Fantastic fun piece of work. But WTF! attaching the arms before finishing off the base man that must have made you twitch during the finishing. Great piece, thanks for sharing
Heid Bumbee x I was thinking the same thing. Id have attached the nose & arms once off the lathe. Nice dimensions on the head, hat and bottom. Nice burning technique too.
I'm a year off here, just came accros your snowman and I think it's over-the-top. You have all the details and the dedicated stand to boot. A remarkable piece and the beech timber appears fun to turn, I've never run accros it so I'll have to keep an eye out for it. Thank you so much for the enjoyable video, it lifts the spirits. Brad
Hey Brad !! I'm glad to see you come back to YT buddy !! Thanks so much for watching and commenting, its very much appreciated !! Beech wood is a really nice wood to turn and when its spalted its spectacular !!! Kind regards Steve.
Brilliant snowman Steve, really impressed with the pyrography, and the shape, proof of your "arty" nature mate :) Excellent stuff. Good luck with your entry. Take care Mike
Hi Steve! Very nice ornament my friend! I love the idea of using the hat as the place to hold the tea light candle. Very nice finish! Good luck in the contest and from my family to yours, please receive our best wishes for the upcoming holidays! Cheers! Daniel

Hi Mike, thank you, I've painted and drawn all my life so had a wee bit of practice, the pyro pen is just like using a hot pencil :-D.... Thanks a million, regards Steve.
Ha Ha, nope the Christmas man is way too advanced for me Keith!! He is happy with the rest of the snowman family I am slowly adding to for the next fair, so the dizziness didn't do any harm ;-) Thanks mate, Steve.
+Paul Trembath Really glad your granddaughter likes it Paul, they are fun and pretty simple to make. Thanks a million for watching and commenting, much appreciated, Steve.
Hello Steve, Great job.. he's a cheeky chappie! , like the pyro face and the log base just sets him off nice, Good luck in the challenge mate! Cheers Bram. ps great video angles , a well produced video!!
Hi Bram. Thanks a million mate, ive been experimenting with the camera and editing, glad you liked it mate. The snowman is a fun wee project to make. thanks for watching, Steve.
Sweet snowman, always a classy choice, loved how you burned those lines using a hard wood, I use a piece of formica, just because my architect wife have full folders of formica samples she gets from contractor and the kids have maxed out the fun to be had with those... :) good job on the pyrography as well! Good luck man, and a merry Christmas!!
Hey Yuval!! Yep the friction burning is a nice effect alright, simple too! I'll give you my address and maybe you can pass on some of those samples ;-)... Thanks a million Yuval, Happy Christmas to you and your family too. Steve.
Hi Janice, I use a piece of hardboard with laminate on it, like laminated flooring board ..... but you can use any piece of hard wood that will cause friction.... make sure it has a smooth surface though, to stop damaging the work piece....... Hope this helps, Regards Steve.
Great job I make a few of these but I cheat on the holder I cut the recess with a fostner bit then clean it up I get a great fit that way and I'm going to pinch your idea on the arms I have always used twigs from our trees anyway Merry Christmas from Downunder
Hi, I used a strip of plastic coated hardboard, the kind of stuff from the back of cheap flatpack cupboards ? But you can use formica, plywood, or even a bunched up paper towel ...
Hey buddy, you got me there !! I never measure them to be honest.. I think my wife has one knocking around so I will take a few measurements and put them here a bit later on for you.... Thanks for watching and commenting, regards, Steve.

+Jason Cox Hi !! I used a pyrography pen to draw the details, its a heated iron similar to a soldering iron except hotter and with different nibs !!! Thanks for watching and for your question, regards, Steve.

Hi, I used a strip of plastic coated hardboard, the kind of stuff from the back of cheap flatpack cupboards ? But you can use formica, plywood, or even a bunched up paper towel ...
Hey! Tell me, does the snowman get spoiled by hot wax?
Love that little man, he is so cute. Only just discovered this, hope you did well in the challenge. What did you use to burn the hat?
