Hey im with ya man. Got out of actuve duty in 2016. Bad dwi accident landed me in jail for 31 days. My son was only 2 months old and i was facing 8 years because of the injuries my uncle sustained during the accident. Ill be sober for 3 years Nov 18th this year. Its possible brother, stay vigilante. There's hope!
Dude all I did was smoke 🚬. Covid has me craving a nicotine high. I haven't had nicotine in 2 years. Social distancing means I haven't seen my family this year. My mother has to caretake for her parents and my father has been out of the picture my whole life. My childhood friends live over 100 miles away... My wife has been a huge help but after awhile the walls of my home feel like a prison cell instead of a sanctuary. Some days it feels like they're just gone, instead of a 2 hour (one way) drive away. The virus hasn't been as destructive to me personally as the quarantine has. The quarantine has effectively severed my family ties completely. My family are now just as close to me as my work acquaintances. Nothing more than a phone call every few months.
At least with a cigarette or two I'd feel a bit calmer. I can't risk it though or I'll be hooked again in two days. It's too easy to finish a pack and just keep going. I know those withdrawals aren't as bad as other addictions but they still felt worse than the flu. I felt sore like I was sick all the time, threw up when I ate for the first day or two, I had bad migraines, and I was mad at everyone for no reason. I know it's not worth it to have to go through that again for temporary relief but man it's tempting some days.
I can remember singing the words to this song as a 16 year old in High School not truly understanding what the song meant....now I’m singing along to the words as a 30 year old that’s been battling heroin addiction for 8 years and know exactly what this song means. Crazy how the world works....
Hey I was 10 years deep in IV use until about 6 years ago. My DOC was Opana but I did my fair share of H when i couldn't get the other. Don't ever feel like you're stuck. Suboxone saved my ass. Yeah I still take it every day but other than some weed I am sober from that shit. Best thing ever. When you're ready to be done if you can't titrate your dose down, consider a sub clinic. If you can take small doses of it for a few weeks you will kick it. Don't give up man you can do it, I promise. Take care.
@Kaas-Ican True but after 8 years you can't just quit. You need at bare minimum a support group. If you haven't experienced it I don't expect you to understand. Let's just say you cant even get out of bed except to make it to the toilet for weeks or months on end depending on length of use. But he should definately seek out those resources and surround himself with people that will support him instead of screaming" just quit!" down his throat. That will send an addict running the other direction in a heartbeat.
@@markdesselle5572 Thank you for understanding...I know Kaas means well by his/her comment but like you said it's not as easy as "just quit". I wish it was. Like you, I'm an IV'er...totally different monster withdrawing. People that say "just quit" have never experienced puking up yellow/orange bottom of your stomach bile, the hot and cold flashes, the body aches, etc etc. I wish it was as easy as "just quit" I truly do. I don't want my little girl growing up without a father like I did, unfortunately that goes thru my head daily, and I'm still losing the struggle to win. Much love for the support though, glad you guys reached out, means a lot...
God, this song takes me back. I would sing along while I was battling my addiction. Thank you guys for being there in my dark times. I’m so grateful to say that I’ve been completely sober for over a year now. And I’m finally expecting to be a mother soon.
When this song was popular my husband and I were addicts and every time we would hear this song we would go get high. Well my husband passed and now I listen to this song in his memory! Love and miss you G.
I've seen them twice in less than a years and I got the opportunity to meet them both and I told them "if you keep coming to Houston, I'll keep coming to your shows".
I'm a recovering addict. This song meant so much to me at the time when I was younger. It's a blessing to see it remastered now right when I need it the most. 🖤
This version made me appreciate this song again cause if you have been listening to these guys as long as I have this song was played tf out for years now they have so many great songs and yet the radio only plays this one
I listened Smile Empty Soul for the first time in 2007. Since that day I never stopped listening to this extraordinary band, I wish I could be a great producer to take them to the top. Sean is a legend.
Saw these guys do an acoustic set about 8 years ago or something like that. Still have the signed 8x10 on my wall in a frame. one of my all time fav bands.
It was fun Workin with you in Spokane Washington about 6 years ago at the hop now closed down sadly but great job nostalgic rock on come back to town anytime
These guys were YEARS ahead of it with their debut album. I was rocking that cd in MIDDLE SCHOOL! 🍻 The song "This is war" I mean come on. Its perfect.
Isn’t it funny people don’t normally attend to the desire of self pleasure, but it’s sold as an experience for every one…the power of helping just one person through music is world changing.
Wow, my hats off to you. Sometimes i feel like im the only one who remembers Hurt, let alone likes them. One of my favorites, even got a tattoo of a line in rapture. But not a single person has ever known what its from.

@@matthewrebelmonster6095 yes I've heard the same thing, which to me the song blatantly shows that thats what its about. I do love falls apart as well, and Losing. Their acoustic set was the best imo. So much passion. However i do not relate to rapture, thankfully, but the song is amazing nonetheless. The line i took from it, i felt was very powerful and it's actually a tattoo in dedication to my children. This song brings a lot of my past dark memories . When this song came out, back in 2004 , I was fighting my addiction, I couldn't get rid of the drugs and Psychotropic substance. I went to various rehabilitation centres but still couldn't defeat my addiction until the summer of 2012 but now I'm a responsible family man and 12 years total abstinence from my choice of substance.
This song dude. It really inspired me and my friends forming a band. That post-grunge, punk influenced shit that hit and was melodic at the same time. You guys are freaking awesome!
Their tracks are always high quality...the instruments almost seem lifelike on my system. Been listening to SES from around 8 years ago. Severely underrated group.
