this tutorial is a bit outdated but after tweaking around with it a little bit, I got it instead of the circle needing to be white it actually needs to be black now to apply the opacity mask, on the other easy hand there is an option under the objects menu at the bottom that says cliping mask and should also make this process easier. thank you for the tips.
need to make a brochure for an association. I was able to make the photo round but when I move it to the other tab the screen turns completely white. pls help :(((
How come your circle is visible after adding a picture on top of it?? When I add an image, the circle stay behind the picture, so that I cannot select both image and circle to do the clipping mask!!
is there not a tool that already allows you to make basic shapes as placeholders with capability to link and place graphics instead of creating clipping masks?

When you added the three pictures, why didn't they appear on top of the three circles?
Whenever I add more then one pictures in illustrator my PC speed is reduced so much. Is there any way to avoid this?
It may happens due to storage full, illustrator version may not be suitable for your pc or may be ram issue.
