It's personally never bothered me seeing you share affiliate links and would be surprised if any viewers think any worse of you for it, but I completely understand your decision. The desire to feel legitimate and be clearly unbiased is more important than a few extra £s. Keep up the great work 🎉🎉🎉
I don't see any issue with affiliate links, especially for gear you use every day and appreciate. You've grown your channel and your audience, I think you can take advantage of that while staying morally aligned. Only use affiliate links for gear you've personally tested and support for example.
Nothing wrong with having or mentioning affiliate links, as long as you don't pollute your content with it. Think we saw the same video of a certain racer haha.. i honestly think you should keep them
Affiliate links, haven't paid attention to those and I would expect those to exist, and maybe a page with the those and link to that with text "My affiliate links" and all's good
I agree, nothing wrong with links. I watch YT on TV so don't see these link anyway. What I hate are commercial breaks in the middle of a video. Thankfully this channel is free of that crap.
I respect your decision, but I think you're overthinking this. I'd rather you make your money tbh, because you make great content that brightens many of our days. Cheers, Dave
Agree! We all know that you have to earn that bag. And we as viewers don´t care. I actually prefer affiliate links to that "And now we come to the sponsor of this video" that you skip anyways.
Man, doesn't bother me one bit to have affiliate links provided. I use them at times when it's appropriate. I usually go find one of my favorite creators that has a link I want to get a bit of savings. Just my .02 cents
Dave you're a true gentleman sir. I never thought badly about your links, but I respect the reasons for your decision. I hope your channel will continue to prosper.
Appreciate the transparency Dave! I would have no problem keeping the AL links, can't see them unless you look for em anyway. Respect your integrity, it's the right path
Nobody has an issue with affiliate links when it's like "Here's links to the gear I use" and products you absolutely recommend just quietly listed in the description.
100% behind anything you do Dave, I've no issue with ALs but if you do then I appreciate your candour and your decision. I wish you every success in your future monetisation! See you later, cheers :)
I faced this dilemma too. (For those who don’t know, I have a small channel with some affiliate links) I think that having affiliate links for all brands cancels out favouritism to an extent. On paper, at least. What wrecks my head is undisclosed affiliate links. But I can totally see your point and I respect your decision. I also think that sponsored segments annoy people more than affiliate links 🫣 and if you get sponsored by companies whose competitors you have reviewed, that gets super messy too.
Dave I think your personable nature and integrity are at the core of the success of your channel. This is a good call. Best wishes with the future of the channel
bummed, I thought this was going to be about the "Is everyone ok?" shirts merch announcement! kidding aside - it's your channel, do what makes you happy!
What grinds my gears more is youtubers adding in video sponsors when their channel is already monetized, showing adverts and have product placements. Affiliate links..... you're really only see them if you're looking for them and annoys no-one and are the most unobtrusive (to the viewer) way a TH-camr can make money. Personally I wouldn't rely on a TH-cam channel playing a game to put food on the table. I also imagine sponsers pay significantly more than affiliate links.
Sponsors is where the money is and Dave should take it, sponsored parts of a video are easily skippable. It won't kill anyone for Dave to earn more for his family
brilliant dave, big decision but honest blokes like you are few and far between and the help you have gave me on the tracks has been immense since i started a few years ago !!
The fact you have an affiliate link doesn’t mean you endorse and guarantee their product - it means you helped the supplier get the sale in some small way. The way I see it, affiliate links are the industries way of thanking content creators for making their market. Just my 2c
Much respect Dave! Seeing people praising a product and then immediately offering their affiliate link is something that, for me at least, removes most of the credibility. I have never doubted you though, you seem to always give your own honest opinion. Keep it up!
Appreciate your tranceparency Dave huge respect for the personal decision and reasoning behind! I'll interract more with your videos in the future in your favor Cheers and as always Happy days!
I suggest a donation button for Dave guys. Every time we watch his content, if it is helpful for us, we can donate any amount we feel to give for the value he gives to us. ❤
That’s a great idea - I am an old geezer and not sure of how the whole affiliate shit works but would be happy to be able to have a simple route to bung a few quid in the pot every few videos as I look forward to each new one - if I am already missing this please let me know
Respect to you Dave really appreciate your honesty & professionalism - clear as Day I hope it all still works out for you - still got me as a subscriber love your contact starts my day off with a fresh coffee ......
Never thought badly about it either. As a matter of fact I used your link to sign up for iRacing a few weeks ago. I would never think poorly of you for doing what is needed to continue to bring the great content that you do. Your transparency is appreciated.
You do you brother, we'll support you regardless. You are a good man building your brand and business while setting a high bar with your integrity that deserves the all the support. Love from Canada mate!
A number of years ago I watched a video which dragged me down the sim racing hole. I immediately made an aluminum rig and dropped the wallet for everything necessary to get behind the wheel. You, Dave Cameron, are the reason why I enjoy iracing and watching everyone of your videos. Thank you! You can paint your race room fluorescent red if you wish and I'll still watch your content! (I hate red!) I value and appreciate that you are a man of integrity, honesty and high moral standards. Keep keeping on!
Dave you do you.. We are here to support you, otherwise we would be somewhere else.. I value your opinion more than most, when it comes to the Sim racing world, so keep up the great work.
Well said, I can only speak for myself of course, though one of the many things that resonated with me about your content, is your honesty and how genuine you come across. This decession adds continuity and keeps your content true to what has attracted so many to your videos. Keep up the great work and stay true to your values, I'm all to happy to listen to a few ads if thats what it takes to support you, though if its relevant to the content, well thats just an added bonus. You may be known as Dave Cam but I think after this I'll refer to you as Gentlemen Dave.
I’m in the same boat. I won’t take sponsor stuff if it’s got naff all to do with the channel. So I did the watch thing a couple of months ago. Expensive watch that most people won’t afford? Of course. No one said you had to buy it. Is it a cool idea making a watch out of an old f1 car? Absolutely! Had Raid Shadow Legends, VPN services, the works. But won’t touch them. I’ve got the affiliate with the F1 store because that’s relevant, and they fire out discount codes which helps people since that stuff can get expensive. I think it’s at a point where people are sick of adverts, and are of an opinion where if someone takes money for a sponsor ad it’s selling out or whatever. But like you say: this doesn’t pay anywhere as much as people think it does. I wish it did. 🤣
Really love your honesty, Dave. For what it's worth, I feel like you've always done a really good job being clear that the products you discuss (or promote) are ones that you love yourself and are relevant to the community, but I completely appreciate your decision to go one step further. Good on ya - onwards and upwards
Wow, that's a big step and a testament to your character. You're right. When new products come out, companies are sending them out in batches to get "reviewed" by influences, who use clickbait titles like "The New Simucube Killer" to basically show you an ad. You can tell right away. They tell you this well known phrase "the product was sent to me by .... but all opinions are my own" and then they advise you to purchase the product over a link that makes them money. Sim racing is a niche market and even channels like boosted media are relatively small in the grand scheme of youtube things. I mean how unbiased can "influencers" even be, if their main income essentially depends on affiliate programs. Just think about it. If they review a $1000 product, the video gets 100K views and only 1% of those viewers buy the product trough a 5% commission (which btw is on the low side), they earn $50K. I know, it's oversimplified but that's basically how it is, and that's why I take every review with a huge grain of salt.
Weird one for me. I don't mind affiliate marketing as you put it. But sponsored videos always make me feel like I'm being sold something. Either way, keep doing what you do. One of the most genuine channels out there
I think the real takeaway is sponsored videos make more money for him. To be clear, I’m not saying that as a bad thing, I just don’t totally buy the moral take. But to each their own
@@davecamyt fair enough! I should not have speculated like that. I must be underestimating the amount of people buying new gear frequently, sorry about that!
You have a couple mentions during race starts that are nicely integrated and not cloying at all. I really appreciate how you promote what you like and LOVE that you don't sponsor any legends anything, flat-out lying to us that you just LOVE it. LOL Thanks for sharing your thoughts, DC, and keep up the great work, please!
I respect this. Integrity and principle is hard to find in this day and age. I look forward to seeing you out on track. Now we just need to get you into a car for the Le mans 24.
Good video mate. I honestly wouldn't see the issue with affiliate links, but if ethically/morally you are against them, then I think that just shows more about your character than anything else, and another reason I enjoy the content.
Dave, your one of the good guys and very honest about your channel, all of this is really appreciated, and I do really enjoy your videos. I have never had any problems with you having the affiliate links at all, this helps you out and that's good for both of us! I respect your decision, thanks for all your work sharing your videos with us!!
Dave I have always thought of you as a gentleman in the sim racing world. You give an honest opinion on the products you test and I never believed you were doing it for a profit. If I was thinking of buying a product I would always check to see if you had tested it because I knew you weren't being influenced by the manufacturer. Thank you and remain true to yourself we all believe in you.
Dave! I respect you more than I should respect a complete stranger. You’ve a heart of gold. For the countless hours of entertainment you’ve provided to myself and others for free, I’ve never once thought you’re asking too much. Please do whatever makes you most comfortable 🙂
I always do my research before I buy a product anyway. Once I have made my decision I tend to purchase through affiliate links for content creators I enjoy as that is my way of supporting a channel. But I appreciate and respect your decision
Hi Dave, I've been watching your channel since day one, your one of the best content creators on TH-cam. No worries, make your money, and continue with your content. Cheers !!
I have all ways had you as my number one go to with the content that you do !!!!! But now hearing this not only only does it more than confirm just how genuine you and everything that you do is !!!! But all so your just setting an example of a new age !!!!!! Can we as your viewers make a donation of some kind 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Whatever you decide Dave is fine by me. A great channel, my favourite sim racing channel in fact. Also I love the Mrs Davecam channel. Always get a smile.
Dave I read a lot of the comments and I too wait all day for your next video and support you in any decision you make as long as you keep making great content
Thank you Dave! Always a fan watching your videos and love it. To be honest, I initially thought Coach Dave was your company for a long time 🤣. Now folks, can we set up a gofundme page for Dave? 😁
Fully support this. Affiliate links are broken anyway. Every time if tried to use an affiliate link (from other creators) I end up having to bail out of the link and then log in through my own app so the creator doesn’t even get credit, despite me purposefully trying to support them. It still works for the products, but no to little value to the creators. Good luck Dave.

Just my .02 cents
100% Prefer to see channels I like doing well. If affiliate links work and make money for the channel I think there is no harm in them at all.
I totally agree, just make some responsible money. Just dont push it down our throat as you don’t like that as well. ❤
Dave you're a true gentleman sir. I never thought badly about your links, but I respect the reasons for your decision. I hope your channel will continue to prosper.
Always important to do things the way you feel most comfortable.
Big proof of character, I respect and admire you even more!
Cheers and all the best!
Appreciate the transparency Dave! I would have no problem keeping the AL links, can't see them unless you look for em anyway. Respect your integrity, it's the right path
Well said Dave, a true good person, a gentleman with ethics, can be somewhat rare these days. Good for you!

Well said.
Thanks for your hard work, never had a problem with your sponsorships or affiliates. As a seasoned simracer (58 years old) you've been a inspiration!
So generous, thank you 🙏
We love you Dave! I am old bloke as well, hope to be as fast as you someday!
I faced this dilemma too. (For those who don’t know, I have a small channel with some affiliate links)

Yes I see your point would never have two rival brands partnering with the channel where there is a conflict of interests. 😁
It's your sandbox Dave. So make it want you want. Good For you.
Dave I think your personable nature and integrity are at the core of the success of your channel. This is a good call. Best wishes with the future of the channel
It refreshes the soul to see integrity on display on TH-cam of all places today. Thanks Dave.
Dave, you’re a stand up guy. Cheers to doing what makes you feel right.
Good on you Dave, for me you are the only way genuine people should be, open and honest 💪🏻👊🏻🧡
Respect for putting your sense of what's right over cash. Good luck!
You know what Dave, this is actually pleasing to hear. I look forward to seeing more from you.
Greate respect for you Dave to make this decision.
I admire anyone who sticks to their principles, even when the coin is offered. Much respect, DaveCam.
That is a proper men morality that should be much more often! 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽 Hats off for you sir! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Idk, I think the links are OK, it's not like you're telling to use them 5 times per video
Much respect Dave! Seeing people praising a product and then immediately offering their affiliate link is something that, for me at least, removes most of the credibility. I have never doubted you though, you seem to always give your own honest opinion. Keep it up!

I like watching you stream Dave, I have never used or worried about the links. I watch DaveCam for DaveCam 😁

Good on ya Dave. Making a stand that costs you money says a lot about your self. Well done
Your channel, your decision Dave. Never bothered me! You are my go to for sim content.. Keep ‘em coming 😎😍
Love the transparency here man, keep up the great work.
Whatever you’re comfortable will still enjoy your reviews
You do you brother, we'll support you regardless. You are a good man building your brand and business while setting a high bar with your integrity that deserves the all the support. Love from Canada mate!
Honestly, I prefer affiliate links to sponsored content!
Would you be able to do TH-cam or Twitch live? That is where you can make some real monies.
Sponsors is where the money is at, live i based on people'e generosity and sim racers don't donations like big streamers
We support you Dave!
love your content and appreciate the transparency!
Fair play Dave, no doubt members will continue to support
absolutely ok . to be honest i never bought anything from any affiliatelink anywhere so for me nothing change here^^
Love you Dave for this
