The small salmon you caught was a small chinook”king” salmon not coho. You can tell by the mouth/gum colour

Loved it. You got big balls to do it in that boat. I'm in green bay that water turns bad fast out there.
My family owned 60 acres in Charlevoix for almost 100 years. Great grandfather built the two story farm house and two barns with lumber from the property. There's a ton of smallmouth in the channel. The water is extremely high this year though, normally the water is 5-6 feet from the edge of the channel and now its 2 maybe 3.

Michigan city where you’re at is LOADED with steelhead and perch. Lots and lots of summer steelhead and drum
At almost 60 years old I have watched many fishing shows, videos and the like but you sir have taken it to the next level. This was an unbelievable journey and truly a great story. Keep it up!!
Whenever I drive through Indiana I see so many juicy places! A lot of bass fishing history there, probably pretty good!
When the border opens up you should do a circumnavigating south and north basin lake Winnipeg.

Wife and I did the circle tour couple yrs ago and this was by far my favorite city. Could move there in a heartbeat
Our boat is in Michigan City. Great little (well decent size for lake Michigan) marina. Some good charter guys out there. Most people fishing off the pier catch carp. If you head west to My Baldy you generally can find a bunch of perch.

The salmon at 4:15 mark is a hatchery Jack Chinook (aka. juvenile Chinook). Chinook (Kings) have the black mouth and Coho have the white. The hatchery note is because it doesn't have an adipose fin. :-)

Way to end an epic adventurous trip on lake Michigan Peric, with the catches of a goby and the baby smallie! This has been a wonderful series even though Mother Nature didn't always cooperate, thanks for the adventure.
Muskegon is like my back yard I’m 30 mins south of there in holland, mi you shoulda stopped out we would have taken you out on our 35’ salmon boat!

I stumbled across this channel and I have to say that this is something that absolutely i would love to do with life. I'm an average fisherman usually just hook and bobber. Slowly learning more methods of fishing. You guys are awesome.
Nice beauty hatchery coho, judging by the rear snipped adipose fin. By far one of a favorite fish to catch / eat.
I'm in southern Indiana. Been bass fishing Indiana for almost 30 years. In my opinion, a "nice" bass is around 5lbs. There are some public sweet spots in S. Indiana that hold some big 'uns. Up to 8 lbs. isn't uncommon. Bigger than that is pretty rare, but not out of the question. I'm sure there will be disagreements on this, but as I stated, it's my opinion.

Loved the series. Got concerned about you guys when you failed to post for a week. Hopefully you can do it again someday when you're not in such a hurry. Northern MI. has so many great fishing spots that you blew right by. I was also thinking, when you camped on that beach, you probably don't even know what a Petoskey stone looks like. :)

Gobbies are super cool tank pets. I used to have a bunch of different colored ones in my tank. They're bad for the lakes though! You should throw that right on the shore

Too funny man!! Open fires are illegal on South Manitou and your "Coho" is a King. The westside of the island you are on is the best Salmon bank in the entire lake. Good stuff. By the way that wreck is called the Morizon and it reeks!!!

Maybe the “weather” comes a different direction there but I usually anchor the bow out and run a line from stern to shore.

With lake trout you have to torpedo them down so they can get down to their level a lot faster! It just helps them out a lot
