Thank you! I was trying to figure out the coptic stitch for a Christmas gift and FAILED miserably! I learned the pamphlet stitch from you. That little book was given as part of a birthday present. I didn't think I was ever going to figure out something with signatures.

How about twenty something Pages and journaling by fives with a buddy with something like this? I love the idea to mail junk mail around the world! And in the end one could add the sent envelopes as well. I am getting excited! 😄

+Christy Mills There are many junk journal videos on my channel that you browse through to see the different ways I've used them. Sometimes I don't use them, I give them away or sell them or just hoard them until I figure out what they want me to do with them!

Mostly on Etsy and the price depends on how complicated it was to make.

WONDERFUL, Shannon! Thanks for the very thorough tutorial! I've always wondered how the binding was done. I think I may look forward to junk mail but I can see why you have to be selective. The final result after binding was so neat, love the little tuck-aways' cubbies for those silly coupons! I bet a little child would really enjoy discovering those. Can't wait for the next step ... decorating!!

Love this! I'm in the process of collecting junk mail so I can make one. I love the clips you use. Can you tell me what brand they are & where you got them? I love your videos. You are so fun! I'm going to go back & watch all of them!
I have no idea what brand they are but you can buy them at Harbor Freight and I've seen them at dollar stores as well.
I've always painted the junk mail before putting it together. I just can't seem to get myself to put it together first.

I have never done one of these! Not quite sure what what the purpose of them are? Can we paint in them after making them? What do we do with them? I love to find ways to make things out of trash so this would be rite up my ally! But for me 'i'd have to add some color in it to decorate it up. Love the idea! The baker's twine adds a great touch! I have always used waxed linen thread, but then the light bulb went off in my head!! You can find wax in the quilting isle and then run the baker's twine through and taaa daaa!!! waxed thread!!! In theory, it should really help the thread/twine not to tangle (my biggest problem) when hand sewing anything!! Always, Leslie

Hi again.....I've just had a brain storm! I was clearing out all of the receipts from shopping on line, and you know the packing slip that they all include? Well, it's the RETURN paperwork I'm talking about here. I was about to pitch it, when I realized that they were all printed on sticky backed paper. If I can get some paint, or such to cover it successfully, then I don't have to buy sticky backed plain paper, I can simply use these junk sheets!!!! Reuse, Re-purpose, Recycle!!!! Thanks, lol

Ok I love your junk journals and I'm trying to get into it. You should see the box of junk mail I have, so now I'm inspired to bind it. But can you help me with the little cards (dollars off) that you were sticking into envelopes like mad. What do you do with them in the journal? I have a boat load of them and I'm sinking cause I don't know what to do with them but I save them cause you do!! :-)
+Marcia Edwards You save them cuz I do...I love it!! LOL You can make little tags out of them and slip them into envelopes, pockets or tuck spots. They can be decorative tags with something artsy on them or you can cover them with plain paper to make them little journaling spots. You can even put photos on them if that's your thing.
OK. Call me stupid if ya want, but you made a junk journal just to put junk in it? lol I would be painting and decorating those pages. Cool video and I honestly have never thought about using junk mail for a journal! Great idea!!

Ok, Shannon Green! I need to do this. I have the Awl, I have the hemp, and bakers twine too. I even have a juice box I will use for a cover, but what I don't have is a Needle?? what type are you using here, it looks pretty danged big. I do NOT sew, AT ALL!! (beyond replacing buttons), so I have no idea what or where to look for anything beyond a basic small needle used to replace buttons???? HELP ME!!!
+susan humphreys LOL You can find bookbinding needles at the craft store or you can just go to the sewing section and by some tapestry needles. The bookbinding needles tend to be more blunt than tapestry needles but either one will work. You just want to make sure the eye is big enough for your hemp but not so huge that it makes a giant gaping hole in your spine :)

+Martha Menningen Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. :) In this case I am painting the pages and using it as sort of an art journal.
What is the pokey thing that you use to make the holes, and where do you get one please?
+Dottie Lou Crisp It's just a pokey tool or you can use an awl. They're available at craft stores or do a Google search for pokey tool to find some online.
Mine came from Harbor Freight. Inexpensive and even cheaper with their normal 20% off coupon
Is it odd or even number of holes? I never seem to remember.
With a long stitch it doesn't matter...both odd and even will work out the same.
