    I wonder how many people that were around in 1976 have passed away since then ...I know that both sets of my grandparents , 5 uncles , 5 aunts , my father and 5 of my older cousins have ...Life can get so lonely ..

    ACcording to google tuition at Emory was about 1200 in 1976. Now it's 53K (just tuition not room and board). The price of a candy bar has gone up about 5X. The price of tuition has gone up more than 40X in the same time period.

    How's this for irony: A Rich's commercial airs right before a story about Sam Nunn. The Federal Building that replaced the Downtown Atlanta Rich's store is named for Nunn.

    Lo-fi news needs a strong comeback. If affiliates all went back to this low key, analog approach, cable news would collapse within a year.

      Odd for a lo-fi newscast to use the Action News brand or "Move Closer To Your World." Why didn't WSB emulate WPVI? Imagine...scenes of life in Atlanta with the announcer blareing, "Action News, Georgia's leading news program," then John Pruitt giving The Big Story. Wait, that would be more like WXIA 11 Alive, where Pruitt later ended up.

    • @armorybrunotjr.3204
      @armorybrunotjr.3204 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      During the early to mid-1970s, lots of local newscasts had "Action" or "Eyewitness" News in the title for good reason: viewers would see a
      filmed report of a happening taking place in the city of,say, people
      picketing a warehouse. The viewers would be an eyewitness of that
      report, hence "Eyewitness" (or "Action") News.

    I have no idea what prompted me to look for this video. I just typed news in 1976. Just got done watching the latest news. I could not help but sit and watch the whole thing. I even liked the commercials. There was something non-offensive about it compared to today. I suppose I wanted to compare it against today's news. I completely agree with Heather. Cable news today is a disgrace. Instead of being informative and helpful, as this video is an example. I find today's news to be pig-headed and very opinionated. CNN, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, ABC, etc, etc.

    I remember the Finance America (the former GAC) jingle. However, a loan company is not going to give you a roll of cash on a money clip. This obviously was before the era of people using money machines at local
    banks.

    30:00 Eastern was giving Delta a run for Atlanta's airline loyalty. Both flew L-1011's. Corpus Christi was one of the 99 cities they served from Hartsfield. 38:30 coincidence Atlanta was playing Buffalo in both hockey and basketball, not possible today with the Flames in Calgary and the Buffalo Braves now the LA Clippers. Both arenas, the Omni and the Aud, are long gone as well.
