This happens when pilots and atc tower aren't communicating correct info They won't know who didn't communicate until investigation is complete but I assure you they will find out why
Helicopters use airports all the time. They usually follow all FAA regulations but as the reporters noted ,this was a training mission and there was probably an inexperienced pilot operating the helicopter.

67 people have sadly died in this accident. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of them, their families and to the first responders tasked with recovering everyone and the wreckage. Hopefully the FAA and NTSB will learn exactly what happened to cause this terrible accident so it will never happen again.
Allowing any aircraft to cross the final approach at free will at no designated altitude while another plane is on short final is absolutely insane. This happens on so many American airports on a daily basis. I cannot count the number of Traffic Advisories I had during ILS-approaches in the US. It is dangerous, annoying, avoidable. Also "maintain visual separation" at night. WHY? WHY? It does not work at night.
There's a plane landing or taking off every four minutes at this airport. So it's not absolutely insane as you say. But it is a tragedy and hopefully we know soon, and they can do better.

It’s been reported that Blackhawk was running on a different ATC frequency than the commercial jet aircraft and if true it would only be common sense that when in vicinity of flight paths of landing you must be in contact with both if you’re the military? The air traffic control recordings that have been released. You can hear ATC talking to both the plant and the helicopter. Never trust what's being reported by reporters.

Helicopter was remotely taken over leaving the pilot’s with no control, and then intentionally flown into that set of glaring spotlights….but don’t believe what your eyes have shown you! It’s just the luck of the draw when you board a plane and hope there’s not someone on there that the “Powers That Be” are in the process of silencing! May god rest their souls.
Did the helicopter have lights on ? I was flying yesterday and spotted 2 black hawlks about 1000 ' below me 2 different times with no lights that I saw. They were harder to spot up against the dark tree back ground.

@@drewsimmons1629 Yes, I do. I have heard the full unedited ATC recordings and I have seen the plotted flight paths. I even happen to know that the approach being used by the Passenger aircraft was a very challenging one demanding an exceptionally high workload from the crew and that the military Helo requested to maintain VFR separation thinking they had the passenger aircraft in view. This was up to 5 seconds before impact ... and that was the point where things started going horribly wrong. You really need to do some more fact gathering before attacking people from a position of complete and utter ignorance.
So the AA flight was exactly where it was supposed to be. Meanwhile wtaf is the army doing flying aircraft 600ft off the ground directly across the landing approach of a major international airport?
I see Helicopters flying up and down the Potomac river all the time. They usually stick closer to Maryland since most planes fly closer the the Virginia side in their final approach. This was different. The plane was landing on DCAs angled runways which means the plane has to cut through Maryland crossing the helicopter paths. It looks like the plane hit the Helicopter from above.
Interesting observation. I am aware that this specific approach clearance is quite challenging for Commercial Aircraft as a form of "side slip" is required to move from the one runway's approach path to the correct runway. That maneuver, while approved, brought the two aircraft very close to one another. Bearing in mind that the Helo was abeam the passenger craft, apparently the landing lights of the jet would not have been visible to the Helo either making this a disaster waiting to happen.
It’s so slow, a whole night just found 18 ? Some people must still alive when the flight went down but could slip into death under such freezing water while sustaining injuries if not be taken out quickly.😭

Not everything is a conspiracy, nutter. Aviation accidents happen all the time. That Helo was on an approved flight path coming from the nearby base which is used all the time. Think and do some reading before you comment next time.
Who hired the person in the control tower. The control tower moves the traffic in and out of the airspace near the airport. They pushed for DEI and now we’re seeing the outcome of it.
I heard a clip from air traffic control right before the crash and they were asking the helicopter to turn around and go to Dulles or Baltimore. Seems like the helicopter was turning around and didn’t see the plane. Very tragic and I am saddened by the loss of lives.

Wouldn't matter because that system doesn't work below a certain altitude.

@@drewsimmons1629 Yes, I do. I have heard the full unedited ATC recordings and I have seen the plotted flight paths. I even happen to know that the approach being used by the Passenger aircraft was a very challenging one demanding an exceptionally high workload from the crew and that the military Helo requested to maintain VFR separation thinking they had the passenger aircraft in view. This was up to 5 seconds before impact ... and that was the point where things started going horribly wrong. You really need to do some more fact gathering before attacking people from a position of complete and utter ignorance.

So the AA flight was exactly where it was supposed to be. Meanwhile wtaf is the army doing flying aircraft 600ft off the ground directly across the landing approach of a major international airport?
I see Helicopters flying up and down the Potomac river all the time. They usually stick closer to Maryland since most planes fly closer the the Virginia side in their final approach. This was different. The plane was landing on DCAs angled runways which means the plane has to cut through Maryland crossing the helicopter paths. It looks like the plane hit the Helicopter from above.
Interesting observation. I am aware that this specific approach clearance is quite challenging for Commercial Aircraft as a form of "side slip" is required to move from the one runway's approach path to the correct runway. That maneuver, while approved, brought the two aircraft very close to one another. Bearing in mind that the Helo was abeam the passenger craft, apparently the landing lights of the jet would not have been visible to the Helo either making this a disaster waiting to happen.

It’s so slow, a whole night just found 18 ? Some people must still alive when the flight went down but could slip into death under such freezing water while sustaining injuries if not be taken out quickly.😭
so sorry for the lives that was lose, but i have a feeling someone on that plane knew something and someone wanted them out, a chopper flew into the plane..... that what i see....
This was not an accident you had the whole sky to begin with to do any type of training and what was a military black hawk doing flying that low? And you want to tell me that two pilots didn't see the plane in front of them or the radar didn't pick it up ? This was intentionally in my opinion I wonder who was that important in plan who was the target ? 👀 Rip to everyone 🩵🕊️🙏🏻
Not everything is a conspiracy, nutter. Aviation accidents happen all the time. That Helo was on an approved flight path coming from the nearby base which is used all the time. Think and do some reading before you comment next time.

Who hired the person in the control tower. The control tower moves the traffic in and out of the airspace near the airport. They pushed for DEI and now we’re seeing the outcome of it.
Why is it always a training exercise?
I heard a clip from air traffic control right before the crash and they were asking the helicopter to turn around and go to Dulles or Baltimore. Seems like the helicopter was turning around and didn’t see the plane. Very tragic and I am saddened by the loss of lives.
