6:03 That’s a looot of work...tumbs up guys👍🏻. I just thought of a little very helpful advice we learned at vocational school ( just in case you didn‘t know): For a harmonic „veneer-image“ (Furnierbild as we call it in Germany) put the veneer with its bright sapwood(edge) only nexto sapwood, and heartwood nexto heartwood...the crossings appear more natural through this arrangements. This means: [sapwood, heartwood] [heartwood, sapwood] [sapwood, heartwood] etc... I really appreciate your work and all your effort. In my opinion one of the best woodworking channels. Ps: it looks soo relaxing...but when you’re in the workshop things go complicated or stressful😅...especially when you glue something and everything has to be accurate Greetings form Germany
Shaun Boyd - Foureyes ...yea that‘s a huge plus👍🏻. You guys make it seem so easily...am i the only one with these issues during my woodworking projects🙈😂.
Thank you for the video. Learned you can take multiple cuts using a flush trim bit instead of taking a full thickness cut all at once. I bought and used a two inch long flush trim bit for my previous project. It was scary. Will use your guy's technique next time. Thank you
@@arankthnar just to be clear - it was more of a joke. I always knew their skill is beyond reach. And Shaun? Had my sub as well, so I see no harm here.

*Hello there, I have requested your DVDs, for simpler and quicker approach to manufacture a shed **Allmy.Tips** I trust the substance are as you guaranteed it will be. Just I'm worried with the substance, it won't be anything but difficult to settle on a decision from the various plans.*
Brilliant video from start to finish and is packed with lots of pro tips and techniques. You are even teaching a bit of geometry which is really helpful in woodwork. I'm looking forward to you building a mitre station if you are going to do one?
Hello my friend. Unless you try out the innovations, you cannot learn something new. And you are always working to teach innovations. And you always produce innovative studies and ideas. Thank you for sharing. See you. greetings.
I think the honesty goes all the way to make these videos great. Sounds a bit of a stretch but the powers that be could learn a lot as in ‘ we know you don’t fully understand what’s going on but we shall give you the benefit of the doubt! ‘ 🤣good stuff chaps.
Great presentation! Three questions, if I may. How thick did you cut the veneer; did you leave the underside of the ply substrate unveneered; and, how did you finish the tabletop?
Question - Is there an advantage/disadvantage to cutting the veneer thicker, say ¼ inch? This video is very timely for me since I am making a Murphy bed and need to veneer a panel the size of a mattress. Thanks...and great build.
The thicker the veneer, the more chance for seasonal wood movement, similar to if you just made a solid wood table top. So doing a pattern like I did for this table, might not work out over time. And yes, epoxy gives more open time, and it isn't water-based like wood glue, so it doesn't cause the veneer to warp from moisture when you are trying to apply it to the substrate.
The weird times have done something to me. For whatever reason, “thickni” came off as way more funny than you may have intended. As always men, quality stuff. Thank you.
As a huge fan, and love most you do there is always room for constructive critisism. I feel the legs do not match the asthetic of the table. I believe alot of people get stumped..lol...on the legs. Your legs on other pieces you do are thought out...why not use metal if you were going to make legs black and look like metal...a more elongated leg welded by a local welder with eyecatching geometry..after all this is a centerpeice in a wine tasting room and should be unique from top to bottom...There was a link to this metal shop on blacktail studios table leg video...they are in u.s....look at that site and legs...or go longer support beam with unique legs branching out....again your work is awesome and just feel legs get forgotten but acually make the table.
The client originally wanted a metal base, and I don't do any metal work, so he asked me to do something similar to the original design, but in wood. So this where we ended up. I think it looks pretty good, and the main thing with the base was to not take any attention from the top.
Since you have you used both, mind telling me if there is a big difference between the Kreg and Festool track saws? I am considering the Kreg right now but wondering if I should save some more for the Festool.
Nice build and I love the style. My favorite part has to be the little sneak peek of the cabby! Got me excited enough to give you a follow on Instagram. Also I would not be sad if you guys had an offshoot video or a few on your cars and restoration of. Great work per usual.

a glance as well @ 3:33 ; good choice of car!

Neat trick with the veneer sled. I have a very complicated project coming up and the sled technique will help a lot.
Awesome! It works like a charm.
very impressive and nice table. You should be careful with only putting veneer on the top though, this can lead to warping
Oh man, I wish I could’ve raided your offcuts from this project. That whole slab with all the bark would’ve been perfect for a project I’m working on.
I’m raiding him first!
There sure were a lot of offcuts, though most of them still had bugs living in them.
Woodworking? Completed it mate.
Haha, I did it! Thanks man!

What a amazing table. A lot of work, but beautiful in the end.

Haha, can’t go off script. Thanks!
OMG. It's very hard work. Good job guys. Super good job.
Thank you!
I almost screamed when you poured the colored epoxy into the gap. I cannot believe the color didn't leech into the wood
Little bit of sanding takes care of it.
@@shaunb66 Just sanded down fine prior so no voids for it to seep into?
@@Russ-od2yy Yeah, pretty much. There is always a tiny bit of bleed into the grain, but that usually goes away with a bit of sanding afterwards.
Great presentation! Three questions, if I may. How thick did you cut the veneer; did you leave the underside of the ply substrate unveneered; and, how did you finish the tabletop?
Hahaha yes sure, Shaun, always cut first and then measure, great! 😀 Lovely video and table!
That was expert usage of a Mr. Rogers clip. I LOLed IRL.
That was truly, truly magical!

This video is very timely for me since I am making a Murphy bed and need to veneer a panel the size of a mattress. Thanks...and great build.
Hazem Bata I have the exact same question. Plus, why epoxy instead of wood glue or contact cement for glueing the veneer?
@@turcmic I imagine the epoxy was to give them more time to work. Glue sets in about 15 minutes. Epoxy sets in a few hours.
Thanks for the additional info! Very informative. And, as usual, GREAT work Shaun! Cheers from Montreal!

When you took out the veneered plywood I noticed that some of the epoxy had bleed through. How did you deal with that when finishing the top? Thanks.
It just sanded away, no big deal.
