  • Buzz Perri owns and operates the last running slot car raceway in New York City. For 49 years Buzz has provided New Yorkers "5 to 95 years old" the chance to race authentic slot cars on a variety of tracks. Buzz-A-Rama is located in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Kensington and can be rented for Birthday parties.

I loved slot cars as a kid... I’m 56 years old and just started building a new track...still loads of fun!

Sad to see Buzz passed in 2021, preceded by his wife. From all accounts, it sounds like he was a delightful person and a great advocate for the hobby.

We had a track like this in my city back in the late 60's. We used to spend hours there. I think it was 25cants for a half hour. We would go to the hobby store and buy model kits and convert them to slot cars. What a blast.

Sadly gone now, I got a chance to run there last year, nice throw back to how the shops were in the 60s if you never got a chance to experience it.

I grew up in the neighborhood and remember fondly my dad taking me here a bunch of times, and I definitely attended a birthday or three here as well. I even remember my dad trying to get some of his friends into it so he could justify to my mom buying his own slot cars instead of always having to rent the shop ones lol.

My dad took my sister and me there back in the late 60's. We were the only girls and got alot of good attention for being interested in racing cars. It was one example of cool things we used to do as children that required face to face play. You could customise cars from kits you would buy. Paint them. Try to make them faster by replacing the brushes. My dad loved it too rest his soul.
Now I live in England or I would be there as soon as the COVID mess is sorted.

I miss places like his. I grew up going to places like his back in the 60’s to 80’s. I might of gone to see his place back in the 70’s when I lived in Brooklyn. I’m working on restoring a can am car now hope to find a track down in Florida some where.

I got into the slot cars as a kids in S. Miami in the early '60s. I earned track time at a local shop by fixing all the rental cars--and they needed a lot of fixing. Started out with a Monogram Porsche kit before building my own customs. Lots of good memories. There was a local store here in FL for a while but it closed. The cars were much faster than what I used to race, but just little wedges with no class. And someone needs to tell that kids to never pull the cars backwards.

I just read of the sad demise of Buzz and Buzz o rama. All i could think of is here is the real "king of the slotcar track" if you've never heard it, its a song by a group called the reach around rodeo clowns. Check it out.

I have over 3K Feet of Tyco HO scale and a collection of Cars. My best friend had about that much, too. He figured out how to wire 2 power tracks together so each person had their own X2 Tansformer per lane. He and I would race all weekend long.

Can't believe Buzz A Rama is still there. I grew up at that place from about when it first opened until I moved out to Long Island in '74, Even then I still came back a few times a year to race. Now live in Florida and would love to race at Buzz A Rama again but I refuse to go back to that communist state.
