The one thing that really blew me away with this game was the LOD. You can see the small brush all the way out as far as you can see. Helicopter rides really showcase this.
I’m in love with the game. No way i can play CoD arcade crap after this one. It’s tough, punishing but I’m having a lot of fun and it feels great to complete missions on your own when raiding through infernal places like midnight sapphire. I’m 200hours into the game, I hope new content will arrive soon!
Biggest content I look forward to is how the missions written and play out. Currently feels some are repetitive or awkward. A mission can ask me to go back to repeat the same thing for slightly different reasons. Go get a document in building A, reset, go back kill 20 from that same building you already wiped, reset, go back get the boss, you already killed in the last two missions... think they can clean this up.
As a dad of 2 I really appreciate the framing of this review, how much you can get into it as a non sweaty player. I'll definitely be picking up the game next paycheck :)
A helpful hint for keys: One thing I have found is if you go to the little village areas around an objective the AI enemies usually have keys on them for that objective and not the common ones either. For example for the air field. Find the LZ Golf 3 which is WSW of the remote hanger. Pull up your map are there are 3 little villages all WNW of Golf 3. One of them is a discoverable POI you get XP for. Enemy AI varies in size groups from 2 to 6 or 8. Sometimes there's even loot boxes or other locked doors you'll find keys for. Another good one is for YBL. At the entrance where the guard house and road block is if you follow that road away from YBL you'll run into an area that has an abandoned food stand and broken down semi truck. There is usually one or 2 AI there and I've found keys on them for YBL-Bed and TBL-Strg. If not go further down the road and you'll get to another little village and there are 4 to 6 AI there and one of them usually has a key. There is also an AI that appears at the wood cutter's shed at the ENE end of Lima-1 that sometimes has a key too. Everyone seems to be hyper focused on getting into a location looking for keys then complaining when they can't find them. Yet if they took the time to explore the area around that location they may find what they are looking for. I've also stumbled across XP gaining discoverable POIs and some great loot walking to target areas versus taking the helicopter route. I'd tell you but a. I already gave up some of my hard found information and b. half the fun is finding it on your own.
Just wait for the next big update. The devs will be introducing a day/night cycle, more guns, more missions including night only missions, night vision optics (since all the helmets have mounts for them), attachable lasers and flashlights for your guns, canted sights, and dead livestock and other farm animals to the scenery. No exact date when its actually dropping, but within the next few months is what I understand. And for all those "hoarders" in the game when this update is pushed everyone's character is getting wiped. So there really isn't a need to stock up on AKs, other players M4s, canned coffees etc.
The player count does matter for example I was playing at approx 1am me and a buddy went to the opposing teams base “Lamang Recovery” not 1 chopper flew out of there for two hours that we killed bots in there base.
Agreed with Several points, I have over 150 hours in game. Sound ques are shit. Bushes are bulletproof and ai ambot iron sights from across map. I don't do pvevp. Joint is best mode. They really need to work on ammo effects. Only option is m855a1 black tips. All in all, great game that'll make you pull your hair out rage quit and come back for more after you cool down.
bushes are definitely not bulletproof. I have been killed many times hiding in bushes, and have killed players and AI many times while they are in bushes. Define across the map? As retired military and combat veteran myself you can easily pick someone off at 200m with iron sights. It can still be done out to 500m though its more difficult and in this game you don't have to account for windage. There is still an issue with AI spawinng into walls and getting you that way but that has been really reduced. In my experience though, its that one AI you don't see that gets you whether he's behind you or off to the side, or you get target fixated and don't see it coming around the corner.

Yeah it's hands down the best LOD I've ever seen.
however i think building LOD is very poor 250-300 meters out and builds are a blob
here we are one month later and its hovering around 1000 players

I am glad it has a separate pve mode. I will def be picking this game up for it.

to be honest i really like this game but my pc cant take it :(,so i still play tarkov till this day till i upgrade my pc i will back for this game
They're planning on updating to Unreal 5.4 which I guess should help with performance quite a bit. I hope you get to play it someday soon!
