I think it's more about the idea that angel while not necessarily threatening per say he possessed knowledge of the X-factor and he was down on his luck having lost everything he cared for. Making him very susceptible to manipulation. Sure there's stronger and more threatening mutants, but it's far easier to manipulate someone down on their luck who's lost everything into doing your bidding in return for something they've lost. (Angels wings etc....)
Thanks for covering Apocalypse. I haven't seen the recent movie (or any of the X-men movies) but I remember the 80s and 90s comics where he was such a great villain. Not sure the movie does justice to the character but your vids definitely do :D

What would be your versions of the four horsemen be? For me I'd have to say; Pestilence-Omega Red, Famine-Sauron, War-Emma Frost, and Death-Minic I'd choose OR for Pestilence for obvious reasons. Sauron, because of his ability to "feed" off others would be Famine. Emma, with her omega level telepathy would be able to control world leaders for the purpose of throwing the world into War. And Mimic, as Death, would be an augmented combination of the original x-men while still keeping the ability to mimic other powers.
Now i understand: Rob is like a modern day Sheherezade. He tells us 1001 stories about dashing heroes and mischievous villains but always save some more for next time :)

Apocalypse's goal is simply and only the survival of the fittest. Even though he puts a LOT of stock in Mutants, he also puts it on Humanity to step up and get stronger. Thus you have to ask why a guy who could win out of hand, just burn through everyone who could pose a threat to him, goes through all these ritualized steps that ultimately lead to his defeat? He's been around long enough to know what will and won't work. So why does he keep doing it, with very slight variations. The answer is obvious with some thought, he doesn't want to win, he wants the strong to get stronger, Mutants have a leg up on this, but he sees the value in Humanity growing and improving, getting stronger as well. Yes, there is some ass-backwards nonsense about Appy owning a Celestial for his powers, with a needlessly convoluted means of remuneration, but ultimately he wants the strongest of the strong. It is the only way for him to get what he wants and needs.

However Apocalypse did not foresee them banding together on their own without him.
Also Mr Sinister from his perspective killing the morlocks where ok from his scientific perspective they where his creations from genetic manipulation of the normal parents of the morlocks.
