What makes Higher Jiu Jitsu special?

What is it about our school that makes it so awesome? What are the characteristics of our culture that make it so awesome?
Firstly, it's the curriculum. Every student is on the same path, and together we move in a similar direction. And it's also more than that.
At Higher we focus on jiu jitsu as a science, and as a lifestyle. It isn't just a sport for us, it's a way of life.
Maybe if we considered jiu jitsu as a sport first and foremost we would lose motivation to train without competitions. A UFC fighter wants to fight under the bright lights. An NBA player wants to play the game.
Yet when we think of jiu jitsu as an art, and as a lifestyle, the main event is in the act of heading to class, and learning, and improving. That's our focus at Higher. Every day we come to class the prize is hanging out with your crew, and adding details to your understanding, and having fun on the mats.
Our focus therefore isn't on the athlete looking to compete and win. There are so many schools that do this, and do this well. This is not us. I am OK with this.
What we love to devote all of our attention to is on the everyday person doing their best with what they have, day in and out. We build an amazing experience for these people! And by knowing where we shine, we can keep refining this and keep improving for these everyday legends that want to live the jiu jitsu lifestyle.
