Thank you for your side by side leaf explanation. I’ve made purchases in the past of plants labeled Mandevilla only to find out they did not vine because they were actually a Dipladenia Thanks to your video I will not be fooled again!
I am just about to pot 5 mandevillas, all pink. I found your video to be very helpful. I live in Sydney Australia and this plant grows very well here. I’m glad you didn’t edit out the ants 🤣 and plastic netting. As you said gardening is all about learning from mishaps and mistakes. Thank you!
The dipladenia is on the left and heart shaped and on the right is the mandevilla. The dipladenia will also bloom longer depending on how warm your climate is. The mandavilla is only a summer plant. Both are perennials.
Awesome video! I live in Phoenix, AZ. US. I will need to check how similiar our climates are but I would guess you receive much more rain. I for sure have a Rio Grande Red Dipladenia and what I thought was a Pink Dipladenia but it is climbing.
Can you please give some more details - Some one said when plant is dormant DONT fertilise. Is that true? I Bangalore city what would be the plants blooming season and what would be the dormant period. Also how to prune this and which months to prune? The flowers fall off on their own, so I guess no need to do dead hunting like in petunias. Also in addition to vermicompost , for flowering is mustard cake a good option?
Urban Scape Bangalore can you please upload a video also on pruning of mandevilla - how and when , plus how to dead hunt mandevilla flowers for more blooms . Love your videos. They are just the right amount of information.
I've planted red dipladenia and pink mandaville in one pot assuming both have similar water and sun requirements. Any suggestion please for better growth.
I got a white dipladenia last year , this year it died maybe due to the recent rains.....I m so sad . It was such a beautiful creeper ...from lalbagh. Can't find it online anywhere ..please suggest any place...and your voice is always so awesome. ...
Hello sir , Apart from one's choice of not liking plastic inside the pot , does it also obstruct the growth of the roots ? please suggest as I removed the plastic mesh for my duck vine plant and I see it not growing well. I tried to be gentle while removing the mesh but feel guilty of its dull appearance.
Haha I like the way u began your comment 😉....plastic mesh u mean the nursery ones...those are horrible and I hate them.....I can't stand them and yes if you remove it most of the tender plants do die
I literally stumbled on the last 3 really beautiful (red) "Rio Dipladenia," (@3.49 ea.) Any idea how "cold hardy"" these are? ~ No matter, I'm going to overwinter them anyway; easy:) Thx! Great info!!
Hello I have a Mandivilla which I brought into the house for the winter time. I live in Canada so the winters are cold. Whenever I water the plant the leaves turn yellow and fall off. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for the great video. I live in Bangalore and can you please tell me if I keep this plant in a west facing place, will the sunlight be sufficient?
Sir i have longing for the same plant for years, but i couldn't get one around here, if its possible can you please ship one red sapling to Madurai-Tamilnadu? 🙄
Even my plant had this plastic mesh and I think the root is hampered while repotting. :( It's been around 10 days, the plant is kept is semi-shade. However I see it is drying. Apart from taking "anti-mesh" oath, is there anything else I can do to make it survive?
It grows slowly don't worry. Give it sunlight, little shade of you live in hot zones of the country.use well draining soil and your plant will do well. Also give it support
@@jamesmcpherson9749 it is a tropical plant so if you live in colder climates you would need to protect it from Frost and then it could come back the next year

Yes the US has zones which is difficult for us to comprehend but ya the basics are the same..hot, cold and everything in between 😬
You have explained everything about the plant 📝 ! Crisp to the point. Will plan to grow it. 😊
Ur welcome
Excellent video friend! You speak so clearly, I learned a lot.

Winter in a way is a dromant period for a lot of plants...so avoid fertilizing extensively during winters
Is mustard cake a good fertiliser for flowering plants, including mandevila?
Yes

Ivy is mandevilla...shrub is dipladenia
@@Urbanscapegardening That was quick👍
Nice information, where can I get this plant?
Any local nursery
My Dipladenia plant is showing brown patchy leaves slowing turning yellow. Plant is otherwise flowering like crazy :) Is it having some defficiency ?
It could be something to do with roots...or due to excessive rain...

Hello I have a Mandivilla which I brought into the house for the winter time. I live in Canada so the winters are cold. Whenever I water the plant the leaves turn yellow and fall off. What am I doing wrong?
Reduce watering during winters...and the cold must be getting to it

My red mandivilla dried up now during the monsoon even though it was in the shade. Any particular reason. I am from Kerala
If it was in a container then it could be because of overwatering
No it was in a big terracota pot
That's why it died. If it was in the ground, it would have established better and more rain wouldn't have harmed it
