What you think about what is more advisable to record with this ginbal, whether to leave FilmcPro stabilization in Standard or maybe turn it off (Off) . That is to say, since the Standard stabilization is "OIS", it is possible that it cuts part of the final image to leave it stabilized, would it be more convenient to turn it off to get the best image and would the ginbal stabilization be enough? Well it initially worked yesterday on my Galaxy S20+ and Smooth 5. I really just wanted zoom wheel and record button and it worked. Had issues getting any frame rates above 30 fps. Not sure what changed but Is no longer working today. Phone says its paired but nothing works on the smooth 5. I hope they get the bugs worked out soon.
I'm using the Smooth 5s with an Android Google Pixel 6 Pro, and the zoom/focus dial is driving me crazy. Sometimes the dial only operates focus and not the zoom. Then at other times it will only operate the zoom and not the focus. When it decides to control the zoom, I cannot get it to switch back to controlling the focus. How can I make sure that the dial ONLY changes the focus every single time???
Is it possible to lock rotation while using the gimbal on a monopod. In this setup, it is not possible to reach the trigger button ion the front of the gimbal.
That is a great question! Some people have had success with a right angle lightning adapter that fits your external microphone can work with some models of phone (counter-weights may be required). Others will use a wireless option like AirPods. And you can capture your audio to an external recorder and sync in post. I am on Horizontal view, when i move the zhuyin smooth 5 , too fast to the side, it turns over to vertical position, is there way to avoid this? Thank You
Hi there. If it is Filmic Pro's interface that rotates (and not the entire phone) then you can apply an orientation lock under Filmic Pro's Settings > Device menu 👍

I'm very pleased to have at last the full integration with Filmic Pro. However, on using this gimbal today, whereas the image was perfectly aligned with the horizon whilst using tha Cami app as well as with the native iPhone camera app, as soon as I opened Filmic, the image was not horizontally true. I hope I won't have to recalibrate the gimbal every time I use Filmic...
I tried the dji OM5 and returned it within 3 days. The rotation angle is limited, doesn’t have proper weight management and the gimbal jittered a lot. This on the other hand, has full 360 degree rotation and an amazing weight balancing. Another game changer is the mode button and the focus wheel which is not present in the dji. The only pros that the DJI OM5 have over the Zhiyun smooth 5 is the compact size and extendable rod which doesn’t convince me enough over the features that the Zhiyun offers. If you have a light weight phone and want a compact gimbal, go for the DJI, but my choice would be to go with Zhiyun Smooth 5 because it’s an all rounder! I hope this was useful.
Nice to see it here! A couple things to work out though. On the I13 pro-max lens choice is back or whichever front lens you selected from the App. Won't switch between wide, tele, or ultrawide. AND, the ISO won't go all the way down if you lock shutter at 1/60. Sometimes it will let you go as low as 35, other times it bottoms out at 45 , 53, or other number near the bottom.
If you long press the Fn button you get access to all four lenses. A single press of the function acts as a quick switch between selfie and your last used rear lens.
Great news thank you. One small bug (?) though. I attempted to delete a saved setting and was expecting a pop-up along the lines of are you sure. Instead the menu for loading another preset popped up. This occurred despite closing the app and restarting the phone (iPhone 13 Pro Max) and I finally resorted to deleting the app and reinstalling it once more which of course cleared all saved settings.
This features are not made available to third-party apps like FiLMiC Pro via the Zhiyun SDK. Currently those features are only available in the ZY Cami app. Don't hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

I agree with you - the overall integration is great but I would gladly trade the functions for the zoom function which I probably use more than most of the others combined. The only real slick alternative is to switch between lenses in the middle of a recording but this is not possible if you use an external lens like Moment

My phone is LG v50S ThinQ I checked with FiLMiC Pro Evaluator everything is compatible, but when I connect to ZHIYUN Smooth 5 following the instructions it immediately quits the software. I think it has some problem hope you can help me.

Have you requested for Zhiyun to allow access for the zoom button, and if so is the request still pending or has it been declined? Filmic pro is much better than the Zhiyun apps and the main reason I bought the gimbal will go to waste as I need the zoom control.

I’m glad I’m reading the comments to see, I’m not the only one with this question. Having access to the focus via the wheel is great, but having access to both… focus and zoom via the wheel would really be a game changer for mobile videography as it pertains to Filmic Pro (imo). Hopefully, and sooner than later, this will be a release update as I’m sure most want this feature to be available.
I have been using FILMiC Pro for a couple of years now. I purchased it when I had an iPhone xR and DJI OM2. I love the manual options. I recently upgraded to an iPhone 13 Pro Max and a Zhiyun Smooth 5. I purchased the Smooth 5 specifically because of the focus pull feature. I set it up and everything worked great until I connected it to an external mic. I lost all functional control of FILMiC Pro from the gimbal that I had before I connected the mic, including focus pull. I connected the mic to through the iPhone dongle and connected the dongle to a 90 degree adapter. one where you can use headphones and charge at the same time. it fit perfect on the end of the phone and had no balance issues, even with extra lenses. I tested it without the adapter, just the dongle and had the same results. I get mic input but no control from the gimbal. I can use an external recording device and add audio in post, which I will still do, but I like to have audio directly from the phone. just one less step. is there another way of getting audio to the phone or am I out of luck.

Hi I'm using Filmic pro 6.18 with my Huawei p30 pro and Smooth 5. I've just launched up the app, go settings > hardware > TOGGLE ON Zhiyun Smooth (Q3/4/5) and it searches briefly, then says 'connected', but will close the app around 1-2 seconds after this and I can't seem to get it to do anything else. Happens after rebooting everything and reinstalling the app unfortunately. Any ideas, is this happening to anyone else?

Totally not for Android users. Took a chance and ordered Smooth 5 and installed both camera apps to use with it. I have a Samsung s21 plus. Well needless to say....returned the smooth 5 and uninstalled the apps. This is mainly for iPhone users. So sad

We have some reports that certain device types crash when used with the Zhiyun SDK and we are investigating those. Sorry to say that this is not for heavy phones using additional lenses and nd filters…Such sad they don’t have any compatibility for m2 or m2s that is an actual gimbal for the job…This is just a gimmick

How could I switch it to the zoom to the left, it is on the right side and it is not easy to access.

Why no control over the zoom?

That isn't supported by the Zhiyun or DJI SDKs and reserved for their native apps only, unfortunately.

Nice Video. For Zhiyun smooth 5 and filmic pro can you switch lenses vice versa while the recording is on?
Currently FiLMiC Pro does not support lens switching while a recording is underway.

Sorry to say that this is not for heavy phones using additional lenses and nd filters…Such sad they don’t have any compatibility for m2 or m2s that is an actual gimbal for the job…This is just a gimmick
