I love that he always opens with that fucking Tim Allen joke like it's his hit.

Wow London crowd was actually pretty hot for him. They seemed to really get it, although since it was an international trip they were probably people familiar with his work. It's still a good feel for this budding stand-up to get the laughs he deserves :) One day your coke joke will bring the house down, mi amigo

Tim and Eric have a huge following over here. And I think tbh his whole, being as awkward as possible, anti comedy style when it comes to his stand up probably gets a better reception here. Awkwardness and irony are the foundations of British comedy and he's a master of it.

@@joecaple4552 yes that's what I have assumed.. I'm an American but love some forms of British comedy but specifically the way it has influenced and shaped Western comedy as a whole. I absolutely love the very awkward, false sincerity, highly exaggerated, overly descriptive and gross aspects, and extreme dry humor that Tim and Eric have worked into their many projects.
And you can see that many of these styles have been incubated and done very well by British entertainers of all kinds for a very long time. And I have also noticed that some of my favorite comedians have been sort of niche performers and although they definitely have cult followings here in the states, the average person either "doesn't get it" or they don't think it's funny. Usually the same people who think that mainstream comedians and people like Kevin Hart are the funniest people in the world, that isn't to say he isn't a funny person or hasn't had any funny jokes ever in his career, but he has fallen victim as many do into kind of a one act show.
Where many comedians and actors become pigeon holed and boxed in to a specific "role" or comedic style that they are placed into whether willing or unwillingly which is repeated ad nauseum in everything they do, shaping the average consumer and what they think comedy is. His specific role has become the short black man who just can't believe the wild and wacky stuff he sees white people and other people from hollywood doing. Basically black man say funny thing usually either centered around race or physical build, while acting as an over exaggerated caricature of themselves and throwing in wacky faces throughout to draw laughs and applause from the consumer.
Not to say this formula and style cannot and has not worked because it has, Richard Pryor for example, but it is ran into the ground and becomes predictable and cliché. Causing comedy lovers to be bored with it and resent the top brass who run the comedy and movie scene, wondering why they take the safest route possible, rarely trying something new until either someone new blows up, or they lose so much money that they eventually are forced to make a change. But American comedians who have historically been different, and/or a bit more intellectual have had massive praise from the UK.
And although you could even say that Tim Heidecker has a style and formula that he has stuck with for a long time that is similar, I think many of his techniques work for the sake of satire, and a commentary on what comedy is to some people. His satire filled sketches are among my favorite comedy pieces of all time as he and Eric along with their like minded team can hit the nail on the head with so many small, hidden jokes packed throughout that the more astute viewers and people who have seen many programs similar to the parody, that it becomes an overload of comedy gold. Down to the cinematography, CGI and other graphics used as well as the set pieces, costumes, and overall presentation being shown and performed so accurately that even multiple viewing will reveal some hidden gem that although right there on the screen may not have been noticed before, yet is intentionally inserted as just another piece to the cliché styles so many types of media use.
Sorry for the book, but I love that these guys are and have been for the past few years getting more and more recognition from mainstream comedians, actors, studios and audiences because they haven't changed or gotten stale during their success. This gives me good hope for the future of mainstream comedy at least, hopefully ushering in a more open minded, experimental approach. With the top brass willing to laugh at themselves a bit and try something a bit more untested to general audiences which I believe if normalized may exponentially improve the future productions, the evolution and health of comedy movies as a genre as well as the stand up community.

Running around waving their arms around wildly while jogging in time with the loud, generic royalty free uplifting music blaring in the background. All while the practically stadium full of people clap incessantly, and scream with some of them bursting into tears and hitting their knees, overcome with excitement and joy, shaking uncontrollably and thanking whatever God they believe in. Just watch Tim and Eric's Zone Theory stuff, specifically their interviews for the perfect personality types on display.
