Does the receiver have to be connected to another device in order to use and record? Or can it be used on its own and then transfer the audio files to another device? Thanks

I am having trouble connecting. I have a pixel google phone. So i connect the receiver to my phone(two mics are on) then i go to camera...Video and start recording...im talking.....talking but when i stop recording and take disconnect the plug drom my phone ...it seems as though nothing was recording sound....what am i doing wrong ...
