What drives me nuts is companies listing many jobs that are really not jobs. They won't hire anyone for the position or even interview someone, but they try to show job openings to show growth.

From my understanding, a lot of these job "openings" are there just so the company can say that they could not find a qualified American after 2 weeks. Then the company goes and hires someone under an H1B visa. The H1B visa holder will tolerate lower pay, more hours, worse conditions, poorer treatment and other worse conditions more than an American will since their stay in the US depends on the visa. The immigration system needs a full stop, and a complete overhaul. There are very limited resources to go around nowadays, so why are we feeding the neighbors kids across the street instead of our own?

@@robertlindey2538 The feminist movement was a calculated political gambit to tax the untaxed, just under half of the working age adult population. It worked because once enough women decided to enter the workforce, it forced price increases across the board as people could spend more. This was then compounded by easy credit and here we are... everything is over valued relative to it's real worth. And now the government, out of desperation due to it's inability to cut spending, is grasping at everything under the sun to pay for it's runaway debt service problem. We know a number of people who have family or friends over here on the east coast that cannot find work. It is very difficult and frustrating. Twice as much money as I was making just a couple of years ago. I'm not having any trouble finding work but I know that will end soon. I've been doing this for almost 50 years and I know it when I see the writing on the wall. I live in Texas and builders are still building houses. How can people afford it? I think when the shit hits the fan, its going to be a shit storm like we've never seen. Walmart is spending billions on there new corp. training facility in Arkansas. I don't know how even ?Walmart can afford the money they are spending on building for training. Then all the tech companies spending billions on the data centers all over the country. I guess the government is paying for most of them for the upcoming invisible money we will be using soon. Why else are they putting these buildings up all over the country? Its getting scary!

As a caregiver to the eldery, Dan is 100%. BUT, it goes BOTH WAYS. A woman I was live-in companion for for a year or so, I discovered, was being robbed by her kids. One was stealing her meds (yep, Opiods), and the other was clearing out her good jewelry, little by little. I told her brother, he came investigated and found what I said to be true. He and his wife basically conducted their own sting investigation, including video and audio recordings. Police, Social Services, her Kaiser doctor, service providers, and concerned neighbors all participated. You'd think that the situation got straightened out. You'd think. How could it not with all the evidence? Well, it didn't. The brother ended up being threatened, and I ended up with a TRO! Her kids bled her dry, moved her to a cheap accommodation. She deteriorated and is now in a crappy cheap care home. Criminals rule in CA. It is disgusting. I'm moving out of CA, have my stuff in storage, and am ready to go. I was a few years ahead of you. Right now it does feel a lot like 2006 to 2008. It was a total sham watching median home prices grow to where only the top two thirds of a percent of incomes could actually afford to buy them by traditional lending standards. But that's where we were by the end of 2005. I think affordability might be even lower now than it was when that all went to pot.

Yes Dan California is pretty. The economy and government administration has brought the once prosperous middle class to its knees with a gun pointed at the back of its head. $6/gal gas is horrible, it’s $4.50 in Nevada where I now live. I left California in 1988 and have never looked back. My life has improved and the quality of life is awesome on the eastern slopes of the Sierra Nevada Mountains near Lake Tahoe. The first thing of the three things that change health is: lose weight. Change your diet. Avoid white sugar like it's the plague. Second: do some form of exercise on a daily basis, or every 2nd or 3rd day of the week, for example on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Third: contemplate your situation, be it professionally, financially, mentally, or socially and do some steps to improve them, at least in one area. Health is not just exercise and eat (less) and indulging in facts and statistics, it's also imagination. Dare to dream and use your imagination and your fantasy. Life is not just bread and water and the occasional glass of wine. It's also believing in some sort of myth.

I made a video about this - I am a constant job seeker using indeed (I don't work for them or make any money) and something I would do regularly was to see how many jobs were in a city just by putting in the name of the city for example Raleigh, NC without a job title and that would give me the # of jobs. For years, since around 2012, Raleigh, NC would typically have 49k-50k jobs. Want to know how many they have now? 20k-22k jobs!!!! Yes, less than half. I happen to know because I would look at Raleigh a lot. I don't know if anyone else has done this - but another example is that Philly had between 80k-90k jobs, Houston, TX had around 120k jobs - go look now - all these cities have HALF the # of jobs they had prior to 2021 or less!!!! I encourage everyone to start tracking this in all the major cities.

Also, just a few years ago, my phone would constantly ring from recruiters. Now my phone is silent. The last couple of years, the only work I can find is contract work. Fortunately, I had sold my house and I could retire now. I tell young men to strive to be debt free, if possible. Also, I mostly eat at home because of the ridiculous prices at the restaurants. The housing crisis has been a thing ever since “The Suburban Experiment” of the 1950s kicked off. Older dense neighborhoods and railways were completely bulldozed to make way for cars. Zoning laws and parking minimums waste so much land are preventing density. Public transit overall has been underfunded to this day. And more suburbs means more car dependency.

Zillow with their z estimate is causing property taxes everywhere to stay high. People think their houses are worth more but they're really just getting clobbered with more taxes. The government's raking in the bucks so they're all in with it too.

Flower Field in Carlsbad, North County of San Diego is really beautiful. I was there about 12 years ago back in 2012. Can't believe time goes by so fast. I miss San Diego for the weather, I'm in the Mid West now. I love it.
