    I have two SG1500s, almost identical to this guitar. They are amazing! Those bridges and tailpieces are virtually impossible to replace!

    Yamaha makes killer stuff. Not many guitars companies can say that they built my first dirt bike.

    These are great guitars. My first electric was a '70's Yamaha SG-85 with ebony fingerboard, basically the single cutaway version of this style. Still have it, weighs more than my Les Paul. Paid $279 new in 1975.

    I have a black SG510 and an SG1000 like this one. Fantastic guitars and electrics.

    Those Yamaha SG's and SBG's were fantastic machines. Rik Emmett played an SBG3000 during the Triumph Thunder 7 tour. Very heavy guitars with amazing sustain and tone. I'm sure that git is gonna sell quick.

    Yamaha is nice guitar! 1977-84 the SG 1000 was made in Japan and then the SG 2000 in 1979. Gibson quality is why these guitars are desirable, notice the tail piece screws and the bridge screws are set in the wooden top like a screw that screws down. This type of bridge connecting the wooden maple top to the electronics is great Gibson design that Japanese guitar builders incorporated into Their handmade vintage guitars.

    I never heard of this model, but it's a very nice Japanese made guitar. Mahogany body with a maple cap with a mahogany neck and ebony fretboard. I saw some pics of ones in excellent shape with original cases going for almost $2K. Very nice looking guitar when cleaned up.

    The early SG-1000 didn't have split coils. But, that, being an early 80s one has push/push pots. Don't try to pull on them, or you'll break em.

    Those are great guitars Dane. I’ve owned a few of them. They rival the Gibson’s.

    Request that you get a scale and give weight of guitars you have for sale. Its a important factor that most need to know.

    • @davidkastin4240

      I use a fish scale recommended by Phillip McKnight.

    Very beautiful guitar, Frank Navetta played an SG1000 in the early days of the Descendents and it sounds killer.

    I'd call the inlays split deltas.
    Not a fan of heavy guitars, but very nice instrument overall.

    I have always wanted a Yamaha SG, however, they hardly ever come up for sale in the UK and the ones that have were not in the best of condition, the ones in Japan and the States cost an arm and a leg in shipping costs, I wish Yamaha would re-issue them, especially the 3000 Custom, this is what I really want.
    I have been going back in time watching all the episodes I missed before finding this great channel.
    I have to clean my fretboards every time I change strings, I find those plastic razor blades are great for getting the fret cheese off without any damage at all to the fretboard. I don't know how anyone could touch their guitar with a cheesy fretboard!
    Hey Dane, what is your favourite cleaning product for satin body finishes?

  • @dmmedic34
    @dmmedic34 ปีที่แล้ว

    About dirty fretboards- I only clean and oil mine about once or twice a year. Wipe it down after every play. I once had a guitar back in my infancy of guitar playing, and I fell into the “every string change” thing (no disrespect to those who do that). I would nearly marinate the board. It eventually got “spongy” after a time.

    Turns out your "airplane wing" idea had legs, Dane. I looked up this model, and it appears that the actual name for the inlay pattern WAS "Split Wing!"

    Nice guitar, I remember Santana used one. Looks like from the 80s to me. Some of these had a lot of switches for coil taps and phase switching
    Inlays look like a camping tent!

      According to the serial number, it's just end of 1980 or very early 1981.

    I love an SUV Yamaha but my ring complain is I do not like through the neck type of guitars I don't mind a set neck or bolt on I just donated when the Nickels to the body other than that I think the Yamaha SG is great especially if it's left-handed like I am

    • @tomireunanen8033
      @tomireunanen8033 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually the SG1000 is a set neck guitar. The SG2000/3000 are neck-thru.
