It should be noted that track is known as a King Track, The most widely recognized track in Slotcar Racing. That one is not an original but an adaptation of the original build by American Raceways in the 60's. Also, GTP is a class with a body that has more downforce, and LMP is based on LeMans Prototype of which they resemble the real life cars, they also don't have as much downforce which requires more skill to drive. I built all of my pit boxes but one which is a vintage box from the 1960's. I also have a box that was my Dad's from the 1960's. It was fun to make the boxes the way I wanted to have them the way I imagined them.
Nice little introduction into a fascinating hobby out of a first impression. The venue you visited is great. I like to go with less gear in a large customized toolbox. Those huge slotboxes weigh a ton.

I’m over 60 and I have a blast at the slot car drags. You can get extremely elaborate with the details in a drag car. Unlike the multi turn tracks where you will come off and crash The drag strip has a lot fewer crashes. You can use model car bodies get very creative with paint schemes.
It looks like a BLAST! I think the scale accuracy is one of the things I liked most about it. I used to build tons of model cars when I was a kid. We might have to build a couple of drag cars and give it a shot!
