Thanks for snagging some awesome video of this- I missed them in the Waterford and Schenectady locks- was out camping. Did I detect some cigar smoke during some of the videoing??!!
@@HEC350 HA! Well, seriously, thanks for all your canal videos- especially of the commercial traffic. Ever since the Genesse Beer barges double-locking through, I've been most curious on seeing how the capstan was used to bring the lead barge fully out- especially on the lowering locks. Now I know... My dad used to take me to see the barges lock through every Sunday in Waterford in the late 60s. When I retire, I'll be chasing the barges, too...and do whatever it takes to keep the bugs away- even when there aren't any. Keep 'em comin'!!!
@@HEC350 From the condition of the grass and the area where the bridge used to be I thought maybe ten years ago. Thank you for the update. I live in Texas west of San Antonio. When I watch your videos I always try to get a geographical fix on where you are. The bridge in the satellite view was really throwing me off coz it was clear from your video there is no bridge now.
Thank you for sharing!
Thanks , good video.
So nice seeing a working barge on the canal instead of just pleasure bosts
15 miles on the Erie Canal. And we know every inch of the way from Albany to Buffalo

Google Satellite shows a bridge just west of the downstream gates of Lock 21. When was the bridge removed?
