had a wonderful choir, but I had never heard a solo. The soloist was a family friend that I didn't know could sing. He gave the most beautiful rendition of Ave Maria, which I could understand. Every time I saw him I asked for him to sing this for me. Thank you and God bless you!
My 85 year old mother and I just watched this together. She is quite a fan of Pavarotti and has seen him many, many times. We were both positively delighted with your reaction. (The Hail Mary is a Roman Catholic prayer to the Blessed Mother, FYI.) May God bless you, sweet man. We're now on to your next video!

Just amazing. My Mother first had me listen to him when I was 8....on a cassette tape. Then World Cup 90 came and Nessun Dorma came to the fore. I am a rock fan. A dance fan. A 90s pop fan. All sorts. Pavarotti will always be part of me too. Brilliant.

Luciano Pavarotti always brings a smile to my face! Thank you Luciano! R.I.P. Signore Pavarotti! It helps a lot if you read the libretto before going to the opera. My mother was so disappointed because I fell asleep at the first opera she took me see. I had not read the libretto. I was 14 years old.
Saw Pavarotti sing Ave Maria on Johnny Carson one night probably in the 90's. It was stunning. When he finished everyone was silent for a precious moment. They had all been touched not only by his voice but by his heart. Amazing!

I LOVE, LOVE, that piece....interesting enough the first time I heard that music was in the movie Excalibur made back in the 80s. Helen Mirren was super young and she played Morgana. Then with a little research I found out it was O Fortuna by Carl Orff. 👍☺️

This always reminds me of my Mum and thank you for having and sharing your open mind with us Jayvee. Take care and stay safe in this crazy world please, Peace, love and hugs to you all Mary-Ellen UK
He could sing a cookbook and I'd melt!!!! 😊🎵🎼🎶💜
The joy you take into a discovery is so heartwarming and so sincere that it elevates us all to rediscover that which has become familiar.
Watching your heart-felt enjoyment of this music really touches my heart! God bless you.!!
I took my mum to see him ... his voice brings tears to my eyes .... goosebumps everytime.
Don't know which gave me more goosebumps - listening to Pavarotti, or watching you discover him. Well done brother - thanks for sharing!
i got to see him in central park. never saw so many people (including me) in tears at a concert. glad you found him.
Saw Pavarotti sing Ave Maria on Johnny Carson one night probably in the 90's. It was stunning. When he finished everyone was silent for a precious moment. They had all been touched not only by his voice but by his heart. Amazing!
I am so happy that the algorithm brought you into my world. Watching you discover and appreciate this new genre (for you!) is such a gift. I hope that you continue to find more joy and inspiration in the world this unfolds for you. (and keep sharing!)
Check out "O Fortuna" by Carl Orff. Find a live version and a translation of the lyrics so you understand the power of the music.
I LOVE, LOVE, that piece....interesting enough the first time I heard that music was in the movie Excalibur made back in the 80s. Helen Mirren was super young and she played Morgana. Then with a little research I found out it was O Fortuna by Carl Orff. 👍☺️
Oh yes, my 7 yr old daughter ice skates n wants to do that next year. We all love that music.
OMG YES

Masterpiece👌🏼
His transition from note to note and octave to octave is as smooth as silk. There was and never will be another Pavarotti…
