Back in 1974 I was assigned to a job in Australia. I heard Mustang fastbacks were really popular there so I ask a friend of mine how is a dealer to buy one at the auto auction to ship over there. He called me that night to say he got a low mileage 71 for $1800. Turned out it was an exact twin to the one shown in this video, Mach 1 p, 429 ci with ram air and C6 painted the same color. Cost $1200 to ship it over and had the hottest car in Camberra Australia for a couple years. It was tough to sell though because it commanded a really high price, so I traded it for a nearly new luxury car which was confiscated by the police as it was reported stolen in Queensland. I received title to the Mustang back, but it had been sitting in an in pound lot for over a year so I had a friend sell for me. Unfortunately it was sold for way below what it was worth due to paint and interior deterioration from being stored in the open near the docks under the blazing sun. Wonder whatever happened to it.
FALSE. This is a 429 CJ, with ram-air car. All 429 SCJ drag-pack cars came with engine oil coolers which this car does not have. 429 SCJ Drag-pack was also only 4 speed manual transmission and 4:30 gears Detroit Locker rear differential.
Mr. "FALSE" is completely wrong. 1971 Mustang Drag Pack cars came with a 3.91 traction lock or a 4.11 detroit locker differential. There was no oil cooler with the 429 SCJ in the 1971 Mustang (only the 1970 Torino).
I have this Mach 1 car in the same color code light metallic pewter but instead with the 383HP 351 cleveland 4v w/ C6 automatic transmission, A/C and folding down rear seats, standard black interior, but I bought the rimblow steering wheel to give it that hefty feel while driving it.. I love it so much it's indescribable beauty is out of this world in person even in it's unrestored condition :)
@timeaxis1, BULLSH*T. 1971 Boss 351 Mustang was 330 HP, and only a 4 speed transmission. No Ford 351c came from the factory with 383 HP. BTW, the rear seat was a single seat, not dual seats.
Went bye bye at 3:21. Automatic.I just fell out of love. Mine looked just like this one, except I had the 351. Not bad, but the 429 would have broken the bank for me.

The best Mustang ever created.

Nice car, wish it was a 4 speed.

Wrong revised oiling system in the 429 SCJ saw no need for the oil cooler, that applies for the 428 SCJ.

Nice video

Ford's Detroit locker came with 4.10:1 final drive, not 4.11:1...those were Chevy 12 bolts.

How did you get 383 hp out of it?
@@billhinkle1653I was just thinking the same thing, it definitely wasn't a factory HP rating.

Add a 73 Mach 1 351 4-speed Pennsylvania Winters took care of that car so sad
Automatic? No thanks.

C-6 is nice, But a Top Loader is Way Better with that Super Cobra Jet up front.

@@sergeantmasson3669 No Shit ! Do you think maybe someone might've removed the oil cooler at one time since 1971 ?????????
I hope I never see this guy do this again,, lame
