- A week in the life of a young family on the Cornish coast in a Land Rover Defender. Paddle boarding, outdoor cooking, foraging, our new pull out drawer system for land rover defender, home built sauna and much more.

Hi. I’ve just come across your channel which I’m watching with interest.
I lived in Newquay in the 80’s and spent a year working on one of the day fishing boats, catching crab & lobster during the summer. In winter we worked the boat out of Padstow, long lining for Spur Dog, or what you called spiney dogfish.
I remember on one trip we were fishing up around Port Issac and had so many fish on board you could barely move and the boat couldn’t manage more than 3 knots.
I remember as a kid buying battered rock salmon at the chippy, and it was given the name due to its slightly pink colour, but of course because no one would have eaten it had it been called dog fish.
I still eat it when I can get hold of it and I ask angler friends to bring me back lesser spotted dogfish which are much the same as the Spur dogs in colour & texture.
I’m back in Cornwall in a couple of weeks, (my grandkids live there), and I’m taking them on their first camping trip for a couple of nights, staying at Cambrose touring park near Portreath. Keeping my fingers crossed for the weather.

1 question what’s the flavour of the rock salmon I don’t like the taste of salmon does it taste like it ? X
