Oh, it gets even harder when they have five tenors, five beatboxers, three baritones, three bassists, one alien vocal percussionist, one high tenor showman, one tenor opera singer, one subterranean bassists, and a silky smooth baritone who can hang in the basement or up in the tenor range and stay silky smooth, all with just five guys.
Austin did a fabulous job of this classic song. Loved Percy Sledge's version, but this was taken to another level. I think it is also better than Michael Bolton's version. And remember this was done during quarantine, so the guys weren't even together. The backing harmonies are great, along with Tim's bass. And Adam's vocal percussion is outstanding. This is why these guys are my favorite a cappella group.
they are quickly becoming our fav as well! After just 2 covers we are FLOORED lol Thanks for watching and keep your eye out for more HF - We are planning on doing some of their original music as well. Much Love!
Austin Brown the singer was singing to BFFGF Amberly that was in studio with him this was done during the pandemic lockdown that's why the T.V. screens.
Austin's voice was made for this song. He absolutely crushed this. Rob and Chance's harmonies woven throughout the background are magical. Tim' bass line is phenomenal! And Adam's beat boxing/vocal percussion is beyond next level. Five of the most talented, skilled, versatile musicians in the musical arena today. Home Free is like a gift box. The deeper you dig into that box, the more wonderful surprises you find. In my opinion, they are the G.O.A.T. Don't feel bad about forgetting there are no instruments. They are so dang good at what they do, you'll more than likely forget from time to time that there are no instruments. Some of my personal favorites of Home Frees' catalog of work is "Blue Ain't Your Color", "Brother", "Listen To The Music", "The Driver", "Forever And Ever Amen", "Diamond Dreams", "Moonshine", on You Tube and "Ain't Goin' Down Til The Sun Comes Up" on Facebook. Thanks for a wonderful reaction. Enjoy your trip down the Home Free rabbit hole!
found Home Free about a year ago. they are freeking amazing. too many songs to mention, just pick one and you won't be disappointed. they all got the pipes
Thanks for reacting! Good to see y'all again! Austin did a Fantastic job with this one! I think you would enjoy "LISTEN TO THE MUSIC" "ADAM RUPP DRUM SOLO" live 2015 red flannel shirt & everything the other Fry's have suggested. Take care and see y'all later! New sub! Sending love from South Georgia ♥️😃🍟
for sure! we wouldnt have been able to forget about them lol after taking the summer off from TH-cam it was a Nice way to ease back into it! we plan on checking out ALL of their music lol Thanks for watching! Much Love
I love your reaction and pray for your Mom. I would add End Of The Road to the list and Blue Aint Your Color. One shows their R & B chops and one the other shows some Motown choreography.
Home Free has released several new songs in the time you have been away. You have a lot of catching up to do. Welcome back to the Rabbit hole. One you might like is their cover of the Doobie Brother's hit, Listen To The Music. Everything they do is fantastic. Their covers are upgrades and their originals are instant hits. Another classic is their cover with Don McLean for the 50th anniversary of American Pie. You'll be blown away.
Percy Sledge would be proud. This was done during lockdown, that is why they are in separate tv. They did a fantastic awesome job. Tim Foust (bass) has a 5+ vocal range. Adam Rupp(beat boxer) has won world championships in beat boxing. Austin(high tenor & lead in this one), Rob( tenor 2) beard & glasses, Chance(sings anything needed). They don't have a lead singer.
Nice! I, too, am partial to the original by Percy Sledge. Home Free blew me away with theirs. A little tidbit, this was done during quarantine with the guys spread out over the US. Austin was in the studio, and he was singing to his lady who was standing near the camera.
These guys are so amazing. I've never liked this song, but these guys killed it. Not just Austin, but the fabulous harmonies in the background vocals. And the vocal percussion was purely amazing. And don't forget the tech guys who put it all together during lockdown.
There's a live video of "Austin Brown singing Unchained Melody at Tim Foust's 6th Birthday" that will equally blow your mind. There is also a live video of Home Free's song Honey I'm Good called "Tim Foust's vibrations" - it's earth shaking (more accurately, I guess venue-shaking). Tim Foust has also blown out the sound system at a concert - it's funny as hell.
You can rest assured, when you see a Home Free cover, you just know they are going to add their swag and, somehow, make it sound “new and fresh” …. but they will NEVER distort or disrespect the original ! …. add a little salt and pepper to the eggs perhaps, but never change the heart of the song.
Home Free is my favorite group and I love Home Free. Austin a beautiful job on this song. The harmonies are beautiful. Adam did a great job on beatboxing and I can hear Tim's low bass voice. 😊❤❤❤❤❤❤
New Home Fry subscriber. Home Free--How Great Thou Art, Blue Ain't Your Color, End of the Road, Take Me Home Country Roads, Listen to the Music, Don't Laugh at Me, Good Old Boy Good Times, Brother, One Man Band, Never Gonna Give You Up, Between A Rock and a Heartache, What's Left of My Heart (original), Dive Bar Saints (original), Cover Me Up, It Looks Good on You (original), Honey I'm Good
Also check out "All About The Bass" "Champagne Taste On A Beer Budget" and "Listen To The Music" as well as "My Church" " In The Blood ". You really can't go wrong on a Home Free song. I would also recommend you listen to their comments after each song. They tell if it's a cover or original and who wrote it if original as well as who arranged it. Enjoy this very deep rabbit hole.
Good reaction! All the songs you mentioned are great choices, but I'm going to add another. Since y'all mentioned haters, I think y'all would like Everybody Walkin' This Land by Home Free. Be sure to listen after the song to Tim's (the bass) outre. Group members: Austin Brown (long reddish hair): high tenor Rob Lundquist (The Beard, glasses): low tenor Tim Foust (long dark hair, now short with a white streak): super bass Adam Rupp (light brown hair): co-founder, alien beat boxer/ vocal percussion/ occasional tenor harmony Adam Chance, aka Chance (short dark beard & hair): since May 2016, baritone-bass Chris Rupp (founder, dark beard with hat or cap): left in May 2016, baritone.
What ya’ll might not know, is that Austin’s girlfriend (wife?) is standing behind the camera during this shoot! That’s why he’s singing so emotionally, and looking/smiling at the camera so much! He’s actually singing his heart out to her!
Every time Austin sings a Love Song, he needs to have his Girlfriend Operate the Camera again so he can look like he’s seducing the camera & his audience. He’s singing to his Girlfriend but it’s like he’s singing to you! Pure Funk!
Austin Brown (the lead in this song) is their high tenor. He loves the mashups so keep an eye out for those. Sea Shanty Melody, Country Fried Pop, and The Butts Remix to start with. Enjoy your journey with Home Free. The Home Fries will not stir you wrong but then you can't go wrong with anything Home Free does.
I remember when they released this, I watched the video about four times in a row. I was just blown away. This song is a classic and they more than did it justice. From the first line, Austin has you captivated.
If you want to get more confused about Home Free, check out The Butts Mix, then Brothers in arms. Ain’t nothin’ they can’t sing. With these two songs, tissues are in order, from laughter to heart rending. CAN’T BEAT ‘EM!
If you love Austin Brown in this video, you should check out Austin & Rob trying to sing opera. It will blow your mind. You will find it on Austin’s TH-cam page.
Thank you both - I am a German "old" man (73 years old and became a fan of soul, funk, groove and R&B at the age of 15, and have remained so to this day), like you both, an absolute music lover. Here in Germany we have a saying for such an emotional song: "...that is so beautifully emotional, it makes your milk rush..." In my opinion, Home Free is the best a cappella band - on a par with Pentatonix.
You want to hear a more live take on them - find a video from when they were on "The Sing-Off" and did the Caddy Shack theme with another group in the competition
Austin (lead here) and Adam (beatboxer) killed it. This was during Covid so they weren’t even together. I thought the tv’s were clever. Good reaction NR!😃
Enjoyed yor reactions. This song was done during the quarantine. You might to listen to 'Listen to the Music. Austin is singing the lead of that song too.
Lol....One reactor said, "Damn! I'm straight.....but I'm not that straight!" 🤣 This was done during lockdown, and his girlfriend was with him when he recorded this, so he's flirting with her, not you. Sorry.🤣 Btw.... We'd like to present for your pleasure....Mr. Austin Brown.
Aside from Adam Rupp (the beatboxer), all of them sing lead on different songs. I love that there's no ego among them (they consider themselves brothers) and whoever best fits the song, is the one who has lead. In some songs (American Pie for example), the all sing lead on different verses. By the way, there's a video "9-5 Beatboxing breakdown" where they alll beatbox.
The person I had gone to the concert with, and I were sitting on the second floor of the venue, and I am fairly confident, at least in one song Tim hit such a low note the entire venue shook
Hey Reels! Great reactions. Adam Rupp is from another planet. World class beatboxer for sure. If you want something that will impress you take a listen to this Home Free: Drum Solo [SPM ST15]. Once you've gone down that rabbit hole the whole group are fairly well acquainted with beatboxing, check this one out Home Free - 9 to 5 + Beatboxing Breakdown, October 27, 2015. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Have a great day!
I'm not sure why you feel reluctant to call this the best version ever, but since you won't say it, I will. This is the best "When a Man Loves a Woman" so far, and it's very hard to imagine a better one coming along anytime soon.
I would recommend you watch Love Me Like That. It's an original about Austins break up with an old girl friend. All of the songs on their Dive Bar Saints album are incredible. Remember this, Catch me if you can. For covers look at Castle on the Hill, Blue aint your color, Traveling soldier, One man band, My Church, Brothers in Arms, Wake me UP, Mayday, Listen to the Music. These guys can sing anything and do it well.
Actually, guys, if you want to see who he's turning that soulful gaze to his his lovely lady, Amberly. To see here check out Austin Brown's video Take the Night Off, or the groups video for Brother. She's the warrior woman with the Keltic looking tattoos. Fantastic visuals for wonderful songs.
Percy Sledge was the first one to have a major hit with this, but a lot of others, including Michael Bolton, also released it. I prefer Home Free’s version. Austin Brown was looking at his girlfriend who was off camera. Also, this was done during the pandemic, and all the guys were in different locations.
I loved the late Percy Sledge's original (not so much Michael Bolton's - I thought it rather over-wrought). I think Home Free's version does justice to the song - the looks are for his lady Amberly. She also does most of the videotaping on Austin Brown's channel. If you haven't seen the cover of "Ain't No Sunshine" on his channel, be sure to watch the talk at the end. It's directed to reactors.
Insofar as breath control, a commenter on his rendition of "Danny Boy" (on Austin's channel) actually counted - throughout the whole song they said he took 14 breaths.
I'm sure someone else has said it already, but you guys absolutely must check out voiceplay. The things you love about Homefree also apply to Pentatonix. New subscriber.
Too funny and true
Well said!
Spot on, the best descrition of Home Free I have ever read! ❤️
So let's recall the collective abilities of Home Free.
-- 5 lead singers
-- 5 tenors
-- 3 baritones
-- 2 bass
-- 1 basso profundo
-- 5 beat boxers/vocal percussionists
-- 1 EXCEPTIONAL beatboxer/drum kit/ vocal percussionist
-- 5 guys proficient in various genres: (Pop/Country/R&B/Rock/Gospel/Rap/Blues/Musical theater/Comedy/Holiday/Doo Wop/AND NOW Opera..Opera!!/dancers-in- training 😉 )
Oh, and IMHO...they present upgrades 'not' covers.
Totally accurate! 💯 🥰

You've heard their top end...if you want to hear more of the bottom end (bass/baritone), line up with their cover of Dire Straits' "Brother in Arms."
Austin Brown the singer was singing to BFFGF Amberly that was in studio with him this was done during the pandemic lockdown that's why the T.V. screens.
Well dont tell Brit that! lol she seems to think he is swooning her! ;)

The reason for the TV's was this was made during Covid so they were not together. They all did there part from home. Now you need to do 'End of Road'.
Love Home Free 💕, So Glad To See You back to React to Home Free. Thank You

Great reaction, welcome to the Homefries. There doesn't need to be a 'better than' decision made, music is amazing and wonderful like that.

It was better!! Lol
Super talented artist sing with their body and their hands it is scientifically proven and they are all amazing at that!
Home Free's "Crazy Life" lego edition is also a good watch.
Hey guys great reaction!! Homefree is certainly in a class of their own they own the lane are in really. God bless you and yours and God bless the USA

I love you guys you're so adorable! And yes I'm seconds into the video and it is a panty dropper!
What you really won't believe is Tim actually has a 5 octave range, like Mariah Carey. He can sing extremely high as well as down in the dirt.
I can confirm this is an accurate statement having seen Home Free in concert.
