  • In this video, I show you how I started my valve stem seal replacement on the 1961 Cadillac. I was using my small hand valve spring compressor tool which sucked. I only accomplished removing two springs on one cylinder. I also show the newly installed valve stem seal. I also show how to use the leak down tester.

There is a photo of it in the video but it is the only hole that is counter sunk. You can also try to install all 4 bolts at the same time to see how far they go in. That should help you to identify the correct hole.

    Nick,
I can't remember if you changed the fuel pump or not. Clear my mental fog please.😒

    John

Hey John, no I didn't, it worked fine. I did flush it out though and its still working fine. Those suckers are expensive and the originals are rebuildable but you have to sell your first born to get one. The one on the car now is a replacement that is not rebuildable so the original pump is missing.

      Nick,
If it's a manual pump it could be leaking a bit of oil through the diaphram which is where the smoke is coming from. Happened to me on a 1962 Olds, generating a ton of morning-start smoke.
      Regards,
      John
