This was a lot better than I expected. In fact It's one of my favorite DCEU movies along with Aquaman. I've said it before that I've never been a fan of Ezra Miller and I'm still not. But I'll give him credit, he gave a great performance. It was great to see Michael Keaton as Batman again. He's still one of my favorite live action Batman along with Ben Affleck and Robert Pattinson. The visual effects weren't as bad as I had been hearing, but they could have been better. The end when he interacts with his mom in the grocery store was very emotional. Overall it was very entertaining and I would definitely see this again in theaters.

Can I call this movie one of the greatest comic book movies ever made? No. But can I call this a very enjoyable comic book film? Yes. I’ve seen it twice in the last twenty six hours, and both times I really enjoyed it. It’s very well paced, the action sequences had a lot of variety and were very well handled, I thought Sasha Calle did very well as Supergirl, the emotional moments were very touching, I love time travel stories, a lot of the humor landed quite well for myself and people at both of my showings, and yes, Ezra Miller gave a great performance as Barry Allen/The Flash. Now, there were certainly plenty of issues with the CGI, secondary Barry grated on me after a while, and because I don’t have nostalgia for Michael Keaton’s Batman films, this movie wasn’t necessarily as special for me as it probably is for a lot of people who grew up on Batman 1989 & Batman Returns. But right now, I think it’s one of the stronger DCEU films that definitely delivered on the majority of what I was looking forward to.

Honestly it’s the opposite of No Way Home for me. A strong first half setting up the personal stakes and reason to travel into the multiverse, with a rushed last half with forced cameos and no stakes by the end of the film. Like really the only negative is that Batman changes again to a different actor and Barry’s dad actually benefits from what happened. Where is the lesson. This compares to NWH with a rushed first half and weak set up to the multiverse. But a very personal last half where Holland goes through an arc and learns his lesson, complimented by cameos. Remember when the sky opened up and ‘they are all coming through’ - well they didn’t show us these cameos instead the flash does the same thing but forces in dead actors like what?! By the end Peter learns from his mistakes/sacrifice and pays for them by no one remembering him and May’s death.
I came out of No Way Home thinking that Peter’s story was the best part complimented by the past characters appearing, I come out of the Flash going Keaton was the best part. A better set up but a way worse pay off.

I have to say, I think this film was great. This might be even more polarizing than Multiverse of Madness, while some are loving the movie, some are saying it’s a mess. For me, the only thing I was a bit annoyed about was the third act. Even that wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected as it was incredibly flawed but also highly entertaining and thought provoking. The humor wasn’t great but definitely hit better than recent MCU films. The story felt very emotional, not only for Barry but also for Bruce Wayne and I thought the whole thing was compelling and thrilling. This felt like a giant service to me as a huge fan of DC. It’s not the best comic book movie or even necessarily a top 5 DC movie. However, for a film that was in development hell for this long and had a PR nightmare as the star, it was incredible. Also, as someone who is very mixed on the Snyderverse, I was surprised on how compelling a movie about saving a universe I didn’t live actually was. The CGI was good except for the time travel scenes (which looked like PS4 cutscenes and were horrible to look at).
    SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT ON:
I think the ending symbolizes (i read an article on this) that this version of the DCEU is truly dead and being fully rebooted. This has been confirmed obviously but it leaves in question whether Miller, Momoa, and Gadot will return. They probably won’t, especially considering the numbers at the box office for how the movie is likely going to do. Nevertheless, it was okay to me. The only reason I didn’t hate it is because I know it’s not permanent. It’s never been in question that Clooney seriously returning to be Batman in the DCU would be ridiculous and this was kinda funny to me. I really think that Wally West should be our Flash from now on, Momoa should obviously play Lobo, and I think the Sif actor would be a good Wonder Woman. Speaking of actors, this was the first movie where I could really see Ezra Miller as The Flash. They’ve always been a miscast for me, but I really thought they were great in this film. Also, yes, Michael Keaton was a scene stealer. Supergirl was underutilized but still felt like she worked in the story. However, the villains weren’t amazing to me. Zod is just kinda abandoned at one point and you don’t really see him again. This is awkward pacing, because just a minute after the two characters die, they realize that it has to happen and they can’t change it. Zod vanishes from that point on. Dark Flash was incredibly rushed and they should’ve done more building up with him. He barely had any screen time and it felt lazy to not show the other Barry’s full descent into madness (it didn’t make sense that he died at his own hands, he should have turned fully into Dark Flash and forced Barry to kill him)
To conclude, I loved this movie. It’s potentially the Last Jedi or Multiverse of Madness of DC, but this time, I’m on the side of this movie. It was so much more beautiful and compelling than those films and ranks highly among the DCEU films for me. 8.5/10

I’m pretty sure the hate comes from the movies past. It had a messy production. Ezra is a controversial figure. The DCEU as a whole is controversial. That’s 3 levels of controversies by the movies release. That’s not necessarily the PR that gets people sitting in the theatre eagerly anticipating the movie. It’s the PR that makes people assume the film will be bad and will put it in their own heads that whatever choices the movie makes is a bad decision. “The cameos are bad. The story has no emotional weight”. Any objective criticisms like the CGI only further enhance their own points.
I was excited for The Flash and I adore it. A solid 8.5/10. But the history around the movie, no matter if the movie had a perfect story and perfect cgi, etc, people will still find ways to have a problem with it, because they went in expecting the movie to be bad to the point that they want the movie to be bad.

Like you, I found it refreshing that the point of this movie's message with time travel is...some things are just meant to be. You can't change it. So many time travel movies unravel with it being all about preventing something or changing something. X-Men: Days of Future Past even has Beast give a monologue about how maybe time works like a river, and no matter what you do, time just keeps flowing the same way like the current, but the entire point of that film is that they prove that theory wrong. This movie completely leans into that theory, and it was different. I dug it

    So I’m 30, my sister is 38.
She doesn’t go to the movies or care for the superhero flicks like I do. She hasn’t been to the movies since no way home.
So when she first saw old man Bruce she kept wondering who it was and when she realized it was Keaton, the reaction was incredible. Took her back to her childhood essentially. She looked at me and said “is that really our Batman?” So yeah… element of surprise would’ve been great.

Overall, I very much enjoyed the film. Yes, I have some minor issues with it (though the CGI was not a a problem for me.)
What I didn't like: 1) Young Barry's goofiness got annoying for me, and 2) I found saving falling babies a bit tonally awkward. BUT, those two things aside, I loved almost everything else:
Michael Keaton was incredible. Great nostalgic moments for this long-time 89' Batman fan. Plus, this movie delivered my now-favorite action sequence of Keaton as Batman. I only wish he had more screen time.
Supergirl's character had intrigue, depth, and beauty. They made her a powerhouse and I loved it. So good in fact, that, like Keaton, I would've enjoyed more screen time from Kara.
The emotional undercurrent and closing scene with Barry's mother were expertly written.
Ah, but cherry on top? Seeing Christopher Reeve's Superman on the big screen in 2023 brought a tear to my eye. I'd see it three more times just for that. Fantastic film. I'm sad the DCEU is ending.

The guy in the Batman shirt couldn’t have said it better, it is dcs no way home but cleaned up on the plot in the ways nwh was lacking. I will say that maybe this flash movie could’ve been a sequel to a one where they focused on the reverse flash in the first, because this felt like the grand finale to a trilogy

The movie was excellent the only issue which I had was that the movie was overshadowed by the comic adaptation they missed many crucial oppurnity i think Keaton should have played Thomas Wayne and they should have included that letter scene , for me the movie was still a 9.5/10 but It was like that it still missed some crucial story points
Maybe I have this feeling because spiderverse also touched this topic of cannon events just 2 weeks ago and we saw literally the same thing again
But I still loved the movie it was a cinematic experience ,was filled with emotions the acting was amazing I think it is the best DC movie just like they all said

To me, the bad CGI wasn't noticeable enough to dampen my enjoyment of the film. I did feel like the film started to get a tad slow in the 3rd act, but the pay off at the end was worth it. I really loved seeing Michael Keaton again as Batman, and the different portrayals of the various DC characters when Flash sees the different timelines was a nice touch. Overall, it was a great experience for me and my group.

I’m just gonna put my random thoughts down here
Honestly, I did like the twist that young Barry became future Barry. It makes sense.
It’s really a film that’s all over the place, but it has enough to keep it together and entertaining.
Ezra Miller is a good flash and he did do a good job acting as two (technically 3) Barry’s. I’m still supremely upset with how the studio is handling all the scandals but for what it is, it’s a great performance.
Batfleck’s suit looked weird for some reason, but I’m glad we got to see him and Wonder Woman one last time. The 30 seconds she was there she always steals the movie. God I’m gonna miss that theme.
This is probably the best and worst movie to handle the concept of multiverses. Best in that I like the idea of giant spheres, it helps visualize it. Worst in the fact that dear lord those cameos shouldn’t have been there minus Nick Cage. I get the point to them but the actors have passed away and we should really respect that. I kinda hoped they would’ve handled it like Doctor Who does with their own cameos and just play old clips of the actual movie and fit it in that way.
Cgi is awful dear lord it’s a ps3 cutscene and idk if that’s an artistic choice or not but seeing flash in the time stream was hella wonky.
They kinda wasted the weight of the world ending with General Zod, they definitely could’ve done more with that but they kinda rushed it at the end despite the twist villain working. He just wasn’t there for enough time.
Yes I cried with Barry’s Mom and also when Barry’s dad was proven innocent. The amount of weight put into that scene should’ve been a lot more but I’m okay with what we got.
There’s also too many moments deemed too serious when it should’ve been funny and too funny when it should’ve been serious.
The Flashpoint is always an incredible story to tell. From the beginning I knew at least the basic concept of Barry saving his mom would be enough for this movie to settle, but I’m glad we explored young Barry too.
It just needed to iron out some wrinkles and tie it in better.
Other than that I do appreciate the movie. I’m glad the DCEU is over and ended on a high note and that this new DC universe will bring some new breath into the superhero genre.

I've not been a DC watcher. Id seen some, but I've always been full MCU.
But then....i saw the trailer for this. With Keaton back, the Multiverse, and what seemed like a very grown up story with a ton of heart; i was extremely excited for a movie about a character i knew nothing about and the return of a batman that i had no attachment to. To prepare, i filled in the gaps of my watched DC films! Over the past couple weeks; i watched Batman, Batman Returns, Batman v Superman, Wonder Woman, Snyder's Justice League(2 times), Josstice League, Birds of Prey, WW84, Shazam 2, Peacemaker S1, and Batman Begins(just in case!😉) Enjoyed everything!
And now that ive seen the movie that inspired me to attempt this madness; ill say it was all worth it! Not only did i watch a lot of great movies, but i was more prepared, and got to fully enjoy this AMAZING Flash film!! Great action, flash abilities are so frickin fun, goofy barry was hilarious but still treated with respect, amazing emotional weight throughout, Keaton has a great return arc. Keaton was handled perfectly!! They give him a full story that honors the character. He gets a LOT, but he never steals the movie from Barry! Love these super hero movies with consequences and serious lessons to be learned. Especially for otherwise lovable, innocent, and lighthearted characters like Barry and Tom Holland's Peter Parker. Not every mistake can be undone, you can't always get what you want. You have to grow up and face these truths. As sad as that can be, it is also refreshing to see in these movies. CGI is noticable at first, but im not bothered by it. His "floating" run has always been a little weird. I thought i remember it being this way in Justice League as well at times. Or am i wrong? Either way, im 100% Satisfied with this one. (I also went and saw Across the Spiderverse immediately after this. Another great, heavy, emotional movie! (It was an amazing day at the theater 😁)

Just got home the theater, perfect timing. I really enjoyed this film. Definitely not the best, but really entertaining, fun, and funny. Loved the characters and the themes. I wish delved more into the real main villain and wish we saw more of Kara - I really hope she shows up in James Gunn's DCU. She might have been my favorite part of the movie. Also loved Keaton, and that they didn't turn him into a shell of himself like some other legacy sequels. He completed his mission, so he retired. I do think the cameo palazzo CGI recreation of Christopher Reeves was in poor taste. they didn't even play the theme :(

@@charlesevanshughes3638 I think they should've done an Arrowverse world instead, with Grant Gustin and Tyler Hoechlin as Flash and Superman. In a movie that shows off alternate universes with these familiar faces, it felt odd to me that person who's been playing the Flash for about a decade and has been the mainstream embodiment of the character didn't get any acknowledgement. Say what you will about his show (it sucked the last few years for sure), but Grant was always fantastic as Barry, and I would've loved to see him recognized instead of recreating a dead man, iconic though he may be.

I feel like the end credits happened after Barry changed something again to make it more like his old universe and we're seeing that atleast him and aquaman are like they used to be. Or that Clooney as Bruce is in the same universe as Momoa/Aquaman and they're a part of this new timeline. Maybe Clooney will be the Batman in the present and will see someone else play the younger Batman in movies that take place in the past, like the upcoming one. They probably should have ended the movie when Bruce shows up but we don't see his face so they can cast him later, just an idea. Idk

The thing was that the choice he made at the end wasn’t a focal timeline thing.
He knows he can’t save his mom. But Nobody said that his father can’t be saved.
Especially considering that what he changed, only affected the day he traveled back in time.
His father still spent 20 years in jail. His Mother is still Dead. He changed something that only would come into play the day he traveled back.

Not amazing but I’d say it’s one of the better DCEU films. One thing I will say though is that my friend who was hyped and had pretty high anticipation for this was disappointed, so again, I think this is a movie that you kind of just have to watch not expecting anything and then look back and say, “hey, that was actually pretty good.”

At my screening many viewers were lost, only a few laughed when Clooney showed up. I don't think they knew he'd played Batman. That was a dumb move from James Gunn. They should have kept the original ending with Keaton at the courthouse. Now all I really want is a Keaton prequel, I need to know what happened to his Bruce between '92 and the Flash events. Michael kicked ass, no other actor should be cast moving forward as long as Keaton is alive and kicking.

The CGI faces at the end, the time travel explanation and the rushed ending brought it down slightly for me, but overall, I thought it was amazing, and j wish we could have more time in this universe.
