To all those watching this video, his name is Elmer Churampi and he won the undergraduate division.
*****He won the Undergraduate Division the year before this in 2015; he did in fact win the Graduate Division in 2016!
He's such an expressive player and has the chops to make it happen. Gorgeous tone. The phrasing is abrupt. But he's a kid. I look forward to lots more great music from Mr. Churampi.

JOSE Andino martinez Go and listen to Brandon ridenour’s (original) version and you will understand. Elmer plays the whole thing technically perfect. Bite he’s much faster than the original. I love Elmer but prefer ridenour’s aproach
Honestly don’t understand the praise for the guy. He’s got no style, no sense of professionalism. Been listening to a bunch of different recordings, and they all sounds exactly the same: Mariachi. That’s all. Be that a classical concerto, or a light jazzy piece like this, still all sounds the same, overblown and inaccurate.
