What about Hindu Endowment Acts ? The Wakf Act is almost a namesake act, and most of the Wakf properties are nder encroached of non Muslims. On the other hand, what percent of Hindu Endowment properties are under occupation of Muslims ? Well, a brute majority can not only occupy minority properties stating that there is no religious denomination or religion other than Hinduism, and further can abolish laws meant to safeguard rights. As a person from Uttarakhand, people have been demanding a land reforms law. There was a significant protest recently. Since the state's inception, no government seems interested in addressing this issue, nor does anyone care for the Uniform Civil Code. To be fair, if your community is still not ready even after 75 years of independence for any progressive laws and is going make stupid arguments about diversity, then the problem is the community, not the laws. I support Live in relationship terms of UK. If you are living in together, I think it'll help in prohibiting crimes. Living in is not a crime. But if any crime happens then it'll help in the investigation and judiciary process if the authorities are informed. Note: Living in with another human being is not casual decision. You should always think about it.
The moot issue also is, why the singularly high enthusiasm for UCC in Uttarakahand, a state that is beset with a number of issues. No solutions for any of them, somehow UCC found top priority. I don't find the Live in Act to be regressive at all. It's more about monitoring things with authority. I mean, in relationships, what's the issue with registering? It's about being progressive and standing up for what you believe in. Moreover, legalizing relationships through registration could be seen as a forward-thinking approach. Just imagine if marriage had been registered many years ago. It might not have been initially embraced, but now it feels incredibly progressive. Relationships should be viewed through the same lens.
come on really my friend? The question "What is the issue with registering?" is already an absurd reasoning. Consider this, will you register everything and anything that the government asks you to? No right? The point being, whenever the government wants us to tell them something, then as citizens our question should be "why do you want that information?" The state, has no right to all information, they need sufficient cause for that. Secondly, it is also important to understand, that, there is a problem with this "registering". This is because, if the registrar does not approve of it, then you can't live in. It's not *just* registering, it's asking them for permission. Also, do you not see, how the police can use this law unfairly to harass people in the name of "checking". They probably (in practicality definitely) will take bribes, and not only that, they can justify that by saying "it's their custom so the law doesn't apply". This picking and choosing is also problematic. Thirdly, marriages are registered, for an entirely separate reasoning. Marriage is also a social & economic contract between two people. Relationships are not the same as marriages!

They are not the same as relationships, and relationships don't serve as proper social contracts. That's because that relationship hadn't gained the social contract status like marriages do.
So, apparently, consenting individuals who freely choose can't marry or have multiple partners within marriage. But, oh, outside of marriage, the possibilities seem endless. How 'progressive'. What about Hindu Endowment Acts ? The Wakf Act is almost a namesake act, and most of the Wakf properties are nder encroached of non Muslims. On the other hand, what percent of Hindu Endowment properties are under occupation of Muslims ? Well, a brute majority can not only occupy minority properties stating that there is no religious denomination or religion other than Hinduism, and further can abolish laws meant to safeguard rights. This is when special laws are created to create corridors. That, again, is when the state and wake board fail to nullify encroachments. Wipe off but assert and preserve in far off lands too. I don't find the Live in Act to be regressive at all. It's more about monitoring things with authority. I mean, in relationships, what's the issue with registering? It's about being progressive and standing up for what you believe in. Moreover, legalizing relationships through registration could be seen as a forward-thinking approach. Just imagine if marriage had been registered many years ago. It might not have been initially embraced, but now it feels incredibly progressive. Relationships should be viewed through the same lens.
come on really my friend? The question "What is the issue with registering?" is already an absurd reasoning. Consider this, will you register everything and anything that the government asks you to? No right? The point being, whenever the government wants us to tell them something, then as citizens our question should be "why do you want that information?" The state, has no right to all information, they need sufficient cause for that.
Secondly, it is also important to understand, that, there is a problem with this "registering". This is because, if the registrar does not approve of it, then you can't live in. It's not *just* registering, it's asking them for permission. Also, do you not see, how the police can use this law unfairly to harass people in the name of "checking". They probably (in practicality definitely) will take bribes, and not only that, they can justify that by saying "it's their custom so the law doesn't apply". This picking and choosing is also problematic.
Thirdly, marriages are registered, for an entirely separate reasoning. Marriage is also a social & economic contract between two people. Relationships are not the same as marriages!

That's because that relationship hadn't gained the social contract status like marriages do.
So, apparently, consenting individuals who freely choose can't marry or have multiple partners within marriage. But, oh, outside of marriage, the possibilities seem endless. How 'progressive'.
However, the regulations around live-in relationships are ironically more absurd but somewhat serve as an antidote to this problem 😂
