I went to the Atlanta campus in 2010 and SATs weren't needed either! Also the scholarships were for Academic (grades) and Artistic (portfolio). Of course a lot has probably changed since I left but I'm sure this is helpful for those applying soon 🤓
Can you make a video about living off campus? I’m gonna be a freshmen living on campus this year but I want to live off campus next year, I have no clue about how to go about it. Very helpful video btw!
Im doing SCAD online the upcoming fall semester because I really can’t afford to live on campus freshman year and I’m so nervous about building friendships and relations with other people because I won’t be getting the on-campus experience, I know a couple of people through social media who are juniors and sophomores (they’re actually the reason why I chose SCAD) but it’s still difficult to build that connection and I don’t want to bother them because I know they’re all busy with their own lives and classes :/
Hey I'm a junior at SCAD. I was all online my first year. Not to be a downner, but you won't have the same type of social life until you really get there. I suggest trying to connect with as many people in your classes this year, and next year when you are all there you will have a better jumping off point. That's how I met my best friends
Heyyy! I’m a current freshman at SCAD. I currently live on campus. I was just curious if you planned on living on campus at some point? Im not too too good with being social in person, so I only made a few friends besides my roommates, but I’d be much more down to chat over social media if you’d like?
Welcome to Savannah Georgia love this city I’m retired nurse 👩⚕️ move here from my second time we’re military now I want to study fashion design but Iam an old lady but my mommy was in New York a fashion designer that’s my dream 💕🌷💕
OH MY GOD. Ok so I’m starting at SCAD fall 2024 and I also have celiac!!! I’ve been struggling so bad w housing and the disability office so if you have any tips please lmk!! Also this video is so helpful 💕
It is college, so people will choose to do what they want. You will eventually find people with interests similar to yours who may not smoke or drink. I have been thankful to find my friends like that as that is not something I choose to do.
Hi! So sorry I never saw this! You are only assigned your classes first quarter (fall) of freshman year, after that you can pick, however you do need to get your gen-Ed classes done freshman year, so you probably won’t take a major course until spring of freshman year or later. That also depends if you come in with credits, but they do explain this all to you in your first year experience class!
I only got money for academics with a little from my portfolio, simply because it needed to be stronger. I will say it was under 10k, but I won't share exactly how much. But I do know a lot of people get more than that, and each year you can renew your scholarship and get more. I did receive more money sophomore year and I hope it will improve a little more going into next year, but we will see!
Yes I believe you can, or you could buy the off campus meal plan which is a much smaller amount, but I personally think you would rather buy food from coffee shops and food downtown than the dining halls
I am going to SCAD to study an MA in sound design in the fall, but I don’t know what is cheaper, if to live on campus or off campus (I want to live in a single person room) what do you advice? Thanks 🫶🏼
I think it depends on if you have a large scholarship and if you will eat the dining hall food. I personally didn't eat the dining hall food, which was expensive even though I had to have a meal plan, and I also didn't have a crazy amount of scholarship that it would be dumb to move off campus. It is just a personal decision since there are a lot of factors!
@@Parisajovaini I will say it is bad in the summer but other than that it is not bad at all. If you are here in the summer be prepared, but otherwise you’ll be fine
Honestly, I don’t think it matters. I personally made my friends from classes then met people they are friends with and so on. The dorm can be nice to meet people, but I personally did not meet people in the dorm, but I do know others who did
do you recommend living off campus if you have celiac? because i’ve heard very mixed reviews but if my experience will be like your experience i need to live off campus lolz
I personally barely used the dining hall at all, if you are worried about cross contamination then I think it would be very difficult. Thankfully that didn’t bother me too much. I would just buy food and eat it in my room or just eat out downtown. I also tried reducing my meal plan with accommodations and they just wanted to put me in a new dorm with a kitchen so I could exempt my meal plan. Basically not ideal, but if you would want to try to get a room w a kitchen and exempt your meal plan, then you would probably be fine. It’s really up to you but I prefer off campus!
Hi! I’m not sure I completely understand your question, but if you are asking what quarters you have to take to be a full-time student, it is 3 but I think you can choose whichever ones you want, not sure if that is completely correct but it may be!
are you sure grades are most important for everyone or was that just how it was for you because you said your portfolio wasn’t that good? i think you need to excel in one or the other or both
There are 2 separate scholarship options, one is basically grades the other is portfolio wise so it depends on how you do! You may get a lot for portfolio, I just personally did not have the best portfolio so I got more for my grades. It is completely different for everyone but they typically always give something for both. Hopefully that helps
Sorry, I have been busy with finals but no it is not! It’s a great way to meet people and experience it but you’ll also meet lots of people through your classes
Omg no way!!! when you are tired, the walk all the way to honey isn't fun lol, but otherwise, I loved having the highway as our view rather than other dorm windows!!!!
SCAD Savannah is scattered throughout downtown Savannah, which is usually lots of tourists. You have to technically walk off campus to get to anywhere you want to go, but it is definitely safe. It's pretty safe at night, too on main roads, and better when you are with people
Planning to go to SCAD for 2023 thank you for making this!
Congrats!!!!
I literally just applied
Same! I’m going in fall for freshman year
Me too!!! I hope I get in. 😅 Maybe we'll see each other there.
Oh I’m in junior high, I plan on getting graduated with college and then heading over to SCAD 😂

Costs:
- How much does the academic portions cost?
- How much the the dormitory?
- How much for the food program?
The food program i believe is 2,000

submitting my application this week!
Is it true that alot of students get high? I read that online.
Is there alot of drinking?

hi! im planning on applying to scad, do you think you'd be comfortable sharing how much scholarship money you were offered?
I only got money for academics with a little from my portfolio, simply because it needed to be stronger. I will say it was under 10k, but I won't share exactly how much. @@mollyokeefe22 that helps a lot, thank you so much :)
And if I don’t stay on campus can I still eat at the dinning hall if I don’t have a meal plan and just pay for the food

hi molly ... i like your explanation.. but are scad is muslim friendly?.. cause i dont see muslim in scad video that i search
Hi, SCAD is friendly if all religions!
At scad is it easier to make friends staying on campus or living off campus

Hey I am going to scad and I was wondering does it matter what quarter do you take?
