Canned goods, bulk frozen items like potato hash browns, flour, which freezes surprisingly well, dried fruit and nuts you can turn into snacks.
Canned tuna and chicken meat.
Canned drinks if your family uses a lot of them.
Household cleaning products like detergent and dishwahing liquid.
You can freeze some items such as bread, tortillas, berries, bacon, and a bunch of other stuff. I love my Costco!.
I say try and partner with a neighbor or family member to help share costs.
I do this with my cousins! We both love the sams club bakery croissants. There are 12 in a pack which is too many for our small families so we split them 6 each!

Learn what freezes well and buy those things in bulk when they are on special. Separate into usable portions and freeze them. Pronto!
I understand the spices and salad but you can freeze bread and coffee
