I got a kitten from a yard sale along time ago. She was in a box with atleast 8 other siblings. They were all going wild, but she just sat there as if she was silently judging her circumstances as beneath her and her litter mates as heathens. She came home with me, and I named her birdie. She ran the joint like she was a prison warden, even watching me shower (shudder). She supervised her son (my son) getting on and off the school bus, refused any kind of food but wet food, and only slept at the top of my head like she was monitoring my thoughts. I was scared of her half the time and in awe of her the other half. Her son (my son) was exceptionally trained and obedient towards her needs and I was an okay cafeteria lady (I think). Birdie was supposed to be this quiet little wisp of a kitten that I rescued from hellish conditions (the yard sale) but instead she was a battle axe. She was demanding, judgmental, and intimidating. She was exactly what I needed being a young single mother. She ran a tight ship and kept me solid and grounded. You get the pet that you need, and that’s how they teach us unconditional love. Id say RIP, Birdie but I’m fairly certain she haunts the frick out of me to this day. 🤦♀️👀😼
That's so cool to know about the tick thing. One question though, is that a mama dog thing???? My daughter and I have all males... weird... The one that started it was Severus. He's a GSD and the alpha, even if my Hybrid Loki challenges him. My boy is only two though. The others are older. Loki is like the bratty little brother that everyone wants to beat up

I'm Korean and I'm so appreciative of Gus shedding light on dog meat farms in South Korea. There are passionate animal rights activists in Korea that are fighting to get their gov't to pass a law that bans torturing dogs for their meat. This is NOT a cultural thing. It's not even a MEAT thing. These dogs are horrendously tortured when they are slaughtered for their meat because Koreans who eat dog meat think (like a Korean female archer athlete) that a dog tortured does something to the meat that the consumer benefits from health wise. In a country that does where the adoption rate is below 20%, countries like the US have stepped up. Much like they did the human orphans from South Korea, like my friend who founded and runs a rescue that brings dogs from Korea to the US for adoption. Yes, there are unwanted dogs here in the US. But, because Americans are awesome and most adopt, many dogs get a better chance here. I live in the PNW and we actually bring dogs from the South to adopt out because sometimes we actually don't have enough for people here to adopt! What a wonderful problem to have. That means we are able to help those from other parts of our country, as well as those from places like Korea. Our two humane societies have done just that.❤❤❤

The beginning of this video is an eye-opener - it's so heart breaking. My neighbor adopted a puppy from China meat market. Sweetest dog ever. My dog I adopted last year from Santa Clara Animal Control's name was Birdie - I changed it to Faline :)
Our rescue Molly, a Newfoundlander, came from a backyard breeder in Ontario Canada. She was nervous and scared about almost everything, but over the course of a year, became the sweetest most affectionate dog we have ever owned. All the hard work was so worth it. She looks at me straight in the eyes, just like Birdie does with you. Such love from her.

We don't consider that to be inhumane but other countries who think of rabbits more as pets it's seen as cruel. It's all different cultures. However yes, i would have tried to save the dog lol.
