I’ve read this series and thought it was only ok. Never really understood the hype it got. You’ve sold me on giving it another go.

These books are some of my favorite reads in my whole collection. Such an insane and fun storyline that crosses so many different genres. The art is pretty awesome as well.
i started my collecting out of nostalgia from my youth about 4 years ago (my older brother owned a cards and comics shop during the heyday). These library editions were some of my first buys. I got them for $15 Canadian because the bottom of book 2 has a ding that doesn't affect reading the volume and isn't very noticeable actually. The seller even sold me the 3 oversized volumes of Bryan K. Vaughn's runaways for the same $15 Canadian. Suffice to say, it started me building the collection.
An absolute bargain and what a way to start a collection, not only with great books but with great deals.
These beautiful books need to come back into print in this format . Given the hype they have received over the years , they would be big sellers. I would be be first in line . Thanks for the excellent review.
Thank you very much! And I think there is a rights issue with the format as dark horse own the printing rights for the size and format. Those rights are running out soon though and I’m sure remender will then print them through image in the same format as black science, deadly class all them…which are basically library editions.
They're getting reprinted this year, available to preorder.

This series is so damned good and these books will always have a place on my shelf. I love the western/space-opera genre mash-up.
And mine, they haven’t left since they came out so they are on for the long haul!

I love this series definitely in my top 10 it’s just a great blend of pulp sci-fi and western and Tony Moore is a favourite of mine so these were a must for me

Chris, would u put Remender up there with Lemire as a writer? To me this is his magnum opus n one of his best work if not his best! This guy can have his own top ten titles by himself, great review mate. Cheers!
I wouldn’t and the only reason for that is consistency mainly with his characters as his stories and concepts are always very strong. For example deadly class and black science; both are really strong conceptually have a great premise, but I didn’t like any of the characters. Whereas I think the only Lemire work I didn’t like was Trillium. I love the majority of Remenders work but Lemire is ahead in my opinion. Thank you loads for the kind words btw!

Thank you as always! I did get through Grandville and overall I really enjoyed it. There are some stories that are better than others but in general I enjoyed how fun it was and how it never took itself seriously; just a tough as badger using his head and fists to solve crimes and conspiracies across a steam punk Europe. It’s very action oriented and at times it feels like Sherlock Holmes and James Bond had a badger child. It’s well drawn fast paced, it’s not gonna leave you awestruck like an out and out classic but it’s solidly good all round.

I love these books and really hope they get reprinted. I've got the Final Editions, but would gladly upgrade if they do. Great video as usual man!

Oh man, you just keep pulling out these gems, don't you? I've been looking for these books for at least 2 years now, and they are indeed excruciatingly difficult to get a hold of, especially in decent condition due to their glorious size. Did you pick these up while they were still in print?

Does this series contain any sexuality or nudity?
There are one or two sex scenes but nothings that lasts more that a page or even a few panels. Shows a bum and the bodies silhouette but nothing overly gratuitous tbf. Loads of human on alien violence not much sex or nudity at all.
