I'm curious about the conversations that were had leading up to the game. "Hi yes, we need you to make two fur suits so we can have a couple of goofballs be silly next to Banks."
might be a controversial take but, like ash said furry means different thing to different people. to me personally its the family i never had and when i see videos of the harassing prankster channels invade cons for views it pisses me off so when we are used for pr stunts by people who aren't even part of the fandom it rubs me the wrong way because i just personally believe that we as a community don't exist for them to use as props for their videos or advertisements.
The Mr. and Mrs. Smith thing but as fursuiters is playing in my head and I'm loving it so much. I want to imagine that they attend conventions, but tell their partner that they're at a professional conference, but since they're in suit the whole time, neither one knows the other is there (a nice relevance to the film where the characters were indeed in the same location, but didn't know the other was there). Thanks for that idea, Ash!
I'm convinced that advertising agencies went batshit crazy. Ads used to be wild but at some point they just became nonsense. Often I have no idea what an advert is trying to promote & feel like I'm watching an art school D average student's 30 second absurdist opus. Whatever they were trying to sell I now actively Do Not Want It.
Honestly, I'm not surprised by this. It seems every couple of years on average, there's something in popular media about furries; whether it's Pawn Stars or Storage Wars (cringe) it's taking something seemingly abnormal to the public, in this case fursuiting, and putting it in a place where a lot of "normie" eyes are viewing it. Not only does it get views and reaction from that sample of individuals, it creates an image in the public eye of misunderstanding/inaccuracy. I do appreciate how you mentioned that the furry community is whatever YOU make it, and not something that mainstream media tries to make it. Great video Ash :3 Liked!
*Edit:* Check the comment's replies, someone figured out who the maker is and there were actually three suits made for this. I'm more curious about where these suits came from. Cause they don't look like they're from a scam site at all. The heads and paws on both suits look to be in the same style, so I doubt these were random secondhand suits. They look like they commissioned a maker for two flashy colored suits. -All I can think of is the poor maker screaming their head off wanting to talk about this so badly but are probably under a NDA, otherwise we'd have at least pics of these.-
@@dinosaysrawr Yep, you got it! They have pics of all three of the suits made for them on their twitter. They mentioned one looks different from its suit because they ordered three, but swapped the head for the second one in the video. Thank you so much for finding out who made them!
I’m pretty sure I saw a trailer for this show a couple months ago. It portrayed those main protagonists arriving at a house with a furry party and fursuiters running around, and them looking all weirded out. It was a short trailer, and I haven’t seen it, or been able to find it since.
One thing that I find kind of annoying is that everyone seems to try and make any type of relationship just about sex nowadays in media. When Tyra Banks put those couples on beds, essentially, she's saying your relationship is just based on what goes on in the bedroom and nothing else. Which I think kind of waters down what a relationship can be about. And it doesn't have to include sex to be a relationship.
I mean you said yourself when you look up "Tyra Banks Furry" this is what comes up now instead of the bad controversial take her show had on furries, maybe it's an attempt to bury past mistakes? That is if we assume they'd even care about burning the fandom in the past.
Pretty much, alot of people hate on each other because they don't agree with someone 100%, I consider myself a furry, I have fursonas, I want a fur suit, but I don't agree with a lot of stuff that happens in the furry community, but I ain't judging and doesn't mean I'm going to alienate myself from being a furry because I have a disagreement and I still treat everyone with the same respect
@@fintherebel5000that wasn't a message to blame the furry community for anything? I was just saying even though stuff happens i don't judge (in response to the main message)

Glad to see you are back making videos again. And looking forward to the furry fandom documentary part 2. Besides that, I agree with, "furry fandom is what you make of it". For others it can be casual, but for me it has deep inner meanings that are significant to me. It is concerning that corporations and industries are getting this brazen. Especially, since it has no connection to that movie you mentioned. I like the awareness to hopefully decrease animosity yet apprehensive of what will come forth from this staged PR act to attract attention. Again, happy to see you are back. :)
All I can say Is expect the next media stigma on the Furry fandom because all Furries know what happens when the mainstream media flims stuff about Furries it's always in a bad light
Shouldn't a publicity stunt somehow be tied to the thing it's publicizing? And shouldn't that tie be obvious enough for people observing it to get the connection? I think that was missing here. It got attention, lots of attention, but it never led that attention back to Mr And Mrs Smith. So all in all, this was not a well-thought-out stunt. It was funny, though. It might have been even better if they'd gotten actual Furry fans to do it.
Well, it was brilliant in the sense that it got a ton of press coverage, and was so puzzling and odd that people were motivated to dive in to research it. In a way, having to actually research it rooted it more deeply in people's minds than if a billboard had just boringly flashed "Go see Mr. and Mrs. Smith! Coming to a theatre near you!
@@dinosaysrawr But did they though? Everyone who saw the stunt would first have to care, second have research skills and third have nothing better to do.
A pair of Furries or maybe non-furs in "entry-level fursuits" while spending $1500+ on tickets!? Furspoiltation is almost 90% guaranteed, but it is a bit funny too, so work away.. BUT, what if we can guide Mr. Glover to greater lolz, and have a proper spy film where they're suiters in their free time OR going John Wick IN SUIT!
I always thought that clip of the furries with Tyra Banks seemed rather sus. Thank you for shedding some light on it, and providing some context. I must say, I'm a bit angered to find out what was really happening there. People misrepresenting furries, and using us as a PR stunt? What is this, 2010???
If for whatever reason I wound up watching an Ameriball game and saw this, I'd be as much wondering who the woman between the two fursuits is. I've heard of Tyra Banks... never seen anything she's been in. Also, sad as it is, my guess is that an episode involves furries... and going off of the clip you showed (WTF even was that? who'd agree to do that?), probably not going to be much, if at-all better than "THAT" CSI Episode. I hope to all the gods I'm wrong, buuuut...
I think it's interesting, at least, that out of all of the potential concepts they could've gone with for a viral stunt, they latched onto furries. I don't know what that means, and if it's a good omen or a bad one, but it is interesting. The GOOD news is that the fursuiters were merely cloying and annoying, because I shudder to imagine what this prank or publicity stunt would've looked like in the late 90s or early 2000s when our public reputation was even worse. The other good news is that when I browsed "the buzz" about this, the vast majority of responses I saw were "This smells like a publicity stunt or a prank" and not "lol eww furries amirite?" Many news articles even quoted suspicious furries who smelled a rat. That at least tells me that punching down at furries isn't most people's top priority---so, hey, I'll take it!
It'll be an interesting test of the fandom if this stuff ramps up. But this fandom is nothing if not resilient. In some ways I prefer people targeting furries instead of focusing that portion of their energy on trans people directly. We have been battle tested against 4chan and have been building resiliency to this type of harassment since the fandom's inception. I think we an take it.
Twitter on my phone has been deleted so I wasn't aware of this. Bizarre but in a way that will *crack you tf up* - Pretty sure anyone watching that will not know or care about watching the show. Other than that I have no feelings. Its just the average normie being severely disconnected to any community they've labeled as weird lol. That asides I think this is a good talking peice for furries to tease
First of all, hey Ash 👋. Long time, no see. Hope you’re doing good with yourself nowadays and whatnot. Miss your Twitch streams and other stuff so yea. Also, I haven’t heard any special news relating to mixed societal issues with the furry fandom and the normie public lately so this is very new to me somehow haha. Honestly, I don’t know how to feel about it but it’s mostly a mutual matter to me at this point in time anyway where I don’t feel like caring about whatever unique promotional materials that has something to do with furries in terms of movie relevancy and other random stuff in which it looks uninteresting to me anyway or something. I don’t know if it makes any sense or it’s supposed to make some sense for this manner or whatever so just saying ok haha.
This is forsooth rather strange. It felt a little unwholesome to watch, to be honest. And even I, who has never suited and maybe met a handful of fursuiters in person, can clearly see that there is something off with them. I try to always be positive, but this just makes me suspicious and confused.
Not I really want to see where this rabbit hole leads, at first glance it’s cool to see them at a game but then again they seem exaggerated I wonder who were in those suits
these fursuits were definitely made by a real fursuit maker, not a knock off cheap costume/mascot company. but its is odd that the fursuit on the left has a head that isnt the same and the body. i also have no earthly idea how this would successfully market a spy film.
Honestly yes i know about when i watch the video these furries were at the basketball and Are they allowed to that and look disturbing to me and interesting video my bestie ash 😐🙂
To put it mildly, Tyra Banks isn't the type of person I want to associate with. She set up a pyramid scheme and bragged about her ability to make children cry. I. Shit. You. Not. I've seen cartoon villains more sympathetic than Tyra Banks. Though, to be fair, these were really well-written cartoons.
Omg Tyra Banks with furries again?!? Oh gosh and it certainly doesn’t surprise me that this is staged Ash. Yeah I just don’t understand why??? I just don’t know why this is advertising and attaching it to an Amazon show, eh
100% staged since no one ever fursuits in a NBA game just to show off the tail to the other when its from the same maker instead of watching the game, u can tell same maker with the head shape and how the eyes are done.
100% an attention grab for specific groups, which as you said is happening a lot right now with movies
So I'm guessing one of them was Donald Glover since he likes doing stunts at big events - the other one has the energy of Ryan Reynolds
Too bad Ryan Reynolds is living in England running a soccer team. "Welcome to Rexham"
