Hey Eedo! My experience of the Nexus (1 and 2) is that it loops much like the GTS and jumps about the same. It's significantly faster turning than the XR, however it lacks the sheet in and go that the XR gives. The Nexus excels as an all-round kite. Nicely done guys! Sums it up well and entertaining to watch 😂 Maybe include wave and foil in it the next time, it appeals to more people than wakestyle. 😉
@@gethighwithmike For wave/foil, I find the GTS is far superior to the XR. The GTS drifts much better when going downwind and has more control overall. For wave/foil, I've moved completely from my XRs to GTSs for many years now. XR is still my preferred jumping kite though.

Exactly the comparison and info I was looking for! Nice to see honest rider feedback without the marketing BS. The only thing you didn’t cover is rider weight. You guys don’t look very heavy. What size of XR do you recommend for a 200lb (90kg) rider in a great 20kts to learn mega loops?
Understood that looping speed is key for a safe landing....and you both seem to really like the 8m.....but for me to get big air on an 8m - I need 25kts or more wind. ....but the I haven’t tried an AR yet.....
Tnx for the vid Guys! From how many knots you can ride the xr6 8m with 80kg bodyweigt? I’m in doubt between buying 8m or 9m xr6 for 20+ knots. Is the low end a big difference between those two? (I’m coming from the xr4 9m, didnt love the xr5 that much)
If you want to get one 12m and one 9m you go for a 12m delta and 9m C, or the opposite? If you want to try it all, Big jumps, old school, unhooked, wake style.
I don't think that it is possible to have top gear for each category. if you like to go high and do big loops I would get a small XR as freestyle isn't good with small kites. From 9m and above I would consider c shape for freestyle, maybe a 9m GTS would be a good idea as it is a big air kite as well as freestyle.

It took me a little while to learn where the kite was as I couldn't sense it as much. Once I got the hang of it I learned to love it. In gusty or high winds there is a lot more give, so it's not as tiring as the kite has a more absorbing quality to it. Guys, love your vids! Question: what wind range do you need to ride your favorite 8m XR? We usually have between 15 to 30kn in The Netherlands, feel its a bit small, thnx!
Mike and I usually connect 8m XR with over 28knots, still feels quite light with that kind of wind but we prefer to be underpowered on our favorite 8m XR rather than powered on bigger kites.
Hey guys! Nice video! But what about the Nexus? I have an 11m nexus, i love it for the looping transitions, but I never looped my kite while airborn.. now the real question: I wanne buy a 8m XR, but the guys from the shop say it would feel to slow compared to my Nexus. So what should I buy? A 8m Nexus2 or XR? Big Air Thanks! 🤙
Awesome video and that 8 second intro made me laugh! Janek - have you thought about auditioning for mop commercials...? 🤣🤣🤣 I have 3 questions. 1) What are the best settings for - leading edge CTI - wingtip loops - 3 knot backline attach points for BIG AIR on the XR kite. Steven Akkersdjk did a great vid covering this topic but I dont think it was very specific to just the XR kite and just for big air. What do you 'the pros of old-school, big-air and looping' opt for in terms of the above settings for the XR kite? 2) Are the above settings the same for your 7m to your 13.5m XR kites? 3) Do you still keep your bigger XR kites (11m and up) lower to the water before initiating the 'Send Kite->Hop->Pull Bar in->Pop' for big air jumps? Appreciate your awesome creativity and hard work!! ❤
I always use the same settings, the original connections, the same as it comes from the shop. On all my kites. I believe that if you will be changing the connections all the time you will never be capable of fully feeling the kite. I would recommend getting used to one setting and leaving it for a while.
Hi guys, love watching your tricks. I would like to know which adjustments you do on the kite and what linelenght are you using. Thx, just continue and take care🤟🤟🤟
Great content guys. I am very grateful. I am just learning heli loops right now. How many jumps would you guess it takes to get very comfortable with knowing when to pull the heli loop and how hard to pull on that bar? My jumps are probably averaging only five meters. Should I work on going higher before I practice kite loops? Would love your comments. Thanks guys, Dave S. (Las Vegas)
It is important to be able to go high before learning how to kiteloop, but even more importantly you must know how to heliloop before attempting kiteloops. Heli loops are a very advanced technique and they take a very long time to master, even me and Mike can always improve on how to them, it's all about timing. Once you start landing smoothly from heliloops you can start attempting kiteloops.
Hi guys, I'm writing to you from Chile. I'm about to buy a core xr 10 meters to sail here. My query is if it's the best option, since I'm seeing the same measured north orbit, here we sail in range of 12 to 25 knots . What a measure you can recommend or better kite option, I look for something big air, andtime and freeraider
@@gethighwithmike I enjoy looping my GTS from 25 until 35knts, but I want jump higher in all jump. I’m scared that my GTS6 9m and the XR6 8m have the same wind range...

I usually don't kite in 15 knots, it's just too light to have enough power on the kite. I think the highest someone could jump in 15-20 knots would be around 11-14m? My favorite wind strength is from 35-40 knots.
This is a great info video, I got one question for Mike: since I’m on a Cabrinha Switchblade and it’s a delta like the XR, how does it compare? Any experience? Keep up the great work on the channel
Hi Diogene, I’m only intermediate, but I had Switchblade 6, 8, 11 and contra 13, 15. Until I got to ride XR at Real- now I only have XR. I find the XR smoother and easier to control, the quality is so much higher- very tough and robust, plus the tip shape make it much easier to relaunch than the corners on the SB. Also the CIT settings do a nice job of tuning bar pressure / response vs just the turning speed connections on the SB
hi mike where could i try a xr 8m becuase i really love it and its kiting season in cape town and i want to go big. i have consistantly been jumping and looping 10m jumps but i want to go higher plz let me know what you can do for me bru thx. neoooooow
Hey!!! Great video!!! I’m into a new XR6!!! 😃... One question: what is the max PSI pressure you often pump it up? I find that 8 PSI sometimes seems not that rock solid to me... 😅
I am just thinking about leaving my bandits after 10+ years behind me and try the xr. What size would suits to me? 90 kg always had 9 and 12m2. Your video made me hungry 😂
If you've been happy on a 9 and 12 Bandit and you weigh 90kg, you must be in pretty strong wind! I would recommend an 8 and 11 XR since the power will be about the same :) or stick with 9 and 12 combo! For sure try the XR. You're gonna love it!
Unfortunately, I'm not the best foiler and I only go on a foil to cruise around without doing jumps and I always take the Nexus. XR is not the best for the Foil. It flies in a smaller window which makes it harder to foil with. I think if you would just want to go for a big air session on the foil the XR could be a good choice, but when cruising around, doing turns it might give you some troubles.
Can somebody comment on what happened at @4:26? The kite seems it got stalled to come up a bit then flapped but its position in the wind window looked OK.
70-73kg, it varies with how much sushi I'm eating 🤷 If you're kiting in the same conditions as me I'd still recommend an 8m. If there isn't enough wind for an 8m I wouldn't recommend it though haha The 7kg weight different isn't that significant when you consider technique
@@gethighwithmike would you recommend the 8m for a 80k rider in 20 to 40knots wind conditions? I would call myself an early intermediate rider I can jump 5m consistently
@Jose please check out my comment above about the wind speeds I fly my Xr in. I wouldn't recommend 1 kite to cover a 20 knots window of 20-40 knots. 8Xr is great for an 80kg rider in 25 knots of cold wind :)
@@gethighwithmike thanks for the reply Mike, I was just wondering if I would be able to tame the beast when it gets around 40knots as I have done before with other 8m (not fun tho it's more about survival than fun) but I guess the safe bet is to go down to a 7 or 6 for anything above 35 isn't?

It's not really about safety, it's more about what you feel more comfortable with. Normal harness tends to be softer on your back where the carbon harness is harder. It is just a preference. Carbon harness also keeps its shape better.

WOW! This was such a good video!! I'm now curious on the Nexus.. I want to get a 9m to complement my CORE 12m XR and 15m GTS, I am roughly 185lbs 6" so would it be better to get a 8m or 9m?
Awesome video lads. 💪 Keep it up
What CIT Setting do you recommend on the XR for Big Air and Kiteloops?
What is the best model of Core kite used for light wind ( 15-17 m ) ?
Yo, what’s up too, :) just a question How to choose the right size of kite and I’m about 70-75 kg and why 8RX, dose RX8 gonna suite me ???
Guys, love your vids! Question: what wind range do you need to ride your favorite 8m XR? We usually have between 15 to 30kn in The Netherlands, feel its a bit small, thnx!
Mike and I usually connect 8m XR with over 28knots, still feels quite light with that kind of wind but we prefer to be underpowered on our favorite 8m XR rather than powered on bigger kites.
@@JanekGrzegorzewski thank you!
Hey guys! 🤙
How do you get your shirt mike? It’s sick!
So what do I do if I love freestyle and Old school
Where do place the Nexus 2?
What's the XR bar pressure like (high-med-low) ?
Super interesting!!
Awesome video and that 8 second intro made me laugh! Janek - have you thought about auditioning for mop commercials...? 🤣🤣🤣
I have 3 questions.
1) What are the best settings for
- leading edge CTI
- wingtip loops
- 3 knot backline attach points
for BIG AIR on the XR kite.
What kind of wind do you recommend the 8m XR for? 25 kts?
Hi guys,
love watching your tricks. I would like to know which adjustments you do on the kite and what linelenght are you using.
Thx, just continue and take care🤟🤟🤟
Hey Dennis! Thanks so much! We ride on the standard settings when you pull it out the bag. See the line lengths answer in the video description :D
If I start my session high and jump high does that make me higher? 🤔 #highthoughts
(Las Vegas)
Yes go higher first. Gl
I learned heliloops in maybe 5 Sessions after that I got them in my muscle memory
How about wave riding?
Hi guys, I'm writing to you from Chile. I'm about to buy a core xr 10 meters to sail here. My query is if it's the best option, since I'm seeing the same measured north orbit, here we sail in range of 12 to 25 knots . What a measure you can recommend or better kite option, I look for something big air, andtime and freeraider
hey mike can u tell me your opinion on an 12m XR??
Thanks for your advise guys !!
But when you already have a GTS6 9m, witch size of XR6 buying ?!?
Depends what wind you're in and what you're trying to do! :)
@@gethighwithmike I enjoy looping my GTS from 25 until 35knts, but I want jump higher in all jump. I’m scared that my GTS6 9m and the XR6 8m have the same wind range...
love u guys too!! yeaw!! So I have a question for u 2 kite astronautes. What kind of height do u get when kiting in 15 knots "If" u ever do and what is your favourite wind strength? How high can anybody expect to jump in 15 to 20 knots?
Also the CIT settings do a nice job of tuning bar pressure / response vs just the turning speed connections on the SB
hi mike where could i try a xr 8m becuase i really love it and its kiting season in cape town and i want to go big. i have consistantly been jumping and looping 10m jumps but i want to go higher plz let me know what you can do for me bru thx. neoooooow
When are you guys coming to Ireland! Let us know and we'll show you the breaks 🤙🤙🤙
Hey guys awesome video. How big of a diference is there between a xr and wave kite like the core section? Will the xr jump much higher?
Thanks
Really big difference! I don't like the section at all for big air 😂
@@gethighwithmike Alright, Thanks
Hi Mike and Janek
I m thinking of buying an xr . Because of my 95 kg would i best chose an 8 9 or 10m?
Depending on the wind . All my friends on this scale they use 13.5 if the wind is above18-20 then 11..
Hey!!! Great video!!! I’m into a new XR6!!! 😃... One question: what is the max PSI pressure you often pump it up? I find that 8 PSI sometimes seems not that rock solid to me... 😅
In strong and gusty winds I like to pomp it up to 9 PSI. But if the wind is light 8 PSI is enough :)
@@JanekGrzegorzewski Thanks so much for responding! 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Need a new take on this one with Nexus4 instead of GTS. This would be more interesting.
I weigh 69 kg, do you think an XR 9m can I sail from 15 knots?
I am just thinking about leaving my bandits after 10+ years behind me and try the xr. What size would suits to me? 90 kg always had 9 and 12m2. Your video made me hungry 😂
If you've been happy on a 9 and 12 Bandit and you weigh 90kg, you must be in pretty strong wind!
I would recommend an 8 and 11 XR since the power will be about the same :) or stick with 9 and 12 combo!
For sure try the XR. You're gonna love it!
Good job on the video!!
Thank you!!!
amazing video guys!
thank you......soon XR7 WAOOOOOOO im in prea amazing
great video!
At 6:50, Janek talks about trains... Other than on my mom, what trains does he have experience running?
I’m looking into getting some big air on a foil. I’ve been using the 9m nexus and I want more air haha. Do I go with the XR? And if so then what size?
Unfortunately, I'm not the best foiler and I only go on a foil to cruise around without doing jumps and I always take the Nexus. XR is not the best for the Foil. It flies in a smaller window which makes it harder to foil with. I think if you would just want to go for a big air session on the foil the XR could be a good choice, but when cruising around, doing turns it might give you some troubles.
How Nexus 2 for Big Air? I need Core kite for Wave and big air
It’s absolutely epic in my opinion. I have a lot of footage on my Instagram if you’re curious about the nexus and big air🤘🏼 @gieltjuuh
@@Gielvlugt whats highest jums was with Nexus 2? Whats board use?
cool video , you missed part about lines lengths, that would make it more informative
You'll find some info in my description :)
What size of board janek’s choice ? With xr6 8M
Hey, it is 135 Choice 4
Also i want to ask another question to mike and janek do you know when xr7 will be on the market ?
I would expect next year April but don't hold me to that 😛
@@gethighwithmike thanks by the way to both of u
Can somebody comment on what happened at @4:26? The kite seems it got stalled to come up a bit then flapped but its position in the wind window looked OK.
I am guessing he pulled the middle lines to prevent it from falling and for a chance to catch him
What's your weight? Would you still recommend 8m XR for 80kg rider? Wind at my spot rarely goes past 25knots.
70-73kg, it varies with how much sushi I'm eating
🤷 If you're kiting in the same conditions as me I'd still recommend an 8m. If there isn't enough wind for an 8m I wouldn't recommend it though haha
The 7kg weight different isn't that significant when you consider technique
@@gethighwithmike would you recommend the 8m for a 80k rider in 20 to 40knots wind conditions? I would call myself an early intermediate rider I can jump 5m consistently
@@gethighwithmike I meant the 8m xr as my high wind kite
@Jose please check out my comment above about the wind speeds I fly my Xr in. I wouldn't recommend 1 kite to cover a 20 knots window of 20-40 knots. 8Xr is great for an 80kg rider in 25 knots of cold wind :)
@@gethighwithmike thanks for the reply Mike, I was just wondering if I would be able to tame the beast when it gets around 40knots as I have done before with other 8m (not fun tho it's more about survival than fun) but I guess the safe bet is to go down to a 7 or 6 for anything above 35 isn't?
Awesome video, very nice!
I am just finishing my beguiners course on kitesurfing and getting ready to buy my first kite. I wanted to ask you guys if you can recomend any brands or models, I steer towards old school style.
Epic Cristobal! I'd for sure get an XR. Great for beginners and old school
Epic bru!
How high do you Jump for kiteloops a with 12m or 13,5m kite ?
And how long are your Lines when you do kiteloops with big kites ?
I only do kiteloops with 10m kites and smaller 😅
The vidoe of Janek doing a boogie is a 12 Xr 😂😉
Xr's jump high haha!
@@gethighwithmike do you know wich line lenght he use?
Probably 24s, longer lines catches better most of the time, although one might intuitively believe the opposite
@@jakobnilsson4704 In my experience, short lines catch you faster after a kiteloop but I never Tried kiteloops with 12m Kite with 24m lines😅
@@arazulHD Nexus2 12m loop well in 24m lines if you have 18/20knts

Good info, well done👍🏽
great add guys
Põe essa legenda em português 😜
😂 😆 😝 you guys 👍🏻 👌 ☝️
great video, but you didn't say anything about the yank. Nothing yanks like a C kite!
What is the difference between carbon harness and normal harness for big air? Is Carbon harness safety?
It's not really about safety, it's more about what you feel more comfortable with. Normal harness tends to be softer on your back where the carbon harness is harder. It is just a preference. Carbon harness also keeps its shape better.
@@JanekGrzegorzewski tks Janek.

How do you trim your XR kite to go big, really BigAir?
24m lines?Freestylsetting on the leading edge or Freeride?

XR for sure!
@@JanekGrzegorzewski at what power do you ride your XR 13,5.. and at what height do you loop it? Thanks
@@renatomiraglia7783 I usually don't loop the 13.5. I did it a few times, but it's very hard for the kite to catch you, so it’s quite risky 🙄. I could hold 13.5 up to 28knots
