- Five police officers have been hospitalized after being shot during a standoff at a Phoenix home early Friday morning that involved a baby needing to be brought to safety, authorities said. The officers had been responding to a 911 call at a home where a woman had reportedly been shot. The first cop that arrived at the scene was shot at “multiple times” and was wounded by a suspect, who was barricaded inside the home. Miraculously, the baby was uninjured.
So sad the mother didn't make it out. Domestic Violence is real and disgusting

I'd like that guy meet the baby in 10 years and have a heart felt conversation about what he was trying to do for in that moment.
The man that was holding the baby was trying to save her, Rest In Peace to the mother and I hope anyone physically and emotionally harm in this can fully recovered.

Nope, the baby was used to set up the police. Too many rushed in to grab the baby and thats how so many were shot.They meant well, it was a bad move, but I'm just on the sidelines watching after the fact.

I remember a LOT since I was like 1-2 years old and even earlier. You'll never be sure if they remember or forget it.
Unfortunately, infant brains can and do remember trauma. Sounds and smells especially. Wouldn't be surprised if she developes an exaggerated startle response, anxiety, etc. Ptsd in infants is incredibly damaging

I'm guessing that the other guy there is a relative or friend who was there during the domestic issue and the father with gun told him that he can leave with the baby and get the baby out of harms way. I think the police instructed that man to put the baby down where he did and walk backwards to them with his hands up. I don't think he just put the baby there for the hell of it. I think this was a murder suicide type situation. He may have fired on police to do a suicide by cop thing or he could have just had something against cops and wanted to take some of them out too. To be honest- most victims of domestic violence got primed for it in their own family/upbringing. I’m not saying necessarily that there was domestic violence in the family, but usually factors of toxic family situations that lead them to be magnets to narcissistic abusers. Speaking from experience. Also, it was a baby girl :)

I've told this story several times. When I was 19, myself and two other men stopped a man from beating his wife to death, in a parking lot. The husband and wife were both extremely drunk. When the police got there, the wife, that we saved, told the police that we attacked them. The police officers did not believe them. The senior officer pulled us aside and told us point blank, (you should have let him kill her). This is the fourth drunken domestic abuse incident we've responded to involving this couple. Either she will kill him or he will eventually kill her. That is how this situation always ends.
The officer was right. Never involve yourself in a domestic situation. Always just call the cops.

So instead of the police offering outreach services to the couple, they just show up to the call, ask some questions, maybe haul someone away, and in a day or two they're back out again repeating the cycle.
That's what's wrong with the system.
If a court can order someone to do rehab for drugs and alcohol, they sure can do it for domestic abuse. Like, courts also make people take anger management classes. It seems like that city just didn't care.
