    So, I’ve gotten myself into the horrible place of weak, ugly nails because I also really like to change up my nails but I’ve done it with tips and stuff. I just want to say that it so nice to find someone else who likes to change their nails all the time (I thought I was weird) and it’s even better to have so much awesome info about products and routines that work. Thanks for sharing and explaining everything!

    I was using the Sally Hanson cuticle remover for a long time, but I spotted Blue Cross at Sally’s and tried it out-Blue Cross is a lot better, and works instantly. I use a q-tip to apply. It makes removal on hands and feet sooo easy. Just my recommendation. Great video!

    I love that pink polish you’re wearing. It’s so subtle and pretty. What color/brand is that?

    Beautiful nails. I’m also lactose intolerant, but I make sure I get more dark leafy greens in my diet. It’s actually a way better source of calcium than milk. Also if you take a calcium supplement, make sure it’s calcium citrate. More absorbable for the body.

      G Smith wow, thanks for the tip! I didn't know that about calcium citrate. I bet my doctor told me that and I just wasn't listening, lol.

    Unless I'm soaking my gel with tips off, I always use non-acetone polish remover. It's less harsh than acetone, seems, at least with gel extensions, to remove the polish super fast and ( I use IBD Builder Gel - Pink ) the nails are as shiny when the polish comes off as when I first put them on every time so the non-acetone doesn't seem to hurt the gel at all. I'm loving my gel nails, won't be going back to acrylic EVER!! This is like wearing nothing on my nails at all, acrylic sometimes felt like it weighed a ton on my nails and did not look natural at all. Even my husband as commented on how natural my nails look naked.

      Dawn de la Morte what light do you use with your IBD gel? My led lights won't cure it and I have to buy a uv light.

    • @dawndelosmuertos4025
      @dawndelosmuertos4025 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The light I have is RapidCure Versatile UV Lamp, it's $24.95. It was the 9 watt starter light that I got here: www.premiernailsource.com/ They sell to pro an non-pro. It came in the kit they had over a year ago with their own brand, Nail Basix, the light (was supposed to be a 6 watt), a 1 oz jar of their clear gel and a brush for $19.99. It's $39.99 now, they stopped making the UV gel, now it's UV/LED gel and an LED light and the same other stuff or you can buy alone. It's a great place for nail techs or just nail lovers, you can't find lower prices. I got my first .05oz jar of IBD Builer gel on sale for $8.95, it's $19.95 now. You can by 9 watt replacement lamps, usually on sale for BOGO for $4.99. It takes 4 minutes for me to cure with the 9 watt light, then I give them an extra 2 minutes after I remove the inhibition layer. So far, so good! I bought a jar of the Nail Basix x-thick clear gel, it makes a great builder gel as well, $6.95 for a 1 oz jar. Hope that helps!

    Thanks for sharing .May I ask 2 questions.How often do you change you gel Orly ?Do yo use a primer before gel Orly?iI’m a beginner learning from You Tube.

    • @MoonlitandPolished
      @MoonlitandPolished  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Deborah sTARNES I change/fill every two weeks. Unless I have to repair a break. Since this video I have switched from the Orly overlay to builder in a bottle. The Orly overlay is the better choice if you are a beginner. Using a prime will help the overlay stick to the nail bed. Mine last longer without lifting when I have used primer. However, using primer will make it harder to fully remove from the nail. In that case I would file it off not soak it.

    Hi! Very useful video, thank you! You know, the corners of my square nails chip off too, and I’d like to make a more rounded shape too, but I can’t! For some reason I’m not able to make a rounded shape, it’s always a mess... it’s not coming out as round as it should be, it’s always irregular 😡 This is why I prefer square/squoval nails in the end, ‘cause it’s a much easier shape to make 😕 (at least to me!)

    Hii im new in your chanel, i want to ask are u still usin orly bodyguard? What is the difference from bodyguard and builder in a bottle?? Which choice for thin natural Nails?? Thxn u ❤️

    • @MoonlitandPolished
      @MoonlitandPolished  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nora Nora hey, I don’t still use the orly body guard. Not that it isn’t good. It is great and works well. I just need something harder and stronger (polygel). I do a lot of crafting and other work with my hands that needed more support. I have a cousin that I turned on to bodyguard and she loves it and still uses it. I haven’t tried the orly builder in a bottle. I did try the born pretty one and I didn’t like it.

    Your nails are enviable. Orly makes another product called the Easy Off GelFX that works the same way and is meant to be used as a gel basecoat. It's supposed to make all the gel on top come off that way. I'm a huge fan of glass files, but they have to be good quality. Germanikure is the best brand. They also make incredible nail tools, best cuticle nippers I've used.

    • @MoonlitandPolished
      @MoonlitandPolished  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jenn W I totally have the Orly Gel Fx easy off. I did a video on it that Orly asked if they could feature in the comments. I threw out all of my other base coats after I tried it. Thanks for the file recommendation. I like the idea of glass files but still haven't found one I like. I will look for the one you mentioned 😊

      I don't use Gel, but I do know that scraping it off with your own nail is not a good idea...you'll scrape the surface of the natural nail

    Do you take any kind of supplements for nail strength and peeling? I have Lupus & lately my nails are peeling and have become extremely soft.

    • @MoonlitandPolished
      @MoonlitandPolished  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tracy Shawler I only take the calcium pills because of my lactose intolerance. I don't know if any supplements that would help, sry. Try asking your Doctor.
