I'm in this very situation! I was heavily in the market for a compact tractor some time ago, and over time slowly shifted to a preference for a wheel loader, not having much need for a 3PL. There's a bunch of hydraulic functioning FEL attachments in lieu of that - slashers, grapples, augers, bale grabs, trenchers - for wheel loaders.
However, as good as this video was, it just gave me more questions, and didnt answer the ones I had! I'm none the wiser!

Just got a R640 had a wheel skid steer ans hated it... my company outgrew it too fast, operator compartment was tiny and none of my guys wanted to run it, during summer I couldn't take it on high profile client properties cuz of damage factor from turning on lawn, now that I have the wheel loader it's been a game changer, can lift everything with ease, every attachment I had is still usable with wheel loader, can drive on a lawn with out fear of damage to lawn when turning, in all I wish I had bought it in first place rather than wasting my effort with the skid steer, yes as you said it costs more but so far the pros outweigh the price factor by a long shot. Only down fall is that kubota only has 13 mph wile others have faster machines, but being that I've had several other kubota machines and I trust the rugged durability I went with R640 anyhow even if I have sacrifice the 6 mph less that other competitors machines as I have a theory as to why - road travel the machines can get violent on un-even roadway at 13 mph. Going faster just means more violent rhe machine gets however, I still wish kubota would add a second high transport only mode to make distance traveling possible of needed

Great video! One question tough, doesn´t the skid steerer destroy the ground more than a wheel loader? Especially when turning.

When using pallet forks the loader allows the operator to exit the cab far easier when lifting, adjusting, tying down loads etc. And far safer.

@@idaho_7407sounds like you’ve braved the jump from the cab to the ground while lifting something. Sketchy right?

Ok, you convinced me so I bought a brand new R640 from my local dealer. Generally, I am happy with the machine with two exceptions. 1. No throttle lock. OMG how on earth did they forget to include this important feature (or am I missing it somehow? I hope so. Is it an option?). 2. The articulating king pin joint top bearing won't retain grease, but rather it extrudes the grease aggressively after only a couple of hours of operation. I can tell when all the grease has been "pinched" out of the king pin joint because the machine starts "squeaking" and "squealing" at the joint to the point that you can not stand it. It's a brand new machine with only 34 hrs and it has done this from the very beginning. If this can't be resolved and is considered a "normal" characteristic I will have to sell this loader (because I don't have the time and/or money to spend greasing a fitting every two hours) and move to a different manufacturer (and one that definitely includes throttle lock capabilities - my bad for not verifying the R640 had it but I didn't even think to ask as this should have been a given with this type machine especially since it's so easy to include with the electronic throttle system). Performance-wise the machine does fine. My unit serves as a piece of farming equipment so we don't need much more in the way of driving speed but we do operate on bumpy dirt roads and have longer transport runs loaded which is why the throttle lock is important to us.
