- In this video, I unpack a little more what the revelations from the Governance document means and what it doesn't and try to build a picture based on the Nintendo financial obligations due to fair play rules.
My previous video: • Will they announce Swi...
Nintendo Prime's (@nintyprime) take: • Nintendo Just CONFIRME...
This is the best comprehensible overview of the Fair Play rules I could find:

in Japanese, there is no “A” or “The”. It’s very context dependent. There also are no quote-on-quote plural versions of nouns. (I guess you can add “tachi” to the word “anata”(you) to create “anatatachi” which means You Guys)
When I heard the "A" or "The" spiel, I too thought "文脈があいまいじゃないけど"; I would imagine it would have been clear from the get-go, since Nintendo also trusts its translators, especially when it comes to stakeholder communication.
I would need to see the original text to elaborate further, though "A" vs. "The" seems like a frivolous argument.
The quality of info and research here is so high. These are gamechanging points that I’ve seen literally not a SINGLE person online bring up.
No pressure. 😅
You know the rules, and so do I
A full commitment's what i'm thinking of
You wouldn't get this from any other guy
I just wanna tell you how I’m feeling
Gotta make you, understand!
Never gonna give you up
As a Japanese language student, Japanese is a very vague and non-specific language. So translation is often a guessing game that needs to consider context, the tone, the register, and so on.
That sounds like hell for foreign negotiations and contracts haha

@drumd00d Yeah, I never considered the legal aspect of it, actually
the best nintendo channel on youtube
Great video but the captions are the same as your last video, not sure if you noticed
this!
Should be fixed now. Thanks for flagging it!
I find it amazing how often you upload, like, genuinely when I found out about this channel after watching a couple videos (I've watched a lot more since) I liked them a lot but I thought you would be like one of these guys that drops a video once in a blue moon and then takes months for the next one. But these video uploads are consistent, high-quality (information wise which is what matters) and cover a variety of topics, I don't know how what's your process for studying a subject and preparing a video (maybe that would be a cool video idea along with a q&a) but I'm here for it.
i was thinking the same exact thing! I literally just found this channel yesterday and im genuinely obsessed. Its so nice seeing game videos that are actually based on logic and not ragebait like ive been seeing recently
Some ppl just have the drive to make content and some will make 1 vod every 6 months. Everyone's different, so long as he's balancing his time in a healthy manner and doesn't get burnout. But yea he's got good videos!
I also give this guy kudos. He does he due diligence in providing quality, novel content and information. At least a few of the other similar “Nintendo related news” channels just regurgitate the same old thing on a daily schedule and rarely provide anything new, and never anything I didn’t see on Twitter first anyway.
Thank you! I'll consider a video on that topic... although I'm not sure if there's all that much to show!
Super great and informative video as always! I look forward to anything that you might have to say on the investors report. Anyways, just a small heads up- I think that you might have uploaded the wrong captions for this video. The captions seem to be the same as the captions for your last video, and they don't match up to the audio of what you're saying. Usually this channel has very good captions, and the effort to make said good captions is always noticed and appreciated.
Thanks - and yes, sorry about the captions. Should be fixed now...!
This is my favourite channel on the entirety of TH-cam. Thank you for everything you do man!
Thanks for being here!
Please please please keep making these videos!!! They are so much fun to listen to and watch
🎉🥳
I think we know exactly what it means now. 🎉🥳
And yes, I'm just just pretty excited about the news 😂
I replied on a comment but I’ll make another comment just to boost engagement. I appreciate the research you put into your videos. I hope you continue to be better than the other Nintendo News related channels in this regard. (Nice way of saying don’t fall into the daily upload trap to appease the algorithm… you are on a nice and consistent schedule already)
Thanks for the comment and I think it's good advice. The three-per-week schedule is definitely the default, at least at present . Could be a little less at times (June/July is normally a fairly frantic time for me at work although I'm building up a goodly backlog of videos in anticipation so we'll see how it goes). Could be a little more than 3/week occasionally - later on, I'll have an additional video for the week to respond to the Furukawa announcement. It's a bit of an indulgence I suppose but has some observations I think will move the conversation on and there'll be a "proper" video following it. If things hot up announcement-wise, I may look to up my frequency but even so, I don't consider myself a news channel really; there's plenty of stuff that gets flagged in the Nintendo news I don't really go near and honestly I have a very tight schedule so doing off-the-cuff videos is often tricky. Equally, while research-based forecasting videos will always be this channel's bread and butter, I think the channel has scope to branch out now and then. In fact, there's one coming in a few days that I fully expect to bomb out of the gate because it's about as off-brand for the channel as you can get but it's fun to experiment and a more regular release schedule actually helps with that - less danger of one video spiking the channel's wheels. Ultimately as long as I'm finding it fun, I hope the viewers will too. Appreciate the engagement!
My question is what do they have to gain by disclosing it to select investors instead of waiting to disclose it to all of them? Either way, if they did start talking, that makes it more likely for more info to be shared soon imo. Not to go back into secrecy. I stand by this.
Because some people are more discreet and trustworthy than others, in order to minimise any leaks into the public domain.
Investors are like ordinary people. Some are discreet, others are a loudmouth, still others have investments in other companies. Like Sony or Microsoft.
well they officially acknowledged it.. I was on the train of they just meant the topic was brought up like how investors always like to ask and they side stepped it as per usual but looks like there were deeper discussions. To think one line in a month old document basically confirmed it well before
8:00 also this is exactly what nintendo did
I don't work at Nintendo, but I do work as a Japanese to English translator in the IT field, and I can say with certainty that any official English translation of corporate Japanese is going to have been checked and edited internally, which means the language is trust-worthy.
Thanks - appreciate you sharing your insight.
Thanks for all you do. Am Uber excited for switch 2
FYI on my end your captions don't seem to Line up at all with your audio. Actually, it looks like the captions from the prior video.
This is an hour later, but the captions seem fine for me. Looks like they must have fixed them.
Should be fixed now - thanks for the heads up.
What's up with the captions not matching the video at all?
As per the channel owner, it seems to be fixed.
You perceptive videos seem to have forced Furukawa's hand, and he's semi-aknowledged Switch 2 on X (previously Twitter)
I hope that forced part is a joke.
10/10 music choice

New subscriber I found your channel real Nintendo prime
Welcome aboard!
You should totally start a Discord Server for us to discuss all of this stuff on
Interesting idea. I'll look into that as something for a little down the track.
WELL WE KNOW NOW LMAO
ESG is flawed. Consoles reduce carbon impact by entertaining populations without them having to expend more carbon by leaving their homes. Xbox made the same mistake and I use the machine less because of all the electricity usage reductions. Remote play turned off by default. Fast boot up off.
End result, people play games less and turn to traditional (carbon wasting) activities instead.
That's some major leap in logic.
The ESG in that document is a HUGE red flag. While Nintendo is no stranger to representation, their earliest example being Birdo being trans (I think), with the current climate, it’s entirely possible that they could be corrupted into doing harmful representation (ie the one Twitter wants).
We've gone so far deep as a politically divided world, where the words "Environmental, social, and governance" became a dogwhistle for "people I don't like on twitter are saying we should make others feel welcome".
ESG can also include shit like "Hey let's make the packaging for the 3DS games less wasteful and use less plastic" which they literally did. Literally you people would complain if Metroid was made today and revealed Samus as a woman, your sphere of the internet would go "NINTENDO GONE WOKE? UNCESSARY SAMUS GENDER REVEAL??"
Twitter isn’t a monolith so it’s hard to figure out what This person meant by that. Given that Elon musk is in charge I could assume you mean trans erasure, or I could assume you mean plenty of people who are trans and just want to be treated as people.
@@hi-ougidemonfangI’m all for representation, but only if the people being pandered to feel properly represented and/or feel like they can relate to the character. Most games nowadays do it on such a shallow surface level that the people being pandered to feel offended more than anything. People don’t like black characters (unless the story is about racism, culture, etc), they like characters that just so happen to be black.
@@paperluigi6132 This is generally the right take, as an autistic person the bad representation i get in media has genuinely caused me many real world problems (with most people getting their idea of what autism is like from said media and whatnot).
That said lack of representation can be far worse than bad representation. Before autism rep was really a thing all most people had to go off of were sensationalized news stories about intellectually disabled children, like people would be surprised that I could talk coherently.
@@paperluigi6132 And you're the advocate for those people? Did you get the permission to speak for those people? Do you think lack of diversity isn't "pandering", perhaps even more so, because acting like black, gay or autistic people (it could even be one person) don't exist is delusional. All kinds of people are part of our daily life, especially if you live in a rather big city, so why shouldn't media reflect that diversity?
Why do so many Nintendo IPs keep flopping compared to modern AAA games on ps nowadays? Does Nintendo keep becoming irrelevant every generation?
Saying like AAA games don't flop too
