The more I think about Lord Momin and the recent issues of the Vader comic, the more I can’t wait to see what happens next with the ancient Sith Lord in this arc of the series!
I have been wondering. We see in the comic that he is called Momin and his master is Shaa. But... where is the "Darth" title? Are they Darth Momin and Darth Shaa, or is the new canon implying that the title of "Darth" did not exist in Momin's time?

It's fascinating to think that a Sith like Momin, who dedicated himself to studying the ways of the Dark side of the Force, instead of taking on an apprentice to pass down his current knowledge, chose to serve, not harness, and therefore appease the Dark side and prove his worth to it through his creations, that were meant to leave an eternal impression of pain and fear. For this, Momin was gifted by the Dark side with the ability to pierce through the veil of time, something unthinkable to the minds of other Sith Lords, both of the old and the new, as they all merely struggled to find the secret to immortality. Momin, in my opinion, seems to be one of the very few Sith, if not THE only Sith to serve the Dark side instead of trying to bend it to his will in order to wield more power. In this way, Momin honestly seems more fairly called a Dark Jedi. But by a different way than usual. The concept of serving the force is a Jedi concept. Momin took that and used it for the Dark side
Lord Momin is extremely interesting, he's like a Sith lord with Jedi ideologies, he uses the Dark Side but also seeks to appease the force or at least he views it as more than just a tool to use. I'm glad we're finally getting some different kinds of sith, the whole rule of 2 where they train up someone to kill them yet the majority of them don't actually want to die and try to supress the apprentice from surpassing them despite clearly trying to follow the rule of 2 was a bit overplayed.
Just to clarify, or atleast explain how I read it, Momin's ability PAUSED time, halting it's flow in the perfect moment of fear, agony, suffering, and pain that his pseudo-Death Star had started. Imagine when Alderaan was destroyed, it was instead put in a permanent pause state, just as the beam hit, but no one dies, yet still burned in the fired of a ruined planet, the Nexus of Darkside power that would create would be Momin's dream come true.
The fact that he isn't just another op destructive Sith makes him alot more interesting than alot of dark side users. It's nice to see the force being used in New creative ways.
The Prodigal Knight And Palpatine was the same, except he was careful with his plans. Problem is they were derailed by subjects of his, so just like Thrawn it was servants who screwed his plan over.

When it comes to ancient Sith within the current Canon, I feel like we are on the verge of greatness! There are some other interesting stories with specific ancient Sith themselves or events involving them currently out there in Canon, but I'd love to see us enter in a 2-3 year run of awesome Old Republic stories like these. I'm assuming post-Episode 9 will open the flood gates on most of this stuff, but Lord Momin shows there is so much potential/anticipation for this. :)

I think we need to see more especially if we consider other star wars mediums. Has Mormin ever done something so impressive to absorb 8,000 sith's force or control part of a whole planet (Ziost) with decently powerful characters with his mind? That ritual had to be prepared for weeks, and those thousands of Sith had to be there, they all had to participate. Valkorion didn't do that on his own, all 8'000 Sith made that ritual possible. Valkorion simply controlled the ritual. Also, Valkorion only lived so long because he absorbed the life energy of so many people, Momin however has eternal life because he can control time itsself and is favoured by the dark side. Most important difference however, as said: Valkorion relied on thousands of Sith for his ritual to work. Momin doesn't
I quite agree with this argument! Momin really pushed the boundaries of what the Force can do to the point where he could manipulate Time on such a grand scale, and in so doing he became one of the greatest Sith to have ever lived! :)

I think its a bit premature to call him the most powerful, especially if we consider Legends. Revan, Vitiate/Valkorion/Tenebrae, Sheev, Marka Ragnos, etc. are all ridiculously powerful. I think we need some more to consider Momin as the best among them.

I think, that the dark side itself may have granted him the knowledge, simply becouse all he wanted was to serve the dark side, his own power wasnt his goal. He wasnt abusing the force for his own ends, he offered up itself, and the dark side was delighted.
You could say Darth Momin was ahead of his time. He kind of became immortal threw his helmet and was able to bring back his body and without even really trying he was able to master time. To any who would say he is fodder I would say while yes Vader was weakened that can’t compare to the fact that Momin hasn’t had a chance to use his body is well over 1,000 years so he should be given leeway for being rusty. No Jedi or Sith has ever achieved what Momin has in either Legends or Canon and as such I have to agree that he is one of the most powerful
I wouldn't make hasty judgements about Momin just yet. We know absolutely nothing about what exactly piercing the veil of time entails or means, and his ability to stop the flow of time is also unexplained. It could well be that his superweapon - likely powered by Kyber crystals - served as an amplifier, like the focusing crystal on Naga Sadow's Corsair in Legends, which would make that a level of power Momin can't achieve naturally. Momin is powerful, that much is clear, but I highly doubt that he can compete with the likes of Plagueis and Sidious.
Well we know nothing definite about Plagueis in canon except that he could indeed stop death (Ultimate Star Wars book mentions that), so we can't say much on him. And yes we don't know if Momin speaks the truth yet to Vader. And I'm not sure I consider what he did on that planet to be freezing time yet. More like petrification of some kind.
Brian Beatty I also considered petrification, and that Momin only used more impactful words to describe that. It would be similar to what the superweapon on Malachor did to the Jedi and Sith fighting there, as shown in Rebels.
Assuming he could access it and it was used properly. But it may not be possible as the World Between Worlds or the Force seems to only allow those it trusts to access that realm (hence Sidious needing to use Sith Alchemy to access it and even then he needed someone to have opened a portal to it for him and even then, he couldn't even physically enter by his own power). Also the Ones would have been around in Momin's time so they were likely overseeing that realm to ensure no one misused it.

I bet Momin is like kenobi and had basic potential but his dedication to his craft whether it be art or the dark side (or both in this case) is what gave him such power in the force.
I suppose Momin is powerful to a certain degree and shows promise based on what he has accomplished, but I can’t make any assumptions yet. Like you said, we’re just in the early stages of Momin’s abilities.
Vitiate manipulated time casually as a force ghost. Granted, he did have to possess someone to be a force ghost like Momin and his mask. However, Vitiate did not require a machine to manipulate time.
Momins ability to cheat death through force manipulation is certainly more of an achievement in canon than in legends but impressive none the less! I say this because the way the comic presents his conciousness becoming one with the mask, it seems more of a side effect of the machine momin created back firing and sealing his mind in the mask forever the way the city was to be sealed in a single moment of fear and suffering forever. Momin so manipulations of the flow of time are what are truly his most impressive feats, and if he makes no exaggeration when he says he can pierce the vale of time in which he can contact or reach the dead it will be truly impressive as well! I think momin reflects the greatest strengths and weaknesses of aincent Sith when compared to banite Sith. In where he corrupted worlds, cheated death, and tampered with time he did so though his creations and not through a direct excretion of his force abilities. Having the ABLITY and knowledge to create such things is certainly astonishing but you have to realize without these items to boost his own power his reality warping feats were Likely impossible, even know it seems that vaders fortress must be competed before any time MUMBO jumbo can occur. He relief efforts of using such powerful artifacts and objects ended up causing momin to become an artifact himself like nihlus and Mur . The modern Sith lost many of the aincent siths secrets but with what they did find out they seemed to be able to achieve without the assistance of dark side objects that WOUKD consume Them so take what you will from that.
Well for all we know he's lying or manipulating Darth Vader. All we know for sure is that he managed to bind his consciousness to he's mask. The rest is unsure until the next issue

I have no clue when or where it was mentioned that Momin is able to manipulate time and I read the recent Vader issues. Momin was a sculptor not a time-traveller.
I don't know just yet man, if Sidious had a chat with him and realized the potential behind this, he's obviously gonna want it for himself I'd say. I don't see him handing it off to Vader so easily, but I guess we shall see...
From what I got from reading the comic is that his spirt has been transferred to the helmet, and he can control the body of someone wearing the helmet. But his physical body got destroyed when his time stopping weapon malfunctioned.
Love the videos and narration, but have you guys ever considered using a different soundtrack? Watching evey video yet hearing the same background music numbs you to the immersion and makes it really repeitive
Momin is a cool and interesting addition to the Sith but so far nothing about him comes off as powerful- he seems like an average Sith Lord from his backstory and his interaction with Vader. What we do know is that like Plagueis he was a very specialized Sith, which is why Sidious took note. He definitely had a unique power as Sidious said no Sith may ever be able to replicate what he did. That unique power though may be more his creations than actual true power. We have to wait to see more.

I would usually call this an elaborate con on the part of the ancient Sith. However, Rebels has shown us that time travel is possible with the force, both to the future (more plausible) and the past (totally gamebreaking). However, until we see mammin in the flesh (and in the present), I won't be convinced he truly cheated death and achieved the ultimate goal of the Sith.
Add time manipulation to a story without being VERY careful on how it works and you open the floodgates to question why the time traveler couldn't erase any obstacle to his plans before they even came to gain momentum.
What if Palpatine ended up mastering that power? He could have since he had unlimited access to Lord Momins helmet and it could open many possibilities to Palpatine either surviving in canon by using the power or him coming back.
well it could work because when palps died the same power that was used in the world between worlds was seen. Also why would palps hand select people to remake the empire if he had no successor? Finally Palps personal flagship the Eclipse SSD is still not confirmed destroyed and no one currently knows its location.

I’m not sure I agree. It really depends on what is the measuring stick for power. Momin’s abilities are not altogether impressive. He managed to stop time for what appears to be a short amount of time. Then he transferred his essence when he was killed. I don’t think that is on the level of Vitiate, however Vitiate was downgraded imo by them placing some of his powers as a result of a machine rather than his power in the Force. And it’s unclear whether Momin could achieve this goal without external tools such as his ship.
Legends comic Vader was a fucking beast on his own level. The strongest media Vader I will ever see will be Force Unleashed I and II Darth Vader. His fight with Starkiller will by far be the greatest and most taxing for him. Only if he had been near a dark side nexus could he had possibly solo'd Starkiller. But still Legends Vader will always be the best Vader 😁😎

Momin is powerful, that much is clear, but I highly doubt that he can compete with the likes of Plagueis and Sidious.
Well we know nothing definite about Plagueis in canon except that he could indeed stop death (Ultimate Star Wars book mentions that), so we can't say much on him. And yes we don't know if Momin speaks the truth yet to Vader. And I'm not sure I consider what he did on that planet to be freezing time yet. More like petrification of some kind.
Brian Beatty I also considered petrification, and that Momin only used more impactful words to describe that. It would be similar to what the superweapon on Malachor did to the Jedi and Sith fighting there, as shown in Rebels.
That's what I thought it was. It appears to be the same thing as the Malachor superweapon.
World Between Worlds?
Assuming he could access it and it was used properly. But it may not be possible as the World Between Worlds or the Force seems to only allow those it trusts to access that realm (hence Sidious needing to use Sith Alchemy to access it and even then he needed someone to have opened a portal to it for him and even then, he couldn't even physically enter by his own power). Also the Ones would have been around in Momin's time so they were likely overseeing that realm to ensure no one misused it.
He's definitely my new favorite sith lord in either legends, or canon.

I bet Momin is like kenobi and had basic potential but his dedication to his craft whether it be art or the dark side (or both in this case) is what gave him such power in the force.
I suppose Momin is powerful to a certain degree and shows promise based on what he has accomplished, but I can’t make any assumptions yet. Like you said, we’re just in the early stages of Momin’s abilities.

Vitiate manipulated time casually as a force ghost. Granted, he did have to possess someone to be a force ghost like Momin and his mask. However, Vitiate did not require a machine to manipulate time.

Disney/Lucasfilm may be Johnson-ing the movies, but man are they winning with the Darth Vader comics and with Lord Momin.
Honestly love that canon writers are attempting to explore different eras in star wars lore, momen is a great addition to star wars.

I think Lord Vitiate was the most classy sith Lord. And definitely the coolest.

Momins ability to cheat death through force manipulation is certainly more of an achievement in canon than in legends but impressive none the less! I say this because the way the comic presents his conciousness becoming one with the mask, it seems more of a side effect of the machine momin created back firing and sealing his mind in the mask forever the way the city was to be sealed in a single moment of fear and suffering forever. Momin so manipulations of the flow of time are what are truly his most impressive feats, and if he makes no exaggeration when he says he can pierce the vale of time in which he can contact or reach the dead it will be truly impressive as well!
I think momin reflects the greatest strengths and weaknesses of aincent Sith when compared to banite Sith. In where he corrupted worlds, cheated death, and tampered with time he did so though his creations and not through a direct excretion of his force abilities. Having the ABLITY and knowledge to create such things is certainly astonishing but you have to realize without these items to boost his own power his reality warping feats were Likely impossible, even know it seems that vaders fortress must be competed before any time MUMBO jumbo can occur. He relief efforts of using such powerful artifacts and objects ended up causing momin to become an artifact himself like nihlus and Mur . The modern Sith lost many of the aincent siths secrets but with what they did find out they seemed to be able to achieve without the assistance of dark side objects that WOUKD consume Them so take what you will from that.
Well for all we know he's lying or manipulating Darth Vader. All we know for sure is that he managed to bind his consciousness to he's mask. The rest is unsure until the next issue

From what I got from reading the comic is that his spirt has been transferred to the helmet, and he can control the body of someone wearing the helmet. But his physical body got destroyed when his time stopping weapon malfunctioned.

Love the videos and narration, but have you guys ever considered using a different soundtrack? Watching evey video yet hearing the same background music numbs you to the immersion and makes it really repeitive
Momin is a cool and interesting addition to the Sith but so far nothing about him comes off as powerful- he seems like an average Sith Lord from his backstory and his interaction with Vader. What we do know is that like Plagueis he was a very specialized Sith, which is why Sidious took note. He definitely had a unique power as Sidious said no Sith may ever be able to replicate what he did. That unique power though may be more his creations than actual true power. We have to wait to see more.
it has little to do with Momin actually abilities and more has to do with the ship he designed was created to have the ability stop time.

I would usually call this an elaborate con on the part of the ancient Sith.
However, Rebels has shown us that time travel is possible with the force, both to the future (more plausible) and the past (totally gamebreaking).
However, until we see mammin in the flesh (and in the present), I won't be convinced he truly cheated death and achieved the ultimate goal of the Sith.

Add time manipulation to a story without being VERY careful on how it works and you open the floodgates to question why the time traveler couldn't erase any obstacle to his plans before they even came to gain momentum.

well it could work because when palps died the same power that was used in the world between worlds was seen. Also why would palps hand select people to remake the empire if he had no successor? Finally Palps personal flagship the Eclipse SSD is still not confirmed destroyed and no one currently knows its location.

I’m not sure I agree. It really depends on what is the measuring stick for power. Momin’s abilities are not altogether impressive. He managed to stop time for what appears to be a short amount of time. Then he transferred his essence when he was killed. I don’t think that is on the level of Vitiate, however Vitiate was downgraded imo by them placing some of his powers as a result of a machine rather than his power in the Force.
And it’s unclear whether Momin could achieve this goal without external tools such as his ship.

Legends comic Vader was a fucking beast on his own level. The strongest media Vader I will ever see will be Force Unleashed I and II Darth Vader. His fight with Starkiller will by far be the greatest and most taxing for him. Only if he had been near a dark side nexus could he had possibly solo'd Starkiller. But still Legends Vader will always be the best Vader 😁😎
