It definitely does lean frumpy and there are lots of dresses out there in this length that tend to look the same. I am glad you agree that I saved it! 👍 Thanks!
@@YourGuideToStyle any long denim skirt can look iffy. I love your channel! Keep up the great work. I'm better at tying my button downs thanks to you. Wearing a bright orange over sized shirt tied at the waist right now ☺
This was so great, Jamie, but of course you look darling in all outfits. I would like to see a Mom in 70’s with you showing the same looks for comparison! ❤
You did a great job styling it, really. I think the problem is that dress is simply not flattering at all - wrong length, and best looking when top part covered. Not sure what else is "off" - maybe not your size? This video still shows how even such a challenging item can be made wearable using creativity and experience (to finish on a positive note as I love your videos)
Thank you. I was trying to show exactly that. Sometimes it's really hard to find the "right" length, fit and style so sometimes we have to make it work.
This was very interesting and helpful! You're teaching me that I need to take the time to try different things with my garments. That's my biggest flaw is not putting the time into planning so I end up reaching for the same things over and over that I already know work. I feel that I've been wasteful in buying things and not wearing them because I haven't taken the time to style them well. Thank you for the demonstration and reminder
I am so glad. This one was a touch one and I thought about not even posting it but I was hoping it would inspire people to make what is available to them cute!
I have had a simple, almost shift-like long midi denim dress with darts in the bodice and narrow spaghetti straps for a good 20 years. Such a classic! I love layering it with a white or blue striped button up top over it, or a tight white T under it, sandals, clogs, white sneakers, classic gold jewelry or something more bohemian ( like amber beads), a straw bag, a straw hat, a bucket hat, a striped sweater over my shoulders... I think for your dress, a silk scarf in denim blue and camel or white would be cute-- on your ponytail, tied on a hat brim, tied on a straw bag, or worn 1960s retro kerchief style with big sunglasses, for a drive or a walk near the coast when it's breezy!
I like the trendy one at the end the best. Another idea would be to put a long sleeve top underneath. Not sure it wouldn’t look frumpy, but worth a try!
Love the dress and all the ways you styled it ! I thought the hat was really cute. I really liked the white blazer with the belt. Nice video and very helpful! Thank you!!
It was such a timely video for me. I was just thinking of dipping into my dress wardrobe which I had been neglecting so far. Thanks for many wonderful ideas I am definitely going to incorporate. What about tan cowboy or just normal high boots?
This was helpful. I sew & knit. My next dress will be a navy accessory dress that can mix with various cardigans and jackets. Seeing the different jackets proportions over the dress was helpful. The trend I hoped you were teasing was denim with denim. I don't wear cowboy boots. Unless you're actually riding where I live (and I don't), cowboy boots read as "all hat, no cattle." BUT I do spend enough time in the southwest to think your outfit with boots would be super cute for a date or girlfriends lunch in downtown SantaFe.
I am so glad it was helpful! I don't wear them much either but they are becoming such a big trend in some places that I just had to put that outfit together!
Wow! Talk about getting your money's worth out of this dress. I looooooove the looks and so approve of the attention to detail, especially with jewelry.
It's a beautiful dress and I loved all of the looks except the cow boy boots😅 ! I have a body similar to yours and all your videos are very useful . Thank you !
I have a denim dress about that length, but I don't have ankle western boots, only the ones that come halfway up the calf. Do you think they would work? (No leg would be showing.)
You make a very cute cowgirl! I would wear that dress without a jacket but with nice accessories or with the boucle jacket. All options look nice on you.
I think that particular dress would be hard to wear for bustier women. In addition, adding a jacket of any type over denim ruffles on an already full bustline is simply out of the question. IMHO
It might be since it buttoned up. It just depends on how the person is shaped everywhere else. The ruffles get completely covered by jackets and are really minimal and the fabric is light so I don't think they are a problem.
Hi Jamie, I was not a fan of the dress at all, but when you added the white blazer with the belt I really liked it, also adding the other white jacket was really nice. I was not a fan of the cowboy boots with the dress.
Hi Jamie, i really like this dress however; in my opinion this dress is too long on you and the length overwhelms your petite size. I would have this dress hemmed 3 to 6 inches. Usually to an inch or two below the knee. This would help with styling. You have been styling the dress to pull all the attention up suck as belts, jewelry and your hair up. I like the boots, but i live in TX. I also have the same two band tan sandal, but with a 1 inch heel. I love these shoes.
You made it so much better but that dress is just a bit too long on your 5'4" frame. If it were hemmed a few inches to show more leg, it'd look better with every type of shoe.
OK...my opinion...hair up on top of head @ ALL times w/ this dress; more of the foot needs to show (no for strappy sandals , loafers, & cb boots). The sneakers looked the best; short jackets & belted blazer were the best. Good try on a difficult dress.
I love it with the jackets, especially the cropped one. Sweet and fun!
I thought so to, thanks!
The brown platform shoes and hat were adorable!!! That dress does lean frumpy, I was happy to see you save it!

Really enjoyed this video. I often 'shop' in my closet to create different looks with one item. I'd love to see more like this.
Awesome! Thank you!
I love denim and chambray dresses! I have a few and I just can't resist them when I see them in stores. Love the one you have on!
Thank you so much!!
I loved everything! Including the dress by itself! I love this dress!!!
Thank you!
Thank you so much for a well thought of video.
It made me smile and got excited to put together what I have in my closet.😊😊😊
That's great! Thank you!
So many cute options! Love the cowgirl boots too.
Thanks Susan!

Like the dress with white jacket and tie sandals!

I would love this with red or pink as well. 💞
Pops of color would be so good with it!
Great ideas for most any dress! Thanks for all your hard work!

My dresses in that fabric are shorter and shirtwaist style with long sleeves. I would love to see how you would style a dress like that.
Okay. Thanks for the tip!
I found a maxi denim overall dress 👗 at the Goodwill. It’s so unusual. Thanks for the ideas. It’s just the right time for me.
That's great! I am glad this gave you some ideas!

Thank you very much!
I have a pair of short white cowboy boots. Good idea with the denim.
Thanks!
Perfect timing! I just bought a simple sleeveless chambray dress. Love the looks!
Great! Thank you!
Loved this content! Thank you and I'd love to see more styling with a key basic/classic wardrobe piece. Maybe a whole series??
I love this video it makes me want to buy a denim dress and a white denim jacket :))) Waiting for your next video :)))

Cute, cute, cute ideas!! I need some new belts! AND a denim dress 😁
Thanks! I am loving belts right now!
Yes, please do a work attire! 😍
Great. Thanks!
Thanks! I especially loved the “dress for work” look. I am always looking for stylish but comfortable. Please do more!❤
Thank you and I will consider it for sure!
Great ideas as always😊
Thank you!
Loved your outfits But I’m not sure about the cowgirl boots. Here spring is pretty warm would you really wear cowgirl boots, feet might sweat??!!!
Yes! I'm not sure about it either for myself but I love it on other people.
I have a denim dress about that length, but I don't have ankle western boots, only the ones that come halfway up the calf. Do you think they would work? (No leg would be showing.)
I do, as long as the dress covers them and they are a lighter color. 👍
@Your Guide To Style thanks!
So helpful! Thank you!
You are welcome!
also THIS LADY WOULD SUIT GOLD JEWLERY
Silver metallics are trending!
Yes they are!
You make a very cute cowgirl! I would wear that dress without a jacket but with nice accessories or with the boucle jacket. All options look nice on you.
Lol, thank you! I did grow up in the south that maybe that's why!😂
Great video. Fully watched and enjoyed 👍🌺🌿🏵🌵🌹🍀🍁
Thank you so much 🙂
I think a clog or a rustic looking platform would work
Yes it would!
How about throwing on a summer weight crew neck sweater? The dress would look like a skirt
I think that would look great and thought of that but I didn't have one that worked unfortunately.
Dress is a little long. Not a dress person but I like more of a shirtwaist dress, no ruffle and no sleeveless. Wedge heel would look great.
Thanks for sharing!
Hi Jamie, I was not a fan of the dress at all, but when you added the white blazer with the belt I really liked it, also adding the other white jacket was really nice. I was not a fan of the cowboy boots with the dress.

T he ruffles drown out the necklace. I would like the dress better without the ruffles.

OK...my opinion...hair up on top of head @ ALL times w/ this dress; more of the foot needs to show (no for strappy sandals
, loafers, & cb boots). The sneakers looked the best; short jackets & belted blazer were the best. Good try on a difficult dress.
I thought it was a good try. This style dress is harder than I thought it would be but has potential.
@BR: Agree with you!
Not liking that particular dress. All your changes could be used on other shirt dresses. Now, the hunt for the dress begins.
Yes they could. This was to give ideas for just that so I hope it was helpful.
Not to be rude but… nah, this is not stylish.
That's alright. You can have your own opinion. 👍
@@YourGuideToStyle Some of the ideas are more stylish than others. Just inspiring. Outfit ideas. 👍
