This fusion jazz intro cracks me up so hard, I don't see why there's no band playing this in an extended 10 minute jam at Montreux, or let it be the introduction jingle of a jazz festival.
For you or those who wouldnt know still, check the band Casiopea or "Cosmic Messenger" album, esp. "Dont let the world pass you by", "Egocentric molecules" by Jean-Luc Ponty. Definitely huge influences for this OST

Yes it's so funny of a sound. It also helps me get into the game. It's so relaxing and comfortable to listen to. You could play this music while you study

Underrated game, underrated OST. This game was a total masterpiece. Still my favorite Pilotwings game.

My favorite OST since it came out. I remember playing this for the first time then getting Sim City. That was a fantastic summer.

I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR THIS... The Hanglider music is one of my fav scores ever.
The skydiving music on this game is 1000x better than on PW64.
OMG, the hours I spent in this game back in the days...
Fun fact: many ideas from the GTA San Andreas flight school, where taken from this very Pilot Wings.
In fact, the silver medal gets you the stunt plane and the gold medal gives you the apache helicopter, rining any bels?

I remember struggling so hard with this game as a child. Always loved the music though.
Ahh Pilotwings, one of the very first games that were released at the launch of the Super Nintendo (or Super Famicom if you will), and also one of the first games along that introduced the glorious Mode-7 graphic.

I really love how the "you lost" music is encouraging you to try again. It's like it's saying "hey, you screwed up but you can always try again."

One of those games I never did beat, despite owning it from when I first got my SNES in 1994 or so until I finally gave up on earning my wings and selling the cart around 2019
It's because, in the 4th dimension, the Nintendo Gods saw that one day you would sell the cart, so they forbade you the privilege of seeing the ending of your own volition.

The game's all lighthearted fun and bonus rounds and the final stage suddenly comes on and you're being drafted and going to war. Pilotwings is some heavy shit.
This is amazing dude. Makes me want to bust out the hot cheetos, the gushers, the fruit rollups, the ice cream, and play for hours 😂

Listening to this with a more discerning ear for music years later and I am super impressed with how interesting the harmonies and basslines are. Wish Soya Oka had made more soundtracks because she was definitely creating some amazing stuff

The funniest thing about this game is that they train you all the time to handle an airplane and in the final mission they give you a helicopter LOL

+Erik Peterson Me and my buddies (as kids playing the helicopter level) would build a little fort and pretend it was a helicopter, and put the tv right in the front, and then play along like that, if we got hit and were going down we would fall over and break the fort all apart. Ah, great memories~

(proceeds to perform a takeoff in a helicopter at sea, armed to the teeth with unlimited rockets, and land it under withering AA fire in the middle of a military island complex with no prior training whatsoever)
The bwas remind me of old school Rugrats.
