- Follow along with Milie’s journey of leaning to drive a manual car. In todays lesson we started on dual carriageways going upto 40mph. Changing into 4th gear and using engine brake on approach to stops.
We also worked on big crossroads, doing nearside and offside turns.
What to do if the traffic infront turns against the rod markings?
We also worked on keeping up to the speed of the road to change lanes at 40mph.

I remember my first time driving on a dual carriageway way, I was so nervous. Once you adjust to the speed and you develop your anticipation skills, it’s actually so much easier than driving around a small busy town.

I just got my Auto bout a month ago, but now that im comfortable driving and with how helpful these videos have truly been, i have confidence to give manual a go, and super excited as well becuase it looks more engaging than auto 😁
And the best thing - i can then buy the sports cars that only come in manual transmission, that ive always wanted 😍
definitely give it a go i say! its always good to have that manual licence there so you have the choice of both

15:17 I’ve been taught to change gears later (block changing) you’re mostly likely going to be coasting if you’re going down all your gears and brakes are a lot better than they used to

I feel stressed just looking at that roundabout. I live in a much quieter area than that so I never went around any big roundabouts when I was learning to drive so I've had to get used to them since I've passed a couple of years ago and some of them still stress me out.
I passed my driving test thanks to u and now I drive my Cherokee JEEP to school❤️

I was wondering if I could take one of these tests, I’m from Denmark where the rules for getting a driver license is also pretty strict but we do drive on the right side of the road.

22:05 I'm confused. Why can't the white car follow the lorry in.
Hey its because only two cars usually go onto the junction, so the white car would have been waiting in the space we would turn from.
if they come in then we get blocked and if the same happened behind us then both sides get blocked
so always make sure you only have 2 cars waiting in the junction, the lorry makes up the two car space :)
I am struggling changing gear from 2nd to 3rd.whenever i am doing that it went to 1st instead of 3rd.can you please tell me how to do it smoothly and correct
When coming out of 2nd gear place the palm of your hand at the back of the gear lever and just move the gear up (no pressure) very lightly let it pop back into neutral and then go forward into 3rd ( you don’t need to do this in one motion, take it as two steps) neutral and then up
You’re only ending up in 1st if you put pro much pressure and push the gear lever slightly left and it doesn’t go into neutral
That gear change can be very dangerous if you’re speed if too fast and you engage 1st (engine brake can be sudden)

Was it necessary to go down all these gears to second when slowing down for the lights? Can you stop at the red light when in 3rd gear and then go to first to move again?
Yes that’s correct
But for new drivers it’s a good idea to get used to engine braking and that way they have more control over the speed of the car
It’s more just to practice the motion and know how to control the speed if needed

@@SylviaHelliwell good luck! Always brake and slow down the speed and then change gears or just press the clutch and stop
You don’t need to change through the gears. Just keep the car controlled
Avoid pressing the clutch down too early (mainly at high speeds)
