    Possibly the worst garden pest - especially if they want to use your garden soil as a toilet and leave the their smelly poop for you or your family to find!
    Apart from being unpleasant and smelly, cat poo also potentially contains harmful toxins / bacteria.
    Cats are highly sensitive to smell and creatures of habit - once they have left their poo in your garden they can be drawn back by the smell and quickly form a habit.
    In short we need to remove the source of their scent - ie their poo - wash away any residual smell and replace it with another smell .. in this video we are using strong smelling herbs such as Lavender and Chives to hide the cat scent.

    Hi. If you have a dog, you have to clean after him or you will be fined right? Why cat owners are not responsible exactly the same way for their pupils ? Special privilege or something? Why their animals are free to walk everywhere, you must keep your dog on leash you can't let him free. Cats owners have no responsibility whatsoever yet Cats carry disease, they should be kept indoors only.

      Totally sick to the back teeth with neighbours cat. I agree why shouldn’t the owners be fined. I have special bedding flowers, yet, I’m the one who has to fork out for protection for flowers. Don’t get me wrong I love animals but trying to have wildlife in my garden especially birds is impossible due to this creature from hell, dead birds and feathers strewn throughout my garden, owner laughs in my face when I confront them. Don’t get me started on their dog. Sspca have had many visits but they seem to get away with more than enough. Anyway I’m ranting. But I agree , something should be in place. Trying to have a nice garden and it being destroyed by someone else’s animals😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬

    Its bad how much we have spent on keeping other peoples animals from pooping in our garden, ive now had to spend more on an auto water sprayer, as 2 cats have ignored everything we have put down, and poop every night, fingers crossed this will be enough to keep them away and make them change their route at night.

      @@rogthegardener1 I would never hurt one, but in the day if I catch one entering our property i use the hose pipe on them, not a single one hangs around when the hose is on them, where the problem has come up is between 22:00 and 06:00, I have cameras up and ive watched their pattern, a couple now know they can pass and use the garden how they want, between these hours, but this has also included digging up bulbs. The auto sprayer I have sent for I hope will do the trick, plus I can move it around the garden, so they wont know where the water is going to come from each night, I`ll let you know if it works. All the best with your deterring them ;)

    we have a major cat poop in raised bed gardens issue. we tried wire mats layed across the tops of the gardens but that was more of a gardening preventative than a cats pooping in garden preventative. next we poured a slurry of blended citrus (overripe oranges etc from local food bank, 2 five gallon buckets worth!) along the edge of our raised bed gardens as a scent deterrent. at the same time we built neighboring outside litter boxes. 2 months later i can report no success in keeping cats from pooping in gardens. we have resigned ourselves to manually removing the cat poop from the gardens as we find it. my suggestion for fencing and other designs for living harmoniously with nature is to put well thought out plans in place prior to beginning the new activities. it is much easier to train humans and animals to operate within your systems versus retroactively trying to RE-train them. for example if groundhogs are accustomed to coming into your garden no fencing improvement will stop them but if you design the proper fence initially you wont have a problem. we imagine the same is true for cats pooping in your garden, we think if we would have used our techniques originally before the cats became accustomed to pooping in the garden maybe that would have worked.

      Thanks Todd for your comment, it sounds like you have had a nightmare time of it - I hope you win the battle, all I can say is that the method in the video has worked for me in all of my gardens ... it does require perseverance (up to about a month to 'break the cats habit') and quick removal of the poop as well as adding the covering scent - good luck!

    Nice to see an option besides Tiger Poo. I have been told that pepper is also effective, though I doubt this works in the rain.

      @rogthegardener1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Gavin - yes anything that masks the cats scent will help deter them (especially if their poo scent is removed) but as you say pepper can wash through quickly ... the larger chunks of herbs or the 'scaredy cat plant' when available in spring will last longer 👍

    I’ve already read that someone already tried the lavender trick and the cats kept pooping there. Also, are you people going to stay up all night with a water pistol, waiting for a cat to come by, since cats are more nocturnal … totally stupid ideas. Lemon peels, scattered throughout your garden should be the best bet.

    • @rogthegardener1
      @rogthegardener1  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi thanks for your message 😀!
      No need to stay up all night and n my experience 😆, I guess we can all see what works for us … and I am confirm that the method in the video (and perhaps the most important part of that method - and the least popular- is to remove the poo as that is what will draw them back for another visit) what ever alternative scent we put down either herbs or lemon peel will be much more effective if the scent of their poop has gone … it has worked for me in several gardens over the last 40 years.
      Thanks again for your message - good luck, please keep us posted with your progress 👍

    Will the lavender still work after it has rained? I've exhausted pretty much every option: garlic, citrus peels, pepper, filling the grass up with plants and making sure there's no open dirt area etc. The little shitters keep coming back and I keep vomiting merely by walking next to my house, it's disgusting.

      Hi, thanks for your comment / question.
      Oh no - it sounds like you are having a bad time.
      I am afraid that any herb or other smell treatment you put down will get washed away / lose its scent in rain, I had to regularly refresh our layer of herbs after all the rain we get were in Wales.
      but also to stress that in addition to adding herbs it is important to remove their poo, add any pieces of thorny prickly stems ( I use old rose stems with big thorns) and maybe a squirt of water if you get a chance!
      In addition we tried something new this year in a different garden which is quite simple and seems to be very effective .. although I am not sure how / why .. !
      Here's the link to a video about the new method we have used successfully th-cam.com/video/Tgv0vHNxRD0/w-d-xo.html

I may put fish oil in water pistol.the alarms let me know n I've got a couple of shots in. great Robins which I love skit about under them but I see the cat less even though neighbour tries to let it out at night when dark. Can't afford the litter box don't buy the cat surely? I also have mesh so it is a major task to tackle. at least w the alarms I'm not constantly tense on the lookout I could relax.

      @rogthegardener1  29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Steve, yes I’ve had the same problem.
      The same principles apply
      - remove their poop
      - wash the area
      - add a different smell using garlic/mint/scaredy cat plant any strong smelling plant material cut up into small pieces and scattered around the area .. and also along the route that the cat uses to access that area.
      - repeat as necessary… it can take a few weeks to break the cats habit.
      - we have also enjoyed more recent success with a clear bottle of water half filled just laying on the grass or soil near where the cat has pooped … not sure why this works but has worked for us, and others, especially if used in conjunction with the other measures mentioned above… hope that helps?
      I will put a link to my more recent video featuring the ‘bottle of water trick’ in the reply below
