    I've just received the Classic version and I'd read loads about how sturdy and well made it is but it really doesn't do it justice till you hold one in your hands! Wow, this thing is amazing quality and after only two tries to dial it in for espresso, it was 99% there and the shot pulled very evenly with no channelling! I'm impressed and I'm not impressed easily!

    I've been evaluating so many hand grinders for my upcoming Robot and am leaning towards a Kinu...but Classic or Simplicity??
    Main doubts 2 (don't know if there are other things to consider):
    - The magnetic catch seems very convenient but some people complain about the magnets falling off...? plus it seems more gentle to detach and possibly helps avoiding making a mess?
    - does the additional weight of the classic help...or not? it's for home, so don't care about portability
    100$+ don't really make a big difference, as long as the choice is a long lasting investment!

      @AlternativeBrewing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Everything esle between the Simplicity and the Classic are similar.. you're just downgrading some aesthetic parts on the Classic for plastic in the Simplicity - as well as the Magnetic catch cup // which I could take it or leave it tbh. I've not heard of the magnets falling out - but do know it can sometime take me by surprise how how it grips on - and you have to consciously ensure you're not going to make a mess trying to remove it full of grounds.

    I have Phoenix and I *love* it. I prefer the rubber ring to the thumb stopper. It would be interesting to do a really discerning distribution comparison between the three to see if there's any meaningful difference from the metal supports that are left out of the Phoenix.

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Me too! They all seem incredibly solid in the build quality and I never felt in using the Phoenix that it was any further out of alignment compared to the others 👍

    I'm currently using a comandante. How do you think the simplicity compares ? I believe these two share a price point

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      great question - if you've already got the Comandante I don't think you'll gain a hell of a lot unless you brew espresso everyday with it - and dialling in espresso can require a stepless grinder over a stepped grinder... but otherwise the overall grinds quality and performance are so close it wouldn't be and upgrade

    Overall taste, pietro or kinu m47, which one is better?
    (If i'm right, for grind size range, kinu m47 has more advantage than pietro)

      It does - and the Kinu is a far better system for workflow. But I do love the flavour profile from the Pietro Grinder. Probably still got he Kinu though 😀

    Love my Simplicity. I think it's the model that makes the most amount of sense. Bombproof metal internals, ABS used intelligently in places where you don't need as much rigidity or precision, and a cost that competes with the Commandante very well.

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well put 👌 The metal funnel and grinds catcher just adds needless weight - and although I do wish the Simplicity had the Full Metal body like the classic - this also doesn't add any further advantage to the performance.

      With not having any experience with the above mentioned grinder - my only take away would be - it is not the brands best Espresso Grinder - although reasonable for the price. The Kinu is a premium Hand Grinder with large Steel Burrs and super precise grind size adjustments. I believe the flavour would be improved, looking at the RRP of grinding by hand and the larger buurs,, among other things such as retention/waste, longevity of the product and portability of the Kinu would make it a great option - IF hand grinding your coffee is not an issue.

    I'm about to buy a Kinu grinder but still choosing between Simplicity and Phoenix. Is Simplicity (vs Phoenix) worth the extra money as an investment considering that I travel a lot but also brew at home a lot too (disclaimer: my coffee depends on the weather: espresso and pour over during the cold months and cold brew during summer).

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah I would say the Simplicity is value for money. It's essentially getting the top of the Line M47 Classic with some plastic parts that you hardly take notice of, and don't play a role in the quality of the performance. The Phoenix is a great grinder too but it does feel and perform less, and if it's something you do every day, than the investment is usually paid off pretty quickly 👍

    How to move the click sound rotation on the classic one?

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      you're able to remove the ball bearing from the body of the grinder 👍 this stops the click sounds. I would use some pointy-nose plier to do this carefully

    Any been popping up problem with either of Grinders while grinding coffee beans

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no, no popping up. I had wondered this myself. The body/hopper holds more beans than the catcher does - and I now realise it's a good thing the body is so long. This probably helps prevent the popping - plus the stabilisation brackets stop this too. I do know you can buy rubber lids for them too 👍

    • @vermaanvesh

      @@AlternativeBrewing True the Rubber Lids are available at brokengooseneck.com 15/05/2020 onwards just spoke to the guy today itself. • @AlternativeBrewing
