I caught that too. SimonFordman and LR TIME are my two favorites at this point. There's an authenticity and sincerity that most other similar channels can't match.
You two do all these things with such joy, good humour and good nature making your videos truly uplifting to watch. Oh, and yes, what a stunning shifter boot Vera..... ;-)
Yes indeed a brave man to undertake that nightmare of a job, the person who designed anything like this on a car should be forced to replace it before being paid & having it signed off..
I’m astounded, a job easier to do then on a Landcruiser lol My friend Mike attempted to change the heater core on his Landcruiser it was a complete dashboard out, we are no strangers to horrible jobs but this is a walk in the park compared to his Toyota lol Have a great Christmas and New Year from me in the UK
And today on “How the Worm Turns” we watch Christian skilfully negotiate the vagaries of marriage in Germany to a highly religious “oh my god” wife. Will he fix everything? Will things ever be the same again? Stay tuned LT Timesters!! 😂😂
The thing that looked like a ‘really big heater with big wires’ is the heat sink for the fan speed controller, it sticks into the fan air flow to keep it cool.
I admire your corage of disasembling everything, put the parts in the right order and finally being able to put everything running perfectly. Congratulations to you both. Cheers from Portugal. By the way, I don’t know nothing about cars but I like to see your videos and the support you give each other. 👍

what fantastically shiny shifter boot, totally majestic Vera TC
After watching all your videos, I now feel confident enough to buy a second Discovery-a Disco Sport. This also means the TD5 will no longer be the only one in the garage. Thanks for al your lessons. Have a nice Christmas.
A difficult job well done as always by Vera and Christian....happy I have had my LR fix now....always makes me chuckle....how many divorces today...Thank you Vera and Christian...
Christian that was a brilliant video showing every bit to help all other owners who may want to take on this problem (not me ) much to involved for me , excellent camera work as usual also very good voice control when needed. And finally that is a very good looking gear shift boot you have had fitted Vera it compliments the whole interarea of the car.
Wow, that shifter boot is sensational. Is it new? Gees Christian, I admire how you just launch into the disassembly and re-assembly without hesitation.
Very good video this week, changing a stereo is about as far as I dare to go into the mysteries of dashboard disassembly and C&V just nailed it easily. I just changed the oil/filter on my LC150, owing to stuck and rusty undertray bolts took 3 days and 90€ on a blow torch and tools….even LRTime has bits dropped and leftover bits so having that video camera going full time is a real help
We did not get many 'click click's' but at least we got the old 'wishwash fluid', Thanks for the enthralling content. Plus one on the 'nice shifter boot'.
I don’t repair cars. Wouldn’t know where to start. I watch these two for the entertainment value. Second to none. Happy Christmas to you and your family.
This must be deja-vu. my 2007 LR3 has been blowing cold, probably most of the year but now i need heat, i didn't have it! I went thro' the blender motor checks just as you did and found the passenger side was faulty. Removed glove-box to access passenger servo, it was sticking so i 'fixed' it into heat mode. still no heat, but my issue was resolved by flushing the matrix through with a cleaner for a couple of hours. Problem solved, now got heat. I'm so glad i was lucky enough not to need to replace the matrix, such a lot of work. Great video guys !!
Great video. Again, giving us a good appreciation of what is involved. Back in the 80s I thought replacing the heater core on my Range Rover was a difficult job, this is much more involved. Another difference, your repair was successful. The heater in my 81 Range Rover was not great even after replacing the heater core. Perhaps I didn't bleed it properly.
You tackled this task in the correct professional way however there is a simpler method that involves making a cut in the side kick panel to remove it to gain access to the heater matrix, apparently any cutting is unnoticeable after reassembly.
Another great video, what a complicated process to replace the heater matrix. On L320 someone has discovered that by cutting away some plastic trim and removing the rh lower trim panel the matrix will come out. I wonder if this applies to disco 3 as the vehicles share so much ?
Ice box? I drove a 1973 Dodge D series pickup for a couple of years. It started overheating so my dad "fixed it" and no longer had heat. During the ice storms in the winter of 1987 I had to stop and scrape ice from the outside AND inside of the windshield.
Hi to both of you. Another fantastic video and a more in-depth one the dreaded heater matrix job Christian you make every repair look so easy you give all the budding mechanics the in sight to try and do these jobs thanks. Have a great Christmas both of you ❤
Again a wonderful video. I really enjoyed it. Even the “ Oh My God” bits I could not see a LR garage doing all that just to change the heater Rad and oh yes it’s a lovely gear shift thing. From Kilkenny Ireland
Its amazing when you see each indvidual component that's been designed, moulded, engineered etc. Although I'm sure Kristian would do most of them completely different!
Wow no comments yet from the butchers that I saw on facebook groups that simply hacksaw a big chunk out off the right hand side of the trim panel to allow the matrix to slide out in a few minutes. Luckily for me, isolating my matrix from the rest of the cooling system allowed me to flush my matrix in both directions to loosen the trapped detritus. Then I filled it with kettle descaling fluid. I left it in for a few hours then flushed again All warm and toasty again after bleeding the system.
Christian/Vera awesome video on the heater matrix, this reminds me of replacing the heater motor on a Volvo 240 series ,it was known as the worst to change in the industry, you must open both sides of the system to access the motor for the faint has dual shafts and a fan on each end, so it is much the same as this , just shy of all the electronics you dealt with removing and i lost the heat in my car driving to work this past Wednesday morning at 5am in -29 celsius temps here in Winnipeg and they also set record cold temps for this time of year in a few spots west of me one was -35.6 and the other was -37.4 celsius without the windchill, i was able to get the heat back in my car at work in our loading dock it was only 15 celsius which is better than -29 outdoors, when i do the fan on the Volvo over the the holidays i will attempt to heat the garage with 2 10,000 btu electric construction heaters i own, some heat is better than no heat in our climate 👍you work with the care and efficiency of a great mechanic and i am jealous of the lathe in your kitchen
Great video I look forward to Sunday just to watch your latest video. I'm glad I have retired now and will never need to do a job like that. Merry Christmas and happy new year to you both. Greetings from Scotland 🏴
Top job as always, thanks to you both for your hard work. I still have the blend motors to change on our P38…..and I intend to do that the full dash out way, proper like!
I think I would have figured out how to hook up a pump to circulate cleaning solution through that core before doing all that work. Also, since the pipes are visible in the passengers footwell it seems likely that cutting away some of the transmission tunnel would let you get the core out. Kudos to you for doing it the hard way/proper way.
After todays video I'm so glad that my heater core unblocked when I flushed it with a cheap flush gun connected to an air line and hose pipe. Epic repair. And you know when Vera's had enuf "I'm done talking" 😂
Hi amazing video. Please note that some manufacturers (Toyota) recommends replacing coolant every 2 years or max 20000Km ! Maintenance is important. If you change cooling liquid every 2 years you would never epxperience problems. Greetings from Prishtina Kosoves !
Well done guys. Not sure if you are doing one next Sunday. So I will say now that I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. See you next year.
Nice job. Heater matrix's should really be made serviceable without having to take the entire dash apart! On my Leon tdi (basically a Golf mk7) there is a common heater matrix blocking problem - but the problem is more serious as it also shares the egr cooler micro circuit so if you have a blocked matrix you also boil your coolant after a dpr regen which escapes out your tank cap! VAG say you need to remove the dash to change the matrix with a days + labour! But i discovered you can simply slide out the matrix just removing the glove box and blower motor! I did try flushing it, like 5 times and it would work for a few months before ejecting my coolant! In the end replaced the matrix and has been fine for 3 years.
Interesting to see that the 1995 BMW era Range Rover p38's HVAC design issues were never really resolved on much later 20 plus years on subsequent Land Rover products (blend flap motor wear and failure, crossflow heater matrix internal blockage and o ring coolant leaks in to the cabin.) If I remember correctly , the HVAC plastic casing would also warp and bind up the blend flaps too.causing wierd issues ) On the P38 the time of replacing the matrix could be shortened greatly by cutting out a brace under the glove compartment which enabled access to the heatercore without removal of most of the dash centre stack. Land Rover could have easily made the brace removable but of course they choose not too. One of the reasons I quit buying LR products and went over to stress free Toyota Tundra ownership (off now to make myself a coffee)
Guten Morgen christian and vera. A difficult job done well.i had a mechanic change the heater matrix on my discovery 3 in 20 minutes by only lifting the centre council.happy christmas 🎄 🎅🎅
Hi Christian/Vera, I was watching another video when a notification of your video popped up and of course yours has priority. Now regarding my wife’s Audi heating settings are set at hot all of the time, if there was a setting for Flame Thrower she would prefer that setting. Me 😇 Her 🥶 Have a wonderful Christmas and a super New Year guys
A masterclass in speed disassembly/assembly! What a debacle though! I once had a heater matrix ‘let go’ in an old Ford Escort on the way to work. The whole car filled up with steam and misted up all the windows Focused the mind at 60 mph. Wasnt worth fixing at the time but they are now worth a fortune in the UK.
Goodness me! Seeing all that come to pieces, like an impossible puzzle, I'm with Vera..."oh my God!"
You have no idea how much joy you give me watching these vids, thank you.
What a lovely shifter boot Vera 😇
26:44 I love you two. The reference to the quiet serenity of a SimonFordman video was a real laugh!
I caught that too. SimonFordman and LR TIME are my two favorites at this point. There's an authenticity and sincerity that most other similar channels can't match.
It's a very lovely shifter boot!
nice shifter boot sensed a sleeping on couch moment there 😂
The shifter is first class 👍great video
You two do all these things with such joy, good humour and good nature making your videos truly uplifting to watch. Oh, and yes, what a stunning shifter boot Vera..... ;-)
They can edit out the arguments. 😂😂😂
I bow to your bravery, that was worse than body off chassis refurb. Well done Christian and well done Vera for keeping quiet 🤣
Yes indeed a brave man to undertake that nightmare of a job, the person who designed anything like this on a car should be forced to replace it before being paid & having it signed off..
The thing that you where looking at is the fan speed resistor, so if your fan not working it could be the problem. Great video ❤
If I recall coorectly when the fan speed resistor fails it's either off or full speed, nothing in between.
@@lincolnengland5005it should go full speed with no resistance if it has failed.
Also known as a 'Hedgehog'. ;-)
@@samrodian919 If it has PWM speed controller,, it usually has two failure modes. 1: Fan runs 100% all of the time 2: fan doesn't run at all.
I've been putting off doing my blend doors for a while because I have Vera's mindset when it comes to pulling a dash apart.
I’m astounded, a job easier to do then on a Landcruiser lol
My friend Mike attempted to change the heater core on his Landcruiser it was a complete dashboard out, we are no strangers to horrible jobs but this is a walk in the park compared to his Toyota lol
Have a great Christmas and New Year from me in the UK
Are you sure its harder to do on the Toyota or is it you are not used to using tools/ taking things a part like a LR/RR owner 😂
@josephgittos3787 No we are vehicle engineers of many years the Toyota heater core is utterly buried compared to this
And today on “How the Worm Turns” we watch Christian skilfully negotiate the vagaries of marriage in Germany to a highly religious “oh my god” wife. Will he fix everything? Will things ever be the same again? Stay tuned LT Timesters!! 😂😂
the two ronnies? the worm that turned series?
@ Yes! 😂😂
What a performance to change such a small heater matrix. No wonder these cars are so expensive to repair. Brilliant work.
That was quite the quest you went on - respect for taking it on and seeing it through.
The thing that looked like a ‘really big heater with big wires’ is the heat sink for the fan speed controller, it sticks into the fan air flow to keep it cool.
Makes sense. Christian
You have an amazing way of making all your land rovers better than factory well done ,,every Sunday is a must watch
I admire your corage of disasembling everything, put the parts in the right order and finally being able to put everything running perfectly.
Congratulations to you both.
Cheers from Portugal.
By the way, I don’t know nothing about cars but I like to see your videos and the support you give each other. 👍

Just when you thought that Vera couldn’t love her Freelander more…. look at her smiling face at the end ! Enjoy the coming Winter ! 😊
A difficult job well done as always by Vera and Christian....happy I have had my LR fix now....always makes me chuckle....how many divorces today...Thank you Vera and Christian...
🤷♂️ WOW, I think that would be mission impossible for most DIY people, so hats off to your amazing skills, well done.👍👏👏👏👏👍
Christian that was a brilliant video showing every bit to help all other owners who may want to take on this problem (not me ) much to involved for me , excellent camera work as usual also very good voice control when needed. This is classic Christian/Vera. A very pleasurable watching experience. I might re-watch it on Christmas Day as a special treat 😃
Wow, that shifter boot is sensational. Is it new?
Gees Christian, I admire how you just launch into the disassembly and re-assembly without hesitation.
Another great video! It's amazing how you two can repair anything on these vehicles. You know every part of them.

THANK YOU Vera and Christian as always very entertaining, nice boots 😊

Thanks for the ocd fix with the hoover. I feel much better already.
Wow ! Another amazing video from you both.. I can't wait for next Sunday. Stay blessed 🙏
Well that was a long few days of work. Very interesting to see how it all gets dismantled. Many thanks for the video.
Amazing you do this outside ! Great effort.
Spot on you two, yet again. 👍

A job well done. It is never easy navigating so many old plastic clips without breaking them.
Not to mention all the old dropped chips…..
You two are winderful, and what a lovely shifter boot Vera :)
Great job guys! I replaced the heater core coupler months ago, what a mess it was. But Im happy to have warm air on the driver side now haha
New shifter boot looks brilliant. That hole job looked like a major debacle.

Another brilliant video. The beeping vacuum cleaner would annoy me too! 😂
Another riveting video. Be grateful it’s LHD. Did heater core and evaporator on ‘97 RHD BMW 840. Pedal box out. 😱
It’s a nightmare of a job, my bmw e90 has the same issue.
Vera what a lovely shifter boot.
I would probably try a radiator flush and reverse pressure the core.
Very enjoyable video thanks you.
Mine has the same problem… thanks to this video it will definitely be staying that way for my ownership😂
Pleasure watching as usual.

I have done as you say and cut the bracket. Just pop riveted a metal plate in place to hold it together. After all, its not a structural component.
Namaste Christine & Vera The meaning for this quote Namaste The spirit in me salutes the spirit within
you
My god! What a jigsaw puzzle AND no divorce!

Excellant as usual
Great vid as usual, I’d buy a kilo of clips before embarking on a complete dash disassembly like this 😅
Nice shifter boot Vera 👏🏻
Very brave taking all this apart , I’ve forgotten already where half the stuff goes 🤣😂🤣😂 Sunday morning is !! LR time 🤣😂 and I drive a Mercedes 😜
To Christian and Vera, Frohe Weihnachten und ein glückliches neues Jahr, grüße aus dem land down under 🎅

Ever again😅🙋♀️

Great video
